  1. Its really too bad we burned our bridges with him. I'm as guilty as anyone for being frustrated with his injuries. But as often as he was hurt, you really can't knock the success. He'd be a great addition to the rotation for next year and help bridge the gap until any of our prospects are ready.
  2. Braddock has been nothing short of dominating this season. If he can continue this success as a starter over the next two seasons, I can see him as a top 20 prospect. I just pray the Brewers don't limit his upside by keeping him in the bullpen. By "protecting his arm", they are essentially acting as though they are scared to let him start which is no way to treat a prospect.
  3. I think Salome will be a huge addition to the lineup when hes up. After a terrible start in Nashville, hes all the way up to like .280. Kendall has been great defensively the past w seasons, but the catching spot has been a black hole in the lineup. If Salome can hit .290 with 15-20 home runs, that'll improve the offense dramatically. If Gamel does what we all think he can we'll also get rid of the black hole we've had at third base the past few seasons. I think even if we lose Fielder, we'll have a more balanced lineup, especially if you can get some guys to hit for average. We just don't have enough spots for everyone. Next season we have Gamel, McGeHee, Hardy, Escobar and Weeks for three positions, plus maybe even Heether and Counsell. And you cant just throw Irabarren back in Nashville, he deserves a shot too. It'll definitely be an interesting off season.
  4. But you also have to consider the fact that you will probably lose him because he won't want to sign for what we're likely to offer. I'd love to keep Prince for another 5 years, but I've always seen the past 2 seasons what hoping for draft picks is going to get you. I'd probably keep him for another year than more than likely trade him before the final year of his contract. Hopefully by this time next season we'll have a better idea of some of our pitching prospects like Anundson, Braddock, Rogers, Odorizzi, and Arnett, in which case you can maybe trade Fielder for some hitters.
  5. Remember that Miguel Cabrera with 2 years left netted top prospects Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin and three other prospects including now serviceable major leaguer Burke Badenhop and two others. The Tigers also got a pre-meltdown Dontrelle Willis in that deal too though IIRC. I'd love to see him go to SF for pitching, something either like Matt Cain or Madison Baumgartner. The only question is who replaces Fielder at first, and in the lineup? Without adequate protection Ryan Braun won't see half the pitches he sees this year.
  6. This would be a perfect time to move Rickie Weeks to center field. We are loaded with infielders next season (McGehee, Hall, Hardy, Escobar, Fielder, Gamel, Heether, possibly Counsell). I wouldn't mind seeing Weeks in center, Gamel in right, and Hart traded, although it may be a very long year defensively. That would allow either Hardy, McGehee and Escobar to play at some combination of third, short, and second, with Bill Hall, Adam Heether, and Craig Counsell fighting to be the two backups.
  7. The Brewers have a guy in Nashville who deserves a shot. Adam Heether has been tearing it up. He's not a top notch prospect like Gamel so him sitting on the bench 4 days a week won't be as big of a deal. I just don't understand their current strategy. You bring up your #1 prospect and you sit him on the bench? What is the point? Then Macha continues to start Bill Hall even though Bill Hall is easily the worst hitter on the team. I don't get it.
  8. I think he could possibly get a shot next season, but this season is too soon. He needs to prove that he can command his pitches. I think its more likely Chris Cody would get a shot first. Plus Manny Parra will be up soon and Bush will be off the DL too eventually.
  9. He is going to start, but he's only going to pitch two innings at a time....wait......
  10. Gamel is not going to be sent down to AAA anytime soon even with that trade Why not? I've never understood why you bring up a young player and sit him on the bench. Let him get his regular at bats in Nashville and while he's at it he can get some practice at third base. McGehee has proven to be a valuable asset who should be playing every day. If we get Lopez McGehee should be playing third base with Counsell being the primary backup, which leaves no real reason to keep Gamel on the roster.
  11. I think Macha needs to stick with a lineup. I think Casey McGehee should be playing second base every day and be batting #2 every day. As much as I don't like Gamel batting leadoff, what other options do we have? I'd go with... 1)Gamel/Counsell 2)McGehee 3)Braun 4)Fielder 5)Hart 6)Hardy 7)Cameron 8)Kendall On a side note, why is Bill Hall still on this roster? He has done nothing to justify his spot. Send him to Nashville. If he refuses or gets claimed or whatever the case may be (I don't know what sending him to Nashville would entail), then who cares. I'd rather have Adam Heether or Hernan Irabarren on the team than Hall.
  12. Why don't they start him and limit his innings like the do with Rogers? Someone who is this dominating should not be pitching out of the bullpen if he's capable of starting.
  13. If we are going to be buyers, we need to buy big like we did last season. I don't want to trade for a .500 pitcher with an era over 4. I still would go after Peavy, because he'll be back for probably half the season, plus you get him for 2 more years and his price is probably down a hair now that he's hurt. Either Peavy, Lee, or Bedard would be ok with me. The problem with selling is who are you going to sell that's going to bring anything? Hardy? He's barely hitting .200. Fielder? We still control him for 2 years and have no capable replacement so that hurts you for next you as well too. Cameron? Is he really going to bring in more than a possible #4 or #5 pitcher?
  14. Its one thing though to let him walk. That would basically be saying we don't want him. All I was getting at is that I don't think we should automatically assume that we can't resign him if we want to.
  15. Why do we just assume Hardy is going to leave for free agency? The Yankees don't need him. The Mets don't need him. Boston may go after him but they're starting to show a little hesitation throwing big bucks at free agents. Hardy is not exactly having an all star caliber season right now either. I'd be willing to guess if we trade Escobar, which shows Hardy he will be the shortstop, and offer him a good, fair contract, he'd resign in Milwaukee.
  16. No Seth Lintz in Helena? but if he was drafted by the Brewers out of high school with pitch counts that high I'd be going crazy. How about protecting the player's career a little bit? I'm a little late on this, so I apologize. I can understand the frustration over his use, but a college coach's job is to win games, not to ensure his players have a good career afterward. I'd be willing to guess Arnett didn't ask to be taken out of those games only to be denied by the coach.
  17. I'd like to see Adam Heether be given a shot. My first choice would be to play Gamel every day for a month and see what happens. But if he's going to be platooned, let him get his AB's in Nashville.
  18. Wouldn't it be something if the Nationals got both of these guys? That's the way it should be too. They are in terrible shape right now and deserve to draft the best guys. I guess they just kind of lucked out about the timing of their awful teams.
  19. I think they should keep the compensation picks, but adjust them. For instance, instead of a team losing their "first rounder" if they sign a certain player, they should lose their first pick. Same with "second rounder". They shouldn't lose their second rounder, they should lose their second pick. The Yankees (of course it would be them) really got a sweet deal out of that system. I also like the idea of trading draft picks. The two other changes I'd want to see most is a rookie salary cap and a world wide draft. I have never understood why someone from Canada has to get drafted but someone from Japan or Cuba is a free agent. Baseball's draft is so screwed up its basically a joke. I remember when the Brewers had the #2 pick, another team that had made the playoffs, I wanna say the A's or Angels, got like 7 picks before the Brewers picked again. And the best players are getting passed over over "signability" concerns, which should never be the case in any sport. Fix the draft, and fix it entirely. Thats what I want to see.
  20. If it doesn't take anything much, why not? I'd probably rather have him in the rotation if someone goes down than Chase Wright or Nick Green.
  21. I hate to root for injuries to players that don't play for the Cubs or Yankees, but it would really be something to see a guy like Aaron Crow or Luke Hochevar completely blow out his arm while in the Indy Leagues. It would give something all these player who turn down a guaranteed $2 million because they want $3 million something to think about. If I were to draft Aaron Crow this year, I wouldn't offer him any more than Washington offered last year. His agent is sitting here saying "Oh you can get more than that", and then more isn't even offered. I'm sure the last thing Crow wants to do is play another season with the Fort Worth Cats instead of making $3 million dollars and having the chance to play major league baseball.
  22. Is Josh Butler going to stay in Nashville? I just assumed he got called up to replace a starter who was unable to start or something.
  23. I thought that Jones should have been moved to relief, but you can't argue with his results so far this year. I figure as long as he is pitching well as a starter, and keeping the walks down, why not let him continue on? The thing that would worry me most about moving Jones to relief would be that after this season he would bolt for somewhere else to be a starter. I would love to see him make it to the big leagues, but if he does I really hope its with Milwaukee. As far as Rogers and Braddock go, I guess I'm ok with what they're doing now. Braddock has been absolutely dominant and I would love to see him get some more innings, but I guess as long as we have them under control for a few more seasons what's the rush.
  24. Yeah hopefully another start or two like that he gets some confidence back.
  25. Is Mark Rogers ever going to pitch more than 2 innings?
