Well it was reported that Baltimore was interested as well, but they have acquired Mark Trumbo and also may be considering re-signing Chris Davis, so it makes sense to start speculating on some Mariners prospects/young players as targets.

If we can trade less than Khris Davis (just Lind?) to land Dylan Bundy then I'm all for it. However, I will go on record saying, that I predict in five years (in 2021) Dylan Bundy will be an all-star starting pitcher and Khris Davis will be out of baseball. (MLB anyway)

I agree with your assessment. However, my point is that since the Brewers can't (have had a hell of a time) draft starting pitchers that turn into aces, doesn't gambling on one like Bundy make more sense to a rebuilding team as a future asset than a "non-difference" making corner OF? I would say we could afford to continue Bundy's development at the MLB level by giving him a rotation spot for the entire year, even if it means Davies spends the year at AAA until someone gets hurt, or Garza goes to the pen.

While I'll admit to undervaluing Khris Davis, I think others are overvaluing him, especially when trading him makes a ton of sense from an organizational depth perspective as well. Dylan Bundy is a risk but has the upside of a #1 starter, with a true ace caliber arm. (when healthy) Khris Davis has a more limited upside at a position (corner OF) that could easily be filled from within or with an affordable free agent. In a potential Lind trade to the Mariners, I wouldn't mind the Brewers taking a chance on Mike Zunino as a future catcher replacement if we move Lucroy in a separate deal. Maybe something like Lind for C Mike Zunino and RHP Edwin Diaz?

Do you seriously think Khris Davis for Dylan Bundy is an OVERPAY? Didn't realize anyone was actually drinking the rare Khris Davis kool aid. lol Davis, I think, is emerging as a 3TO-type of player. His OBP skills improved markedly this past year. In 109 fewer plate appearances, he drew 12 more walks, and hit five more homers. Davis looks legit, and he's cheap. I'm not opposed to dealing him, but I'd need to be blown away by the offer before I break up a 2016 Opening Day OF of Davis in left, Santana in center, and Braun in right. "Break up our 2016 Opening Day OF"???? lol You're acting like it's a great starting OF on a contending team. They are not even a great starting OF for the future of the Brewers. Santana is not a CF and has too many holes in his swing to be counting on as a future OF centerpiece. Braun immovable contract is the only thing keeping him part of the Brewers future. Davis is a replacement level player. We should look to trade all 3 players if possible, if I'm a rebuilding GM.

Why not just use someone in our own system like Kyle Wren to bridge the 2016 gap to Brett Phillips? He's already 24 years old with over a half season at AAA. Wasting any money on the likes of Austin Jackson on this non-contending team seems pretty silly, IMHO.

Red Sox just DFA'd left handed batting 3B Garin Cecchini. I'm hoping Sterns puts in a waiver claim on him. He had an off year last season at AAA but still hit .279 with a .372 obp throughout his minor league career and is just 24 years old.

1B/3B LH power hitting Pedro Alvarez is a non-tender candidate for the Pirates. He seems like a perfect type player the Brewers should take a chance on. Lind is on the way out soon and we have a hole at 1B/3B, as well as a lack of LH bats. Alvarez, 28, is young enough to still reach his enormous potential, IHMO. Thoughts?

Having divisions of 5 teams or less gives teams a better chance at winning a division and making the playoffs. Remember when the Brewers where in the AL East?. There where seven teams in those divisions back then. Don't think you'd want to go back to the days when your team is in 4-7 place in the division, no wild card and NO chance of making the playoffs after looking where you are in the standings on June 1st.

Papelbon is unquestionably the biggest "River Dancing" prick in baseball. With that said, the fact that he choked Harper makes me smile. Harper is playing a child's game for a living and being well compensated. This is not the first and won't be the last time he "dogged" it on the field. He has more talent than anyone in baseball not named Trout. However, he's not the type of player I'd want on my team if I was building my franchise. He doesn't play the game the right way. Period.

I've become a HUGE fan of the Wild Card set up as it is. - First of all, adding the 2nd Wild Card has left fans of about 3-6 teams still interested going into September every year and even more before the trading deadline. This is good for MLB and baseball fans in general. Kudos to Bud for making this happen. Even teams on the fringe like the Tigers this year have to decide if they are in/out on July 31st which is exciting. Makes for more possible trade partners for rebuilding teams as well. - Beginning the playoffs with a pair of one-and-done games is an excellent and exciting way to kick off the baseball playoffs every year. Make it a 3rd such game if it is preceeded by a tie-breaker game. - For those suggesting that a 3 game Wild Card series is MORE fair and a better idea, I respectfully disagree. Have the first two games being a double header is really not a good idea. The majority of double headers are split between to two teams anyway, leaving it back to one deciding game anyway. I assume the team with the best record would host the double header? That means the team with the worst record would host game which decides the series. Also, having the Wild Card team burn through their top 3 starters (or at minimum top 2) in 2 days in order to advance to Division series. This puts the Wild Card winner at a HUGE disadvantage in the Division series, IMHO. - Unlike the one Wild Card format, the current format rewards the Division Winners, which really does give advantage to the best team in each division for the 162 game season. If you don't want the chance of being bounced in the Wild Card game, you simply need to win your division. - Wild Card winners like the Cubs and Astros, will have used up their ACE in the Wild Card game, meaning they would likely only be available to pitch once in the Divsion Series. Again this gives the team with the best record in the league (the Cards & Royals) a huge advantage in the Division Series. More reward for being the best teams in each league through the 162 game regular season. -The Wild Card game has a Game 7 mentality. Game 7 (or deciding games) in any playoffs throughout sports are the most intense and best games to watch. As a fan were you not WAY more interested in watching the Wild Card games than watching games 1 or 2 of the Division Series? Personally, my favorite games of the Division Series are game 3, 4 or 5, because each of those games is an elimination game. Teams can do amazing things when their backs are against the wall.
