  1. Jeremy is truly winsome. I first started my Brewer love when he was drafted. To overcome everything he has gone through, to fight for his way back, and then to choose the Brewers again for his journey forward has been remarkable, rewarding, and a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Keep slingin' it!
  2. Honestly, who cares about the timeline? We're Brewers fans. Not like we can't stand some losing. And for real? Are we basing our franchise decisions on other franchises because we are intimidated because, "We can't compete until..." That's giving up. And that's why DS hasn't put a timeline on it. That being said, I feel Stearns doesn't care what level (other than MLB) a player is currently. I also feel he doesn't care which position they play. "Identify young, controllable talent." The only cog is that the higher they are in the minors, the more they cost. I trust his scouts and FO analytics more than anything I can read on the internet. Keep that cycle rotating. Young and controllable talent. Take care of the future and the future will take care of the present.
  3. Pretty much everyone who has posted is more informed about the prospects than I am. But I do know one thing, starting pitching is costly and unpredictable. Hopefully we can deal arms for arms. That being said, I feel like we're gunna have to dig deeper in the minors to get them though. The hit or miss possibility/injury is too hard to predict for anyone to give up any name(s) in a deal. I mean, Hader was a throw-in and now he's looking like a legit top-mid rotation starter. I love pitching but I'm not upset DS didn't put most of Lucroy's value in a position so volatile.
  4. It's not acceptable at the major league level. It's a good thing he's not there yet. He may never be a catcher but the guy is in AA. These players are being acquired for what they can be, not what they are. He'd be way more valuable as a catcher (if he could play the position adequately) but it isn't like we have a log-jam of first base prospects at AAA and AA.
  5. Last out at third with an unnessesary attempt at stealing third is frustrating beyond belief. Watching the, "great base runner," Cory Hart, get picked off when he wasn't fast enough to steal bases anymore made me want to swallow my own head. If I were manager, I wouldn't want anyone stealing third with two outs with either Villar, Braun, or Lucroy at the plate. With the K rate of this team combined with others' lack of offense, I'd rather see someone try to make something happen than a backwards K with a man in scoring position. That being said, we are halfway through ONE season. There's a lot of new blood and CC and staff are still learning about them. From what I gather, CC has told Villar to use his best judgment. To me, that's a challenge to make him more cerebral of a player and to think about the whole game more. He's still learning and growing. It's impossible to do that without making mistakes. Maybe he doesn't ever, "get it." If they decide that's the case, then you can go ahead and put up the stop sign. I just don't think you give people the best chance for growth when you handcuff them to what you think they're capable of.
  6. Santana looks like forgot how to play baseball today. Can't field and looks clueless at the plate.
  7. I'm not looking to readjust expectations. To me, this isn't a timetable question as it is a strength of organization question. Stearns (so far) appears to be in for the haul. We are getting deeper and stronger minor league talent than we have had in years. Yes, top prospects miss; but, if the continued growth and influx of talent continues, we will be able to consistently bring talent to the major league ball club. Stearns appears shrewd in acquiring talent and I'm interested to see what comes in the draft. Take care of the future and the future will take care of the present. We have a lot of question marks. Guys struggling, guys being good. We are a month into the season so I'm not ready to make any declarations. Some can be attributed to bad luck or maybe slow/hot starts. Also, keep in mind some of these guys have bounced levels in the last year and it's going to be an adjustment for them as well as the competition they are facing. There are too many moving parts and such a shallow sample size to consider changing expectations.
  8. It definitely is. I am enjoying learning about the new influx of players though. I know he has an option, just not sure if it is his final one. As far as the actual demotion, it makes sense. Broxton is not hitting and looks like he needs some time at AAA. We can make due with the current guys for a while. It does make me hopeful they do end up bringing up Reed. Many don't think he is a CF but he's seeing more time there, has been hot, and has the speed to swipe some bases. If he only bats against lefties, he is more than likely a better option than what we currently have. Regardless, I think we are going to see a lot of movement with personnel this year.
  9. If I recall, Liriano was the one with no options left and Broxton had one (just used). That's why most expected Liriano to make the roster over Broxton until his injury.
  10. That word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Figuratively literally? I had a few beers celebrating the win... At least that's what I'll blame it on!
  11. The guy is worse than Walsh at third. He might be a slight upgrade over Carter, defensively, at first. To top it off, he can't hit anymore. He's a non-hitting DH. The Red Sox are better dumping his contract than giving up prospects to trade him-it's not like they can't afford it. The small chance that he can or even wants to bounce back isn't close to worth it to a team in our current circumstance. He's literally dead weight on a team that's going to have a lot of moving pieces by the time his contract expires. A hard pass.
  12. Pena was advertised as having a big arm and control issues. He doesn't have the big arm any longer and now he sits low 90's-still having command issues. He likely only made the team due to injuries and since he's been DFA'd before, it would seem likely there won't be many suitors once again. It's unfortunate he never developed but it doesn't seem we're giving up too soon by any stretch of the imagination.
  13. I fully agree. Hasn't been pitching long but the guy throws it with some hair on it. Might as well give him every opportunity to stick.
  14. I really like the trade. I liked Wagner but it seems the Brewers have a lot of similar ceiling arms in the minors already. Diaz is the prize and I don't really consider Hill in this trade. The money owed isn't all that significant considering the current payroll situation. It's not a given he makes it out of spring training-or any of the guys Stearns has brought on board to the major league club for that matter. He's at worst a bad backup at 2B/3B on a not very good team. I'm also not too concerned about the log-jam at certain positions or how the 25-man/40-man will fill out. Stearns has a whole lot of time and pieces to play with, considering it's February 1st. I think spring training will answer our questions on who the roster consists of and where said players fit in Milwaukee. There are very few players Stearns has brought aboard this off-season in which he gave up much/anything so I doubt he'd bat an eye to DFA a single one. Everyone has their favorite players they want to do well out of the group but it really is a crap-shoot at this point... And I'm weirdly excited about it.
