  1. The Brewers have done nothing to improve their team and now the wheels are falling off. Miller Park is going to be a graveyard in August and September. Not saying they should have overhauled but another quality pen arm and a replacement 2B or CF would have at least kept it interesting. I am hoping I am wrong but several players look inctedibly lost at the plate and that comes down to scouting reports.
  2. How is your surplus value looking tonight?
  3. 34 year old pitchers who can not make it a third time through the line up are not valuable trade assets. Keeping the same rotation will equal one thing and that is in wild card contention at best. I wouldn't label Garza as a surplus value. He is an aging MLB starter waiting for the wheels to fall off.
  4. 34 year old pitchers who can not make it a third time through the line up are not valuable trade assets. Keeping the same rotation will equal one thing and that is in wild card contention at best. I wouldn't label Garza as a surplus value. He is an aging MLB starter waiting for the wheels to fall off.
  5. The Brewers don't need more two, three and four pitchers; they need a legitimate number one. Garza will be 34. Take his five million and put it towards an anchor in the rotation (possibly, Darvish). The free agent class is not greatvand I'd speculate Nelson, Anderson, Davies, Woodruff, Suter, Guerra, Hader, and Burnes will all have a shot at the rotation in 2018. Adding a frontline starter with one of the previously mentioned being our two through five is a lot better than keeping everything the same with Garza in the mix. Their might even be enough to deal depth although Burnes, Hader, Nelson, Anderson and Woodruff are untouchable in my opinion. Find the number one in a trade.
  6. I strongly dislike Thames leading off; give Arcia a shot at it.
  7. Good pitchers survive without their best stuff. He did not have his best fastball and was over throwing but his debut was still very good. What I like is that none of their starters are similar.
  8. Phillips 2B Braun LF Shaw 3B Aguilar/Thames 1B Santana RF Piña/Vogt/Bandy C Broxton/Perez/Phillips/Brinson CF Arcia SS Pitcher When Perez plays fill him in the subbed player spot. Villar would need to be part of the deal to free up the roster spot. Sogard can still be a sub middle infielder. That line up is scary good! By the time Phillips ages out, Dubon, Hiura or Diaz will be knocking on the door.
  9. Phillips is not the player he used to be but would definitely upgrade 2B and could have some pop off the bench on days he doesn't start. He could also lead off. Villar + Wilkerson for Phillips
  10. Garza is as good as gone after the season. He is handled with kid gloves because the Brewers don't want an issue with him going g forward (remember him walking away from the team rather than accepting a pen role). If he struggles at all, he will start sparingly after rosters expand. He is pitching for a 2018 contract but that contract will be in Minnesota or Cincinnati. I am hoping he can be lights out for five innings thru the end of the season but guess another DL stint is on the horizon.
  11. Brinson and Phillips should have been put into a platoon thru the end of the Minnesota games where one could play LF while Braun DHs. I am tired of Broxton. His two hot streak a season are not enough to justify his offensive shortcomings. If the Brewers do not think Phillips and Broxton are ready, they should have acquired a CF at the deadline. Phillips should have gotten a better look when he seemed to be adjusting to MLB.
  12. Barnes can go to AAA and work on a secondary pitch any day now.
  13. Just say no! Hoping they are postering for a better deal. If a #3 or #4 is all Milwaukee can get, stay put (Ortiz, Burnes, Wilkerson, Woodruff).
  14. Get Hader ready now! Guerra needs to get his velocity back and he can do it in AAA. I have a feeling the second time through the order is going to be ugly.
  15. They will have a celebration regarding Perez playing all nine positions in twenty years when there is nothing else to celebrate between now and then.
  16. DFA Peralta, send Blazek down, bring up Wang, Ramirez or Derby for a few days, option Wang, Ramirez or Derby ang give Burnes or Wilkerson a start.
  17. DFA Peralta, send Blazek down, bring up Wang, Ramirez or Derby for a few days, option Wang, Ramirez or Derby ang give Burnes or Wilkerson a start.
  18. Villar, Ray and Diplan for Kinsler and Wilson? Kinsler helps bridge the gap for Dubon and Diaz. Wilson takes the pressure off of Barnes and Knebel, reducing their innings and not burning them out. Ray and Diplan are both decent B level prospects. If the Brewers are not going to acquire talent they need to put Barnes, Knebel and Hughes on the block. Adding will keep attendance high. If nothing is added and they continue to slide, enjoy 20,000 in August and less in September.
  19. Broxton and Villar to Detroit in a Wilson/Kinsler deal? Heck, throw in Peralta, too.
  20. With Broxton struggling and Braun not available, the Brewers need to adjust their batting order, recall Brinson and option Broxton. I am not expecting Sogard to repeat his first half. 1B and CF should be strict platoons. With days off Perez, Brinson and Phillips will have plenty of opportunities. Thames should never play OF again. Perez is still the super sub but the line up allows Arcia and Santana opportunities to be the new "face." Arcia SS Braun/Perez LF Santana RF Shaw 3B Aguilar/Thames 1B Piña C Sogard/Villar 2B Brinson/Phillips CF Pitcher
  21. Acquire a bunch of talented players, let them rot in minors while your CF, 2B and RP is inadequate and you blow a five game lead........ repeat.
  22. Villar: "My contract doesn't say anything about having a baseball IQ.' Counsell: Here is what I think about your contract (sound of water hitting paper).
  23. Broxton needs to be platooned. He is undisciplined and too streaky.
  24. Agreed 100% 9th: Knebel 8th: Barnes/Drake (lefties) 7th: Hader Most of the pitchera are only good for six innings maximum. Anything close in the 5th or 6th should be handedover to Hader. If he is lights out let him go two. Neshek in the 8th, bumping Barnes and Drake to the 7th, would be ideal.
