  1. The bonuses and the opt out raise the value of the low offers (except of Lucroy).
  2. Milwaukee should roll the dice and throw out a few low ball offers with big bonuses. I am sure it will anger the players association but so be it. If you want to get paid, earn it. Arietta- Two years, 40 million. Mutual option after year one. 1 million for 150 IP, 2 million for 175 IP and a 3 million dollar bonus for 200 IP. Lynn- Two years, 20 million. Player option after year one. 3 million dollar bonus for 200 IP. 3 million for an All Star appearance. Cobb- Three years, 36 million. Player option after year one. 1 million dollar bonus for 175 IP. 3 million for the All Star team. Holland- One year, 10 million. Bonuses for saves and holds. Walker- One year, 6 million. Bonuses for games started and an All Star appearance. Lucroy- Two years, 12 million. Team option after year one. Bonuses for games started and All Star appearance.
  3. Woodruff + Suter = A trashed bullpen.
  4. Jason Vargas on a minor league deal.
  5. Of the remaining free agent pitchers, I think the following all make sense for the Brewers to compete for the five spot. 1.) Lynn- Durability, durability, durability. He could pencil in the #4 spot and keeps the pen fresh for Woodruff's possible short starts. 2.) Cashner- Could be an intriguing candidate for the pen if the rotation does not work out. Would be better in the NL. 3.) Vargas- Decent starter, last chance to compete? Possible minor league deal? 4.) Tillman- Could be a bounce back player. Possible minor league deal? Through Vargas, I believe all are better options than Suter but not a healthy Guerra.
  6. Sign Cashner and head to spring training. If he wins a rotation spot so be it. He was a dominant reliever when he was young and his velocity is still very good early in games. He could be the 8th inning right paired with Hader. I have way more confidence in Cashner than Woodruff, Suter or Guerra. Two years, 12 million?
  7. SP: Anderson, Chacin, Davies, Guerra, Woodruff RP: Suter, Williams, Barnes, Logan, Jeffers, Hader, Knebel C- Pina, Vogt 1B- Thames, Aguilar 2B- Villar 3B- Shaw SS- Arcia UT- Perez, Sogard OF- Braun, Santana, Yelich, Cain RHP Yelich .310, 25 HR Cain .285, 20 HR Braun .260, 25 HR Shaw .270, 35 HR Thames .240, 25 HR Pina .240, 12 HR Villar .235, 18 HR Arcia .250, 15 HR Pitcher LHP Yelich Cain Braun Shaw Aguilar .240, 15 HR Pina .240, 8 HR Perez .265, 10 HR Arcia Pitcher
  8. If Castro is included the group of prospects actually lessens and Villar has to be going to Miami. Yelich CF Castro 2B Braun LF Shaw 3B Santana RF Thames/Aguilar 1B Pina/Vogt C Pitcher Arcia SS
  9. Andrew Cashner, one year, 7 million. He will reinvent himself and wind up as an effective set up man.
  10. Yelich for Brinson, Phillips + or Broxton+. The Brewers would have a proven lead off hitter and CF for years to come.
  11. Hernan Perez, Jonathan Villar or Andrew Susac with Jorge Lopez or Aaron Wilkerson, that is all Milwaukee should give. Year #3 might not look to good in the Harrison deal. For 10+ million per year, go sign Walker.
  12. Salazar and Kipnis for Santana; the Brewers sign Jay Bruce to platoon with Brinson and Phillips.
  13. Subtract Gallardo or Jeffers and add Taylor Williams.
  14. There are multiple 2 thru 6 hitters but Milwaukee lacks a true lead off hitter. Any thoughts on the #1 spot in the batting order?
  15. I hate the idea of trading away Santana but the following OFers would ease the loss: 1. Jay Bruce 2. John Jay 3. Lorenzo Cain 4. Carlos Gonzalez I expect Phillips or Brinson to struggle initially. Milwaukee would need a haul for Santana and it would have to include a starting pitcher or someone to shut down the 8th inning and potentially close if Knebel struggles.
  16. A rookies first taste doesn't determine what their ceiling will be but I don't see Woodruff as one of the untouchable young players.
  17. Woodruff is a #4 starter at best. He got off the hook numerous times. Good pitchers don't get off the hook, the seldom get on the hook. Like Hader, his innings will be limited.
  18. Brewers: Realmuto and Castro Marlins: Villar, Brinson and Ortiz Castro Santana Braun Shaw Thames/Aguilar Realmuto Phillips/Broxton Pitcher Arcia
  19. Nelson and Anderson are #2's, Davies and Chacin are #3's. A rotation of #2's and #3's is not a bad thing.
  20. If you could pick one available free agent who would it be and why? Addison Reed- The bullpen would be solidified and Hader's transition to the rotation would not leave the pen weak. If Hader stays in the pen a Reed, Hader and Knebel eight and ninth would be lights out.
  21. Rotation: Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Woodruff, Guerra or Gallardo Bullpen: Suter, Hader, Barnes, Jeffers, Williams, Barnes, Logan, Knebel Piggyback Guerra/Gallardo and Woodruff with Suter and Hader until the rotation plays out. Suddenly, I kind of like it and there are options. If Chacin pitches to his ability and Guerra is healthy, I will be happy I renewed my ticket package. Chacin is a guy I've always liked and wish they acquired him at the deadline last season. I believe he may have been the one game out difference.
  22. Brewers: Yelich, Realmuto, Barraclough Marlins: Phillips, Woodruff, Ray, Supak, Peralta, Seriously, that is an incredible haul for Milwaukee.
  23. Realmuto may be one of the names that brings Brinson to the trading block. If not, he should be.
  24. I think Barnes is going to be a bull pen stud this season. He has the stuff and just needs to put it together.
