  1. Sad. I’d hope anyone wanting more signings would also care about the quality of signing (which is all I’ve seen)
  2. I’d imagine you didn’t see anyone say “sign anyone regardless of their quality as a player”
  3. Not much to be excited about. He hasn’t been any good for a few years. But unsullied he’s a legit excuse for Turang service time shenanigans and he’s still relatively young
  4. I absolutely can use the pile of guys who are free agents after next year because I think I think they should have already extended at least one player, if not more, instead of cutting payroll this off-season. I also never mentioned the brewers letting guys walk previously aso idk what you’re point is here exactly. But in the last year they’ve traded They’re best hitter from 2022 and arguably the best reliever in baseball as salary dumps. And I’m actually more ok with the Hader trade than most people.
  5. I would agree, if they had reallocated those resources to extending one of their key players, or trading for or signing a good player
  6. I actually would prefer they use money they saved to sweeten the first year of an extension for Woodruff (Burnes of the price is reasonable). I also would’ve kept Renfroe instead of dumping him for some “meh” from the Angels if I wasn’t gonna use that money somewhere else. As far as free agent deals I would’ve done for about the same price (and at least one of these players likely would’ve been better off in MKE than where they did sign) would be: Michael Brantley, Josh Bell, JD Martinez (would’ve kept Wong if we signed any of them), Justin Turner, segura, Longoria, Drury, Boxberger, Wil Myers, probably some relievers I’m forgetting too
  7. The only fallacy being used is the (again) strawmanning of thinking anyone is saying “money fixes everything.” Whether those guys they have are homegrown or free agents is not the point l. The pint is that they spent more to KEEP those homegrown talents while many of the good players on the brewers will be gone in 2 years when their deals are up. Like I already said in my previous post, I wish they would spend by extending Burnes or Woodruff and start by paying them more this year
  8. Again, nobody says spending more guarantees winning and of course it must be done wisely. If the brewers spent more (and obviously did it wisely) it would make them better. Some people think they can and should do so. There’s a reason the Braves, Astros, and Dodgers are better teams than the Brewers. They’re just as smart but also spend money. That obviously doesn’t mean the Brewers can spend to those levels, but cutting payroll (like the Renfroe salary dump then not using that when Renfroe would be a good fit right now on the Brewers roster) while being competitive should be annoying to fans
  9. People who say “spending doesn’t equal winning” need to stop strawmanning. It would help the brewers if they spent more (while still being good At the things they’re currently good at) to get another good player or 2
  10. You mean Joey Weiner and Tyrone Taylor don’t have about the same value? Gasp!
  11. Maybe nobody knows this because he never mentions it, but Bill Schroeder actually caught the Juan Nieves no hitter (sarcasm)
  12. Apparently you must have an ERA that starts with a 6, even in AA, for the Brewers to be interested in you
  13. The dodgers declined his option at 16 and if they don’t want to pay him, I doubt other teams value him at that level. Maybe 12-14 with an option for 2024
  14. I wouldn’t mind Drury, but his continued breakout is far from a sure thing to continue. Plus, I don’t want Adames aka Javy Baez 2.0 hitting 2nd with a low OBP all-or-nothing approach, which Drury also has. That’s why I’d lean towards Justin Turner, who has more of the high-OBP approach this team needs and might be available for only a 1 year deal
  15. I’d rather just sign Justin Turner, who is basically the same player but with more recent success
  16. This team already needed an anchor bat before trading their best hitter from last year. As if now their lineup is a bunch of mediocrity and question marks. They really should get 2 legit bats if they plan on contending this year. One obviously can be at 1B/DH but after that, a second bat (depending on who is traded since I don’t see a double dip in higher end free agents) is going to be an interesting fit. Sean Murphy makes sense as Both a big bat and position of need, but cost a ton in prospects. Yandy Diaz should be a 1B/DH and only spot start at 3B. The Pirates won’t trade Reynolds despite perpetually posting 100 loss seasons. Do they believe Danny Jansen can hit like last year going forward? Ian Happ could Play Corner OF and some 1B/2B if the cubs would trade him.

  18. For AAA depth since Mitchell will probably be on the opening day roster
  19. I wholeheartedly agree with you that the Brewers should go through FA rather than trade. My pause there is that I don’t believe They’d spend enough to get Abreu (who I prefer they get). id actually agree after thinking about it more than Wiemer for Yandy straight up would not be enough. He still makes sense as a target, though. But I do hope they’re able to use fee agency to save taking too much from the farm system. I also hope they don’t come back with the same basic roster next year
  20. And likewise, just because the Brewers don’t have to trade from their OF surplus doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. Just because Diaz for Weiner theoretically could end up not working out doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done, since that applies to basically any trade. On a team that doesn’t spend, I couldn’t just fill the bike with Abreau like I would like to. Since money isn’t their resource to get talent, what is? A surplus of OF.
  21. Lol whoops I moved Rowdy to DH and forgot to put Diaz at 1B
  22. With Mitchell for Jansen, it’s a hard pill to swallow but that’s what it would take for a catcher who hits like him. That, plus the OF surplus and the blue jay need for a lefty batter and to get Springer out of CF makes it make sense for both sides. If it was an easy “yes” trade, it’s probably not even. With regards to Diaz, he’s literally not just an average guy. Last year he had an OBP over 400 and OPS+ of 140. Those are both far and away better than any Brewer. And with his ugly D at 3B he’s make for a much better 1B/DH/occasional 3B than any current options. His hitting is what the team needs, and he’s controlllable so it would take a talent like Weimer to get him
  23. -Trade garret Mitchell for Danny Jansen -trade Wiemer and Huira for Yandy Diaz -trade Tyrone Taylor for AJ Puk (saw that on another offseason Plan). -non-tender suter and Caratini -re-sign Boxberger for 2 million - get some utility SS (like Camaro) just to be depth/placeholder for a month to keep another year of control of Turang, who takes over the utility spot. C: Danny Jansen ($3.7M) 1B: Rowdy Tellez ($5.30M) 2B: Kolten Wong ($8.00M) 3B: Luis Urias ($4.30M) SS: Willy Adames ($9.20M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.70M) RF: Hunter Renfroe ($11.20M) DH: Rowdy Tellez ($5.3M) Bench OF: Esteury Ruiz ($0.70M) Utility: Mike Brosseau ($1.2M) Utility: Johan Camargo ($0.70M) Backup C: Pedro Severino ($0.70M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($11.40M) SP2: Brandon Woodruff ($11.00M) SP3: Freddy Peralta ($3.50M) SP4: Eric Lauer ($5.20M) SP5: Adrian Hauser ($3.60M) CL: Devin Williams ($3.20M) RP: Luis Perdomo ($1.00M) RP: Matt Bush ($2.00M) RP: Brad Boxberger ($2M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.10M) RP: AJ Puk ($.7M) RP: Aaron Ashby ($1.00M) RP: Trevor Gott ($1.40M) Payroll is 4.54% under budget
  24. I remember when Urias was supposed to be an 80-hit guy who could be 1 or 2 in the lineup. Now he has the approach if a power hitter without much power. I wonder how good he could’ve been if he didn’t fight having a contact-oriented approach and rolled with it instead.
