  1. Kind of thought Ray would make it, he definitely has the credentials this year. Ray's trajectory kind of exposes some flaws in the ranking systems if you ask me. He was really overrated after the draft. Now he's been really underrated since then. One other flaw, I'm trying to figure out how Amaya belongs in the top 100. He's having an ok season in low a after 2 dreadful seasons, and it really was primarily one good month in April...he's been mediocre at best lately. He's a decent prospect, but to make these lists at that age/level...you really need to stand out and he doesn't. These pipeline guys just couldn't stand not having a cub in their top 100 could they? Amaya was a defense-first catching prospect. The fact that his bat is starting to come alive after moving up a level while showing good discipline for a 19 year old is standing out in my opinion.
  2. He ain’t going to get a better feel for his pitches in Colorado Springs.
  3. Yes, he tried to do too much on that slow-roller but he just had a game winner yesterday and he’s one of the best defensive short stops in the league.
  4. Barnes should’ve been out of that inning three times with a goose egg. Just putrid defense.
  5. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Corbin Burnes 3. Brandon Woodruff 4. Tristen Lutz 5. Jake Gatewood 6. Jean Carmona 7. Lucas Erceg 8. Luis Ortiz 9. Trent Grisham 10. Freddy Peralta 11. Brett Phillips 12. Corey Ray 13. Mauricio Dubon 14. Cody Ponce 15. Phil Bickford 16. Marcos Diplan 17. Jon Perrin 18. Gabriel Garcia 19. Adrian Houser 20. Jacob Nottingham 21. Nathan Kirby 22. Blake Lillis 23. Troy Stokes 24. Kodi Medeiros 25. Gilbert Lara I think Gatewood takes another step forward this year on his way to becoming our starting 1B in a few years. Lutz and Carmona will battle for the #1 spot over the next few years.
  6. Where are these sounds coming from? He’s looked perfectly fine there from what I’ve seen. He’s made a number of nice scoops, saved a throwing error, quick tags, a run-down.
  7. I'd prefer to keep Domingo over trading him for Salazar but if I HAD to trade with Cleveland, I better be bringing Nolan Jones back as part of the return.
  8. I was disappointed in the pick at the time as he seemed like another 4th outfielder. Now fourth oufielder seems optimistic.
  9. Cobb is the pitcher I wanted to begin with so I’d be pumped if he’s a Brewer. It would appear I’m in the minority of not wanting to trade for any of the pitchers discussed (though I do like Manaea but don’t think Oakland is looking to move him). I’d prefer to sign Cobb, play Braun at first, trade Thames and Broxton for some prospects, and go into the season with a rotation of Cobb, Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Woodruff until Jimmy comes back. I don’t think that’s a bad rotation and I see both Cobb and Woodruff outplaying their projections.
  10. Jurickson Profar I still believe in him as a major league starter. He’s been unable to get consistent playing time being blocked by Andrus and Odor so I don’t put too much into his recent major league numbers and he shouldn’t cost much in trade. He had an OPS in the mid-.800s in AAA last year I believe and had more walks than strikeouts. Oh, and throw some slick fielding in there. Yup.
  11. I'm pumped about the Noah Campbell pick. He was THE high school player I was hoping for after the first couple rounds.
  12. 1. Lewis Brinson 2. Isan Diaz 3. Josh Hader 4. Lucas Erceg 5. Corey Ray 6. Phil Bickford 7. Brandon Woodruff 8. Luis Ortiz 9. Jake Gatewood 10. Marcos Diplan 11. Gilbert Lara 12. Trent Clark 13. Gabriel Garcia 14. Mauricio Dubon 15. Cody Ponce 16. Jean Carmona 17. Corbin Burnes 18. Nathan Kirby 19. Brett Phillips 20. Jorge Lopez 21. Jacob Nottingham 22. Blake Lillis 23. Demi Orimoloye 24. Ryan Cordell 25. Nash Walters
  13. Blake Lillis - LHP Nash Walters - RHP Jean Carmona - 3B
  14. Back half of the top 10 seems like the perfect position to grab by personal favorite pitcher in this class -- Hagen Danner.
  15. Ronald Guzman is my preference at this point. And this is coming from a guy who posted multiple times early in the year that I wanted Jurado AND Payano (with Profar). While I like both of those pitchers quite a bit, they are mid-late rotation starters at best. I'm going ceiling here, regardless of floor. I'd be happy with any of the four but I want: Guzman, Matuella, Jurado, Payano. In that order.
  16. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Lewis Brinson 3. Isan Diaz 4. Josh Hader 5. Phil Bickford 6. Luis Ortiz 7. Trent Clark 8. Corey Ray 9. Gilbert Lara 10. Jake Gatewood 11. Marcos Diplan 12. Cody Ponce 13. Corbin Burnes 14. Brandon Woodruff 15. Brett Phillips 16. Nathan Kirby 17. Jacob Nottingham 18. Demi Orimoloye 19. Lucas Erceg 20. Jorge Lopez 21. Kodi Medeiros 22. Freddy Peralta 23. Devin Williams 24. Braden Webb 25. Miguel Diaz
  17. I'm guessing my Lucroy for Profar wish is no longer a possibility with Profar tearing it up in Arlington now.
  18. Yeah, San Francisco's farm is pretty barren. Bickford is about the only guy I'd have any interest in and his ceiling seems to be an occasional All-Star reliever.
  19. My initial disappointment in the Ray pick was because 3 of the 4 players I wanted over him were still on the board (Groome, Lowe, Rutherford). That said, he seems to have a high probability of reaching the majors compared to most and seems like a good kid. I'm not crazy about the next 2 picks (Erceg and Feliciano) but I LOVED rounds 3-6 -- especially Corbin Burnes and Payton Henry. Now just give me a couple of fliers on these kids and I'll be ecstatic: Carlos Cortes Blake Sabol Ray Gaither Will Ethridge
  20. What a boring first draft, DS...
  21. Most of my hopefuls have gone but I like Carlos Cortes. Some other young guys I'd like to take shots on (way) later: Blake Sabol Will Ethridge Ray Gaither
  22. Any change Groome, Rutherford, or Lowe is there with the 2nd pick?
  23. I'm personally glad we didn't go with Puk though. For pitchers, I wanted either Groome or Pint. And if a bat, MUUUCCH rather have Rutherford.
  24. So we got a lower ceiling Trent Clark?
