  6. Even the troops agree.... http://www.strainphoto.com/images/Downrange1/Broom%20Hockey%20(7).JPG Brewers Sweep is on the way!!!
  7. Cappy is just as capable of "moving runners" with men on 2nd and 3rd as JJ is trying to get them there. Someone suggested that you let JJ hit to try and drive in a run....unless the ball is in the gap Miller is not scoring on a hit....so basically IF JJ gets a hit (still a .200 hitter btw) your best case in bases loaded with 0 outs and Cappy up....no better that 1 out 2nd & 3rd and cappy up. I'd bunt 10 times outta 10 with men on 1st & 2nd JJ up and Cappy on deck! If it was a different 8 hole hitter or a different pitcher, the situation would be different.
  8. That's one of the worst innings execution-wise that we've had all year....
  9. Uke and his window story....wearing me outhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  10. More Crow... Kevin Tomasiewicz to the Mets in the 26th round... Rohlinger in the 21st to the Cards... Congrats to both! The draft never ceases to amaze me...
  11. BB, Ryan Rote was a former Wisconsin Blazer.... The other WI kid to go today was Kevyn Feiner from Sun Prairie HS to the Reds in round 18... I profiled him a while back but I see some of that stuff disappeared. Kevyn is a IF and is commited to Illinois, his brother Korey is a farmhand for the Twins (at Beloit I believe) he signed as a FA from UW-Oshkosh.
  12. I'll gladly eat Crow on this one.... Greg Reinhard from UW-Whitwater to the TB-D-rays in the 6th round...congrats to a WI kid. I had him much lower...I never saw him at his best this spring. Good for a kid from Marinette...
  13. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif jwaltz...now that was comedy
  14. 5th Round..... Kevin Roberts RHP- U of Houston
  15. Wasted 3rd rounder...there were 20 HS pitchers better than the guy we took.... Jeremy Hellickson being one of them....garbage!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  16. Scoop, Yeah but he's prolly like 100th in fielding...the guy is a bit rough as a fielder (stiff upper body). Plus for me he's one of those long swingers that sometimes have trouble with wood... Edit:add hit comment
  17. I got my own little war room set up.... I hope I don't get fired for all the lack of workhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. I've been on record with Maybin for a while.... I also want to go on record as saying I think Tulo will be a bust...I hope we stay far away from him.
  19. I'm like a kid on Christmas....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif No matter how many of these things I go through, they never get old...
  20. Just for the record I hate metal bats... For me a kid's swing path and length is something to consider when going from metal to wood. Longer swingers or kids with a big uppercut often have a harder time adjusting to wood. Kids who have a lot of extra (wasted) movement with an aluminum bat usually have a harder time with wood also. A compact, simple approach is usually a good start (for me at least). Some players get by with pure ability no matter what they are swinging or how they are swinging it. (those guys are usually pretty easy to spot) Colby also touched on batspeed (which can be very deceiving with metal) Players that swing with good batspeed...you can hear it when they swing with wood. A guy I learned some things about scouting hitters from used to turn his back away from the cage and scout the sound for guys with good bat speed. (he was right on guys 99% of the time). Also a real subtle thing to watch is how well a player tracks the ball visually (very hard to do watching a game on TV and even some video) but it tells you a lot about good hitters. Kids that track the ball well usually hit the ball square no matter what type of bat they're holding (Gordan is a great example)
  21. Perfect Game has profiled Cameron Maybin on their website today for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing. Paints a pretty accurate picture of him and his ability. What's not mentioned is his makeup which is off the charts...we'll call it his 6th tool. PG Maybin Profile
  22. I would add that Maybin's arm is his only non-plus tool. He's a 50-55 thrower right now (I think he threw 87 at the PG national) Playable from any OF spot for sure but not one of the bigger "raw arm" guys by any means. Still I love his all around athleticism, and his makeup is off the charts. As for the Milledge comparison....he's closer to the type of player that McCutchen is with more raw power. Body types are similar and arm (McCuthchen actually has a better arm than Maybin) and speed are similar. Maybin is a different type all together...
