  1. I am really starting to worry about the future of this franchise. The pitching staff was supposed to be the highlight of this team and yet they are awful. We cannot build around Peralta and Jungmann. Nelson is really the only guy I see that still has a chance to get better. And looking at the minors we have, what, a couple of mid rotation guys in Hader and Lopez and then nothing. The last major bout of success we had in 2010-2011 with the likes of Fielder, Hart, Braun and Weeks was cut short due to a lack of high end pitching. And the high end pitching we DID have, mainly Greinke, was acquired as a short term rental. We cannot be successful throwing out a bunch of mid to back rotation guys every night but we don't have anyone in the entire system who projects to be better than that.
  2. Admirals are moving into the Panther Arena starting next season. They aren't even finishing out the Bradley Centers time. For sure not playing in the new arena.
  3. I didn't want to start a new thread on this because it's just one comment, but I didn't know where else to put it. Anyway, it looks as if the new Bucks arena will include the ability to hold an NHL approved ice rink. That's great news to me. I was pissed at the thought of never having the Frozen Four in Milwaukee again and now I'd say it's likely. I think they'll also shoot for some NHL exhibition games. I'd love to see them bring the Big 10 hockey tournament in as well. And even though I know it's very unlikely, it at least keeps my dream of an NHL franchise alive. I just wonder how well a match an ice rink in a basketball arena will be for hockey. I know the new arena the NY Islanders play in is a pretty bad setup for hockey.
  4. I was doing some research online and found a product called phantom aerosol spray. Anyone have any experience with this product?
  5. Wouldn't Houston just let his contract run out and offer him a QO instead of trading him for garbage? Sure he may take it but even then it's only a one year deal and you give him a chance to regain some value. Id guess Gomez is looking for a multi year deal given his age so him accepting the QO is no given.
  6. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Braun finish his career in Milwaukee and get his number retired. I'm all for the rebuild but I just don't see, given his age, his contract, his injury history and his ped baggage that you'll ever get a worth while offer. He seems like a very good team player. He's made no comments on the current state of the team, unlike Lucroy. He's changed positions three times for the sake of the team. And he's still putting up good numbers. Hopefully by the end of his contract there will be a DH in the NL which would be perfect for him. If you get a good offer, sure trade him. But I am good with keeping him.
  7. So as I was hooking up my garden hose today I noticed two wasps fly into a tiny hole in the siding of my house. I had previously noticed a lot of wasp activity in that area and found one wasp in my house the other day. I took some wasp killer and sprayed it into the small opening in the siding. I bought some clear silicon sealer but haven't sealed it yet bc it was raining and I also wanted to spray some wasp killer into the hole a few more times. I assume there's a nest in there but don't know where. I have no idea if the killer is getting the job done or not. Obviously I don't want the nest to grow and get out of hand. Anyone have any advice. Is this something I need to get a professional for or is spraying and sealing good enough?
  8. Regardless of whether or not it's relevant it is in bad taste to come on this site for no reason other than to advertise his site. If you want to mention it once or twice and provide a link while actively participating in the thread, cool. But his posts come off more as commercials then anything. There's nothing in there about a pick preference or scouting report or opinion or anything. Just "hey you want to know more about the players then you should go to this website".
  9. I still pray Puk Pint or Groome falls. I know it's risky, much riskier than a hitter, but we are desperate for an impact pitcher. I look at this organization and I see all of one pitcher with top of the rotation potential, that being Josh Hader. Lopez and Nelson are close but Lopez is struggling mightily this year. Maybe guys like Kirby and Ponce will show something when they come back next year but I'm very concerned about our pitching depth organization wide. And Lucroy is the only major trade asset we have left, the last opportunity well have for quite sometime to trade for a pitching prospect with top of the rotation potential. You don't reach and take someone who isn't deserving of #5 but I still hope that if any of those three are available we would grab one.
  10. Read an article on SI.com. A couple cities they brought up that I haven't seen mentioned yet, although all are essentially replacements for cities we've mentioned: Vancouver (as opposed to Portland). Austin (as opposed to San Antonio) and Monterrey (as opposed to Mexico City).
  11. AJ Puk is pitching on espnu right now if anyone is interested in taking a look at him.
  12. Yeah the blue Milwaukee jersey was/is the road alternative and the blue Brewers jersey was/is the home alternative. I have a blue Brewers jersey and I honestly don't even know if they wear it or not.
  13. Eh. The Dodgers, Cubs and Yankees seem to do ok. Granted those teams have a lot more history than us but I think they've all found a uniform that works and just let it be. I just think constantly changing the uniforms comes across as minor league-ish. Like they are only doing it for revenue instead of trying to find something that looks good. I actually don't mind this years caps with the ball and glove logo and the darker blue. I'd be fine with that as the main cap. I just don't like the constant switching. This isn't Oregon Ducks Football. Just find a logo and use it. And three jerseys, tops. You don't need a home and an away and a home alternate and an away altrnate and a Friday alternate and whatever else.
  14. You mentioned Rogers. He was also a hard throwing righty and I believe we picked him at #5. How does Pint compare to Rogers?
  15. I'm going to guess she is a Kenobi. Based on the accent.
  16. I still like Taylor but he has to do more. Michael Reed deserves first shot. I know he's not a true center fielder but if Domingo Santana and Corey Hart can play CF then so can Reed. Reed has a very good career OBP. He'll give you a decent average. A decent number of stolen bases. Ceiling probably isn't as high as Taylor but he's been good. He deserves a shot.
  17. Apparently JJ Abrams came out and said Rey's parents were NOT in episode VII. That rules out Han Leia and Luke. Obi-Wan is still a possibility. Also possible the parents are just whole new characters.
  18. This. This is a very good way of explaining it. His value could go up yet but given his age, his concussion, and the fact every game he plays with Milwaukee is one less game he plays with the team that trades for him I think that the chances his value goes down are just as high as the chances of his value going up. There are so many variables that we can only speculate. As I said I tend to be more cautious in nature than adventurous. If Texas offered me Tate and Brinson/Ortiz/Mazara Id jump on it. Some people would hold out for more. Just depends on your perspective I guess. Do we really know this though? We'd have to compare trade offers from the same team over two different periods of time. And we usually don't know for sure what an offer is. If Lucroy is traded to, for instance, Texas next offseason we'd have to know for certain what their offer was this past offseason in order to determine when the better time to trade him was. But we have no idea what Texas offered for him. I agree that if the top tier offers were on the table Stearns would have taken one. But that's assuming a top tier offer will actually be on the table. In Montys words maybe "good" is the best there's going to be because the teams that are interested in Lucroy just aren't that interested in him. But in my opinion a "good offer" is probably still better than a draft pick in the late 30s. Who knows. Everything is speculation. Let's just hope it ends well.
  19. I did miss it so my bad. I take back my insulting other posters comment. But I think it's fine for people to be nervous about the Lucroy situation. Like I said he's one more concussion from having zero value. He's another bad season away from killing his value. As I said it's a risk. And as plenty of posters, myself included, have shown with theoretical trade proposals, sometimes people tend to overvalue their own assets. I'm not suggesting Stearns is, but he's still new and I'm not ready to throw all my faith in him after a few minor trades. And as far as me bringing up DM, I wasn't really comparing the two. Just using DM to show that sometimes GMs hold onto players too long and it doesn't always end well. Like everyone else I want the best return for Lucroy. And my personal opinion is the sooner you trade him the better the return will be.
  20. Dude chill out. Nobody's "crucifying" Stearns. I know you're new to the forum here but generally insulting other posters isn't the best idea. People are allowed to express their opinions.
  21. My point is that there was a certain amount of time you have trade guys before their value starts to decrease rather significantly. No you didn't HAVE to trade Axford but closers are a dime a dozen. They could have traded him after 2010 when he had his career year or after 2011 when they had KRod under contract. Hart could have been moved in 2012 before he got hurt because the Brewers were clearly going nowhere. Some of it is luck but some of it is also recognizing what a guys max value is going to be. I'm not claiming Stearns has missed his chance because nobody knows, not even Stearns. I'm just saying I'd tend to be more cautious. I've always believed trading a guy with a two years left will get you more than trading him with one year left and trading him with one year left will get you more than trading him at the deadline. I can't imagine they'll let Lucroy walk with a QO. I just hope he doesn't get hurt or struggle again. It's a risk. But again, to just assume Stearns is going to handle this perfectly is just as wrong as assuming he's going to blow it. Lucroy isn't Jason Rogers or Luis Sardenas. There is a lot of pressure to get this right. Lucroy is our last major trade asset.
  22. Posts like this are very condescending. GMs are humans too. They make mistakes. It's possible Stearns has already turned down the best offer he's going to get. It's possible he overplayed his hand. Obviously we don't know but to just assume he is playing this out perfectly is not necessarily accurate either. People have every right to be nervous if they want. DM made some very good trades but he also waited way too long to move some guys and got little or no value for them. Hart and Axford come to mind. And the original Gomez deal was awful. Right now everything is just speculation but I'd hate to see Stearns make the same mistake Melvin did numerous times and kill Lucroys value by holding onto him too long. And also consider the concussion. One more and his trade value will be next to nothing.
  23. Can't the Brewers just leave their uniforms alone for awhile? Why do they have to tinker with them every single year? I don't buy much Brewers apparel but if I'm going spend $60 or whatever on a jersey I want to make sure it's not going to be outdated by next season. The ball and glove logo is fine but I don't like it enough to go back to full time. Using it as an alternate logo or patch on the uniforms is good enough for me.
  24. Colby I still believe we will get avery good player. Like I said I was just hoping for a player with one or two potential. I know you can't focus on one or two guys, although it's tempting with a top five pick, but I just can't help be disappointed with another outfielder. I don't need to revisit the BPA vs Position of need argument. Again, I was just hoping to be able to grab a super talented player while filling a pretty big organizational hole.
  25. This draft is shaping up to be rather disappointing for me. I was confident we'd be able to a get a starter with at least #2 potential but I don't see that happening anymore. Hanson is struggling mightily and his control seems awful. I wouldn't touch that. Groome will be #1. Pint is probably going to be gone. Put will probably be gone. Our system is still relatively thin in high end pitching talent. I was hoping we could improve that with the number five overall pick but it's looking unlikely.
