  1. Yan Gomes could be a nice free agent option to replace Pina IMO.
  2. Right handed power bat to replace Garcia. I think 3 years/$39M would probably get it done.
  3. As we are seeing this postseason, home run hitters can be HUGE difference makers in the playoffs. No one has really talked about it, but the Brewers certainly missed having a player like Ryan Braun going into the 2021 playoffs.
  4. I think someone like Jorge Soler will cost less and therefore a more likely FA target to replace Garcia. Garcia lead the Brewers will 29 HR in 2021 and we will need to replace his power and then some. Urias (23) and Adames (20) are only other 2021 Brewers to top 20 HR. That's pathetic.
  5. It was a good run.
  6. You need to win Game 4 or there is no Game 5. Burnes on short rest.
  7. Those saying the Dodgers "got unlucky" this season seem to forget that the Nationals traded the returning World Series Champion Dodgers both a NL MVP Candidate (Trea Turner) and NL CY Young Candidate (Max Scherzer) for a bag full of magic beans.
  8. Eliminating Divisions will never happen. Also, a one game, winner takes all Wild Card is more exciting then and probably almost as fair as a 3 game series. As we found out with the Pandemic 2020 Postseason format, whatever team loses the first game of a 3 game series has there backs against the wall immediately. One game, ACE vs ACE is more exciting IMO.
  9. Corbin Burnes is the first pitcher to lead his league in both SO/9 and BB/9 since Walter Johnson in 1913.
  10. Someone on Brewerfan.net predicted that Jeff McNeil would become the next Christian Yelich but it appears the opposite has happened.
  11. It's entirely possible that the Dodgers acquired both the NL MVP and NL CY Young winner in the same Trade Deadline deal with the Nationals.
  12. Why would the Brewers not have more of a vested interest in preventing the Dodgers from winning the NL West?
  13. My guess at how the pitching matchups may lineup... Friday, Oct 8th RHP Corbin Burnes vs. RHP Charlie Morton Sat, Oct 9th RHP Brandon Woodruff vs. LHP Max Fried Monday, Oct 11th RHP Freddy Peralta at RHP Ian Anderson Tuesday, Oct 12th LHP Eric Lauer at RHP Huascar Ynoa (If necessary- either team likely to pitch Burnes/Morton on 3 days rest if down 2-1) Thursday, Oct 14th RHP Corbin Burnes vs. RHP Charlie Morton (If necessary) Starting Pitching Advantage: Brewers I think they use Houser to piggyback with Lauer or when needed if any starter is struggling/doesn't seem to have his best stuff Bullpen Breakdown Brewers: Houser, Ashby (L), Cousins, Strickland, Suter (L), Boxberger, Hader (L) Braves: Newcomb (L), Martin, Minter (L), Rodriquez, Matzek (L), Jackson, WSmith (L) Braves have a bevy of LHP but I think the Brewers still have better bullpen even without the Wallbanger. Advantage: Brewers Position by Position Breakdown C Omar Narvaez vs. C Travis D'Arnaud Narvaez has had a terrible 2nd half at the plate and D'Arnaud has been hitting well since returning from injury. Advantage: Even 1B Eduardo Escobar/Tellez/Vogelbach vs. 1B Freddie Freeman Freeman is the best hitter on either club. Advantage: Braves 2B Kolton Wong vs. 2B Ozzie Albies I will give the Braves the slight advantage here. Advantage: Braves 3B Luis Urias vs. 3B Austin Riley Urias has been swinging a hot bat, but so has Riley. Advantage: Even SS Willy Adames vs. SS Dansby Swanson Adames, if healthy, is the reason the Brewers offense got us here. Advantage: Brewers LF Christian Yelich vs. LF Eddie Rosario I'm still counting on MVP Yelich to show up in postseason. Advantage: Brewers CF Lorenzo Cain vs. CF Adam Duvall Duvall is the type of player that gives the Brewers fits. Advantage: Braves RF Avisail Garcia vs. RF Jorge Soler Soler has been putting together solid ABs as a Brave but Garcia has had a great season. Advantage: Brewers Bench Brewers: Pina, Voggy, Tellez, Taylor, Bradley Jr. Braves: Contreras, Ardianaza, Arcia, Pederson, Heredia Advantage: Even I think this matchup is pretty even, but I think the Brewers win in 5 because of home field and overall pitching, with Burnes and Yelich being the x-factors.
  14. I'm most worried about facing LHP Max Fried, as he's been one of the hottest pitchers in baseball for the last two months. In fact, he's posted 12 consecutive quality starts since 7/28, that includes two complete game shutouts.
  15. “If you judge any person by their worst moment, we aren't going to like what we see in any of us,” - David Stearns I think his teammates will be more understanding and forgiving of his mistake than fans of the team. Live and learn.
  16. Burnes now currently holds the NL ERA title over Scherzer, 2.29 to 2.46 Let's just assume Craig allows Corbin to pitch 5 inning this Saturday to give him an even 170 IP on the season. In order to lose the ERA title, Corbin would need to give up 5+ Earned Runs in those 5 innings for Scherzer to overtake him. In 5 IP in his last start of the season, below is the ERA Burnes would finish with based on Earned Runs allowed this Saturday. 5 ER = 2.488 ERA 4 ER = 2.435 ERA 3 ER = 2.382 ERA 2 ER = 2.329 ERA 1 ER = 2.276 ERA 0 ER = 2.223 ERA This is not the only stat voters will look at but I think it might be the number one ranked stat they will traditionally go on. GO CORBIN!!!! P.S. Walker Buehler currently has 2.49 ERA and could pitch in a game 163 if necessary BTW
  17. Interesting question, but if this was 20+ years ago wouldn't Julio Urias be the front runner for the award? LHP Julio Urias (LAD) 19-3, 3.01 ERA, 179.1 IP, 188K, 1.02 WHIP Brewers are the only thing standing in his way from finishing the year with a 20-3 W/L record. It's crazy that he's not even being mentioned as a candidate for the Award. The World of Baseball has changed. lol
  18. This article explains why Burnes should be the favorite for the NL award. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-breakdown-is-corbin-burnes-the-nl-cy-young-favorite
  19. Almost all sports betting sites have moved Burnes to -175 or more and is now the favorite for NL CY Young... https://www.rotowire.com/betting/mlb/player-futures.php And BTW, please don't pay anything to help keep Keith Law employed. Thank you in advance.
  20. Both with one start to go... Wins Burnes 11 Scherzer 14 IP Burnes 165 Scherzer 174 ERA Burnes 2.29 Scherzer 2.28 FIP Burnes 1.56 Scherzer 2.86 xFIP Burnes 2.29 Scherzer 2.39 K% Burnes 35.5 Scherzer 34.8 B% Burnes 5.1 Scherzer 5.4 HR/9 Burnes 0.33 Scherzer 1.09 BABIP Burnes 0.308 Scherzer 0.237 fWAR Burnes 7.6 Scherzer 5.5 bWAR Burnes 5.7 Scherzer 6.3 My scorecard shows Burnes 6 Scherzer 5. Will the NL CY Young come down to their last regular season starts?
  21. In the spirit of managing innings, Woodruff if going to end regular season with 10+ more IP on the year than Burnes and 30+ more than any other Brewer. I think Tuesday is his last regular season start and he pitches a SIM game early next week to stay fresh. I think they use Houser to piggyback with Lauer or when needed if any starter is struggling/doesn't seem to have his best stuff
  22. Hard to envision the Brewers winning the World Series with Yelich on the bench or hitting low in the lineup. I think Brewers need to use the last 9 regular season games to get him going and his confidence up. Especially with Division and playoff seeding essentially decided.
  23. With 10 days left in the regular MLB season, I think the NL CY Young has realistically come down to a two horse race. Burnes is likely to get two final starts and it seems as though Scherzer will have one start remaining. Let's line up the traditional pitching stats as of September 24, 2021 2021 STATISTICS GS IP W L H BB K WHIP ERA Corbin Burnes 26 158 10 4 116 32 221 0.94 2.33 Max Scherzer 29 174 15 4 108 36 232 0.83 2.28 Their stats are nearly identical across the board. Max is likely to end the regular season with about 10 more IP, plus a few more wins and strikeouts. One x factor could also be that if the Giants and Dodgers end regular seasons tied for division lead, then Max could pitch in game 163, which would count toward regular season stats. Most online betting sportsbooks have Max as the favorite as of today Schezer -210 Burnes +200 Some other tidbits on each candidate: Max Scherzer - Has pitched for two different NL teams this season- Nationals and Dodgers- Only other CY Winner to ever do this was Rick Sutcliffe in 1984. - Scherzer has been dominate as a Dodger in August and September - Scherzer has won 3 CY Young awards- 2 as National and 1 as a Tiger - Teammate Walker Buehler is a legitimate candidate as well and Julio Urias should also finish top 10 in voting. Corbin Burnes - Started the season with a record 58 IP before issuing a walk - In August, Burnes struck out 10 consecutive batters to tie MLB record - On September 11, 2021 Burnes pitched 8 inning of a combined no-hitter with teammate Josh Hader, the franchises first in 34 years. - Teammates Woodruff and Peralta will likely each finish in top 10 NL CY Voting as well. - Burnes has never won a CY Young Award but would clearly be the Brewers MVP for the season as well. He also started All-Star game for NL. I really think the if Burnes has two(2) more 6+ inning gems in him to close out the regular season, he has a real shot at winning the award. What are your thoughts?
  24. This is my thoughts exactly. With that being said, this team is special and it was still something the team hasn't accomplished in 34 years. That's like half a lifetime fellas. Enjoy it.
