  1. Nowicki signed a FA contract with the O's. Here is a link to a site with some of the recent WI draft kids. Go HERE: Here is a link to this year's draft guys from WI (most of them at least) Link
  2. The Brewers had worked out a pre-draft deal for Butler in the 2nd round. I guess they had agreed on a number and eveything over the phone. When their pick came, they passed. This sort of thing does happen, but I don't blame the kid at all for being a little bitter. To compare him to Reggie Bush is kinda silly...he's a great kid who felt like he got a little slighted. Maybe I wouldn't have brought it up in the news but you can't blame him for how he felt. He wanted to play for his hometown team. Can you blame him?
  3. FYI, The Brewers had an invite only workout on Saturday at MP for prospects that they are considering for the draft. Players in attendance included: Hank Conger Torre Langley Devin Shepard (who I think will be a steal in the 2nd round) Brennan Boesch Kasey Kiker Tony Butler Wes Munson and more...
  4. Catchers' running speed is rarely looked at. That being said 7.3 speed is like a 25-30 runner.
  5. Blasphemy! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif That's awesome...well done.
  7. I found this Cole Hamels fact pretty hilarious:
  8. I told you last year that I thought Adams was the best prep bat available. He's making me feel pretty good about that assessment. I would have liked to see the Brewers take a shot on him, but I think signability was a concern out of the top 3-4 rounds or so.
  9. I actually thought it was a great idea.
  10. I wish they still made toons like that...classic! Bugs throws gas! Actually there are striking similarities between Bugs and Bill Hall.
  11. Hey we cut it in half. Nicehttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Hey it only took us 16 innings to get that run..http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  13. Billy Hall continues to mash. This guy needs to play everyday.
  14. Your Milwaukee Brewers, providing the nation with wind power since 1982.
  15. At least Jake Peavy is having fun..http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif This is embarrassing.
  16. Bill Hall is so good that....aw nevermindhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  17. Our pitching needs help... Hopefully Dana is the answer..
  18. bases loaded and 0 outs...greathttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  19. -Bill Hall doesn't pop out, he hits the ball around the world and it just happens to stop in the outfield...on its 5th revolution. -Bill Hall's groundballs turn natural grass into field turf. -Bill Hall doesn't chew tobacco. Tobacco is for sissies. Bill Hall chews asbestos. -Bill Hall didn't toil in the minor leagues, he actually is a natural lefty who was teaching himself to hit right-handed out of fairness to the league. -Davy Lopes, and Jerry Royster were allowed to live after Bill Hall fired them. They are the only known men to have crossed Bill Hall and lived to talk about it...Bill Hall is merciful. -Bill Hall's throws produce enough energy to light the entire US. -Bill Hall thinks we should drill in ANWR so he can take a break from powering the world.
  20. -Bill Hall's used gum sold on Ebay for $1 billion...he promptly used the proceeds to cure cancer. -OF walls aren't padded to protect Bill Hall from hurting himself, they're padded to protect the wall from Bill Hall. -Bill Hall swings a special bat in the on deck circle; it's made of lead and weighs 100 lbs. -Bill Hall hits right handed out of pity for pitchers. -Bill Hall hates Barry Bonds for using the steroids cream and clear (AKA Bill Hall's sweat) -Pitchers don't sweat becasue they're hot, they sweat because Bill Hall is on deck.
  21. Bomber, I would guess that Berken and Rohlinger would battle for the earliest pick. Berken is a smallish RHP and some teams are scared of those guys, especially ones with TJ surgery in the past. Rohlinger has put up huge numbers for 3 years in one of the top 2-3 college conferences in the country. His slug% is very high for a 2b (where he projects as a pro). I'd think he'd be a very attractive player for a saber-friendly team like Oak, Bos, or Tor. Zink will be a late round pick (due to his being hurt all year) and may not get selected at all. (Because I would doubt he'd sign) Maday is probably a mid round guy (10-15th) based on his stuff alone. Dave Jorn, the pitching coach at Ark, told me last summer that Daryl has the best stuff on his staff, he just needs to put the mental part of it together.
  22. I would say for the HS level it is comparable maybe a tick better. You could have 2 guys go in the top 6-7 rounds (I won't say which ones). You could also have a handful of guys that fall into the mid/late rounds or become DNF guys. In the college ranks, I'd say this is the weakest draft in some years. UWW, UWO, and UWSP really have 0 pro guys. UWM has Goetz and maybe 1 or 2 others but that's it. I would also say you may see a DNF situation for a few of the JC guys. Overall, the 06 HS class nationally is a little down, but WI is having a good year. College is the exact opposite.
  23. They really are the best aren't they? They could sit back on their laurels and just bask in how good they are but instead they put in massive time, effort, and money and make things even better. Awesome. On a side note I was able to watch video of one of my favorite players for next year taking BP. If you guys want to see a big league swing with easy light tower power watch Danny Rams hit at the 2005 National Showcase...that dude is gonna be a big leaguer. He's only a high school junior.
  24. Depends... No bonuses for signing players. Clubs used to do that but realized it was bad business. Ex: Scout sees a kid he thinks is a borderline prospect. He then props up his evaluation of the kid to get him signed to make himself some money. Not good business. Average starting salary for an area scout is about $30K (depends on organization and experience). But...they get an expense account, a car (and insurance), and the MLB health plan. Plus you get to watch baseball for a living.
  25. Was it Johnny Logan? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Possible WI HS draft guys: RJ Seidel RHP LAX Central Tony Butler LHP Oak Creek Chris Roberts IF/OF Oshkosh West Chad Pierce C Fond du Lac Wes Munson IF Fond du Lac and another couple of guys I can't give you... Possible College draft guys Ryan Rohlinger IF Oklahoma Jason Berken RHP Clemson Daryl Maday RHP Arkansas Mike Goetz OF UW Milwaukee and another couple of guys I can't give you...
