  1. The Brewers’ 6th and 7th round picks (Bennett and Holt) are my two favorite of their draft this year.
  2. Depending on how Peralta does in the rotation for the first six weeks or so, I’d like to see them entertain the idea of using either him or Jimmy Nelson (once/if healthy) as the team’s closer tandem with Hader. I like Jeffress better in lower leverage situations. IF we don’t sign Kimbrel.
  3. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Tristen Lutz 3. Corey Ray 4. Pablo Abreu 5. Brice Turang 6. Jake Gatewood 7. Aaron Ashby 8. Mauricio Dubon 9. Payton Henry 10. Trey Supak 11. Zack Brown 12. Micah Bello 13. Joe Gray 14. Lucas Erceg 15. Carlos Rodriguez 16. Wes Wilson 17. Troy Stokes 18. Je’Von Ward 19. Felix Valerio 20. Braden Webb 21. Chad McClanahan 22. LG Castillo 23. Trent Grisham 24. Yeison Coca 25. Lun Zhao 26. Branlyn Jaraba 27. Eduardo Garcia 28. Reese Olson 29. Wade Beasley 30. Noah Zavolas
  4. On top of Oakland trading away their Competitive Balance Round A selection for Profar, they also moved a bullpen piece that they had 5 years of control of (Emilio Pagan), prospect Eli White who hit very well in AA last season, and $750,000 in International Bonus Allotments. Yeah, I was slightly exaggerating due to my hope that we would make a play for Profar. I would easily have given up a couple additional depth pieces and some international money for him though. He’s versatile enough (2B/SS/3B/1B/LF) to continue getting consistent playing time even after Hiura and Dubon get the call.
  5. Meanwhile Oakland got Profar for what we gave up to get a lefty reliever with an 85-mph fastball...
  6. I like Peralta. But if I’m trading one of those three, it’s him. Burnes and Woodruff are mowing next year. That said, none is worth a year of Bumgarner. Though I do think he has some good years left for another team that wants to overpay.
  7. How does one not improve after posting several years of a 57 OPS+? There's literally only one direction he can go and that's up. Hiura is the 2b of the future and he'll be ready at some point this year (most likely). It makes *zero* sense to trade a Top 100/high value CF who's starting in AAA this year for 2yrs of Profar who will, at most, start 1yr at 2b then become a role player for us. And by role player I mean he's barely going to play because Aguilar, Hiura, Arcia, Shaw are getting all the run. And we'll also have Dubon. Now factor in how well Profar will perform in a bench role given he's never been in one. Just because Profar was solid in 2018 doesn't mean he's trending up. He was slightly better than Villar in overall production last year. That's not a guy you target in a trade with Hiura almost here let alone give up a top prospect for. I don’t value Ray as highly as you do. I see his most likely outcome as a fourth outfielder if he can make enough contact to stick in the majors. Profar essentially missed two full years of development and has already proven he can put up good at bats at the major league level after getting consistent playing time again.
  8. I’d still love a Profar for Corey Ray swap. The kid can play 5 positions, is a much better bet to hit major league pitching, and is still improving. I’d say Profar is the exact kind of player we could use.
  9. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Tristen Lutz 3. Brice Turang 4. Corey Ray 5. Jake Gatewood 6. Micah Bello 7. Trey Supak 8. Lucas Erceg 9. Zack Brown 10. Mauricio Dubon 11. Pablo Abreu 12. Payton Henry 13. Aaron Ashby 14. Carlos Rodriguez 15. Troy Stokes 16. LG Castillo 17. Joe Gray 18. Jacob Nottingham 19. Je’Von Ward 20. Marcos Diplan 21. Branlyn Jaraba 22. Wes Wilson 23. Larry Ernesto 24. Quintin Torres-Costa 25. Yeison Coca 26. Wade Beasley 27. Cody Ponce 28. Erys Bautista 29. Nathan Kirby 30. Braden Webb
  10. Dag. I'd always thought of him as a bat-first, big-bodied catcher with maybe average defense so I was excited to see the GG article. He is from a cold-weather state if I remember correctly though so possibly more room for improvement with good work ethic. He did throw out 44% of runners this past season.
  11. Troy Stokes too... although I thought his arm was cause for concern. Either way, good recognition for a couple crops on the farm.
  12. The kid keeps improving. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/rawlings-minor-league-baseball-announce-2018-gold-glove-awards/c-297380768
  13. I mean, I wanted him to be safe too but that was in no way a ridiculous call. Desmond threw late and Perez was “there” before the ball was but I didn’t see any part of his hand touch the bag before the tag. I did, however, see four fingers and a palm blocked by Arenado’s foot.
  14. Dude has had a .991 OPS in September coming into today. We're not playing today without him. Word.
  15. Exactly how I feel about him. I love watching Baez play. He's one of my personal favorite players in the majors.
  16. Adalberto Mondesi made his debut in the Playoffs a few years ago if I remember correctly. Edit: Someone beat me to it.
  17. The only player that hurt to see go at the time, for me, was Isan Diaz. I always hoped we'd trade Monte for something before he flamed out. Although I did expect at least a bit more out of Brinson. Anyway, Yelich is that dude and well worth it even if those guys were all having good seasons.
  18. reillymcshane, I edited my list August 2 (the day after I posted it) on page 2. Are you waiting for the poll to close before tallying up everything or should I re-post my list on this page?
  19. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Corbin Burnes 3. Tristen Lutz 4. Corey Ray 5. Jake Gatewood 6. Micah Bello 7. Lucas Erceg 8. Brice Turang 9. Zack Brown 10. Mauricio Dubon 11. Troy Stokes 12. Marcos Diplan 24. Blake Lillis 25. Gilbert Lara 26. Demi Orimoloye 27. Larry Ernesto 28. Trent Grisham 29. Justin Bullock 30. Chad McClanahan
  20. I hate this trade. Carmona is one of the few prospects the Brewers have who I can see being elite in the next few years and Schoop doesn't really add much to the team with the logjam they have now of 3B/2B to get into the lineup. I'd rather trot Shaw out at 2B daily. Very disappointed.
