  1. I'm willing to be nobody in baseball is behind in the count more often than Yuni.
  2. Gamel not McGehee. Ha. I'm so used to McGehee not being able to move, said it by accident.
  3. The one between Betancourt and McGehee, neither moved. The one to the right side would have been a single anywhere, but it was not hard hit. Only two hard hit were Phillips and Votto.
  4. I like Rillo, but I wish he would speak up. He speaks so softly that it's difficult to hear. A couple years ago when he was on the post-game show, "Rillo's Rants" were hilarious. Nicest ranting ever.
  5. Greinke's homer pitch to Votto was bad, but other than that he wasn't bad. Two routine ground balls make it through our stationary defense.
  6. Overlooking that one statement, the thing I like about this is it tries to illustrate just how bad the Brewers' defense is--something so many either don't quite realize or overlook completely. It's a TERRIBLE defense. Betancourt and McGehee could be replaced by better fielders right now.
  7. For Greinke to pitch the same way all season and not have a sub-3 ERA would be incredibly unlucky. He has the widest gap between xFIP and ERA in history... And is just about doubling second place! Who knows what contributes to it. The article on the main forum from Grantland shows that defense is likely some factor, although he has been hit hard at times. All I'm saying is a gap that wide is beyond bizarre and extremely, extremely unlikely to continue.
  8. Exactly. People are so happy he doesn't have a poor choice for "Eighth Inning Guy" in there that they're willing to overlook the fact that having anyone as EIG is stupid. Braddock's numbers against lefties are outstanding in both the majors and the minors. He's the obvious choice against those Reds sluggers.
  9. It hasn't gotten a ton of attention because the Brewers still won last night, but Roenicke's excuse for using Hawkins over Braddock in the eighth is dumbfounding. --- "It was a matchup for 'Hawk,'?" manager Ron Roenicke said. "If we would have done it a little different, it probably would have been (lefty Zach) Braddock." Hawkins entered the game as something of an anomaly, limiting lefties to a .162 average --- I don't know whether to be encouraged to know that Roenicke actually does use splits, or discouraged because he misreads them so terribly. Actually, it's definitely the second one. Apparently 38 appearances means everything to Ron, because that's how many lefties have against Hawkins this year. Meanwhile, looking at 17 seasons and 2,591 PAs, lefties have an .809 OPS against Hawkins. Hey, it's almost like this season's numbers are a statistical anomaly! I can't actually believe it's the second time already this season that he sent up the decidedly wrong reliever to face Votto late in a close game.
  10. Actually they could make a substantial difference just by staying within the organization. Boggs over Kotsay and especially Green over McGehee would be substantial improvements. Those players are both below replacement level. McGehee has been almost a win below replacement already because he's been bad all around. I don't understand the notion that anything they do may not have a large impact, so it isn't worth doing anything. McGehee, Kotsay, and Betancourt are costing the team games and upgrades aren't difficult to find.
  11. They just added that exact player a couple days ago and RRR chose not to use him.
  12. Keep hitting Loe. I hope he gives up five earned this inning. Anything to convince Roenicke he isn't good and can't face lefties.
  13. I've never seen a first baseman just miss a throw. I've seen Fielder do it about five times in his career.
  14. Micah Owings is still getting mileage out of being a good hitting pitcher I see.
  15. Yeah McCutchen was screwed royally. He would have been a good player to have for the NL when you consider how awful the starting outfield is defensively.
  16. Brian Wilson over Axford is a sham. And you know Bochy will use him as closer too. Can't wait to watch him walk batters and blow a save.
  17. Cameron isn't the same guy, and there's no need for the current version of him. The Brewers have four outfielders better than Kotsay in AAA.
  18. They've out-hit them, but they aren't being patient. Meanwhile the Yankees draw walks left and right. That's the difference between these offenses.
  19. Cano has loafed to first a couple times tonight.
  20. I hope the Brewers hold them. I desperately want to see Yuni and McGehee attempt to hit Rivera.
  21. Robertson against Hart is a pretty big mismatch.
