  1. Both. Split screen. If I didn't have split screen, I would move a second TV into the living room. Both too important to miss.
  2. Rickie Weeks. You will not find a coach at any level of organized baseball that would instruct you to try to field a ball the way he did last night. That is why it is hard to remain optimistic about him becoming significantly better on defense. I'm sure the fundamentals of playing 2B have been drilled into him since the moment he signed his first contract, but when it counts he reverts back to that crap. Move your feet! Get in front of the ball! Offense. I don't know what to say, other than please start clicking soon, or this is going to be a long month. Please turn things around to make this the enjoyable month that all Brewer fans deserve!
  3. I work in HR (though not in recruiting). Unless the job ad says something like "no phone calls please" there should be no problem with you placing a call to the recruiter you worked with before. If that recruiter is the one assigned to this opening you are actually making their job easier by making it known how interested you are. If they are not assigned to the opening, then it will be up to them whether they want to connect with the assigned recruiter. Either way, it really can't hurt.
  4. Just a heads up that it looks like the Badger game will be on the regular BTN channel but that the Ohio St.-Youngstown St. game will be on the HD channel (on Charter at least). I need to record the game and just assumed that what is on the regular channel would be on the HD channel (since that is the case for all the other HD channels) and luckily noticed the team names in the program guide.
  5. I am able to get it on one of my TVs without the digital box on channel 74 in Point.
  6. Lester Freamon - The Wire Darnell Turner aka Crabman - My Name is Earl Berta - Two and a Half Men
  7. BA with an interesting sequence yesterday. With Hart up: "Hart is a tough guy to double up" and he promptly grounds into a DP. With Cameron up: "Cameron can give the Brewers the lead with a home run" and he jacks one. I totally believe in the jinx, so I was glad he said what he did when Cameron was up to "make up" for his jinx with Hart.
  8. I just foolishly picked at a scab on my knee from sliding in softball last week, and now my knee is bleeding everywhere.
  9. I now hate WE Energies. What a horribly timed and poorly placed ad.
  10. After 118 games, the Brewers and the defending World Series champs have identical records.
  11. Parra is essentially a rookie, and he has to learn the ropes. That's why he gets a little more slack than Prince in my mind. Maybe he has done this before and Price had enough, we don't know. The Baseball Tonight guys made good points that it really should have been the pitching coach or one of the other starters who should have pulled Parra aside and let him know that is the wrong way to handle it.
  12. The thing that struck me while watching the video is how Prince just couldn't control himself. Seeing TH's most recent quote, Prince just got done yelling at Manny. We don't know if Manny said anything back. Then they walk together halfway across the dugout. Was Prince waiting for Manny to say something back? You can see the whole time they are walking, Manny doesn't open his mouth. Manny lets out his frustration by doing something with his jacket. I don't know what his intentions were, but I am POSITIVE they were not to hit Price with it. But Prince was right there, probably waiting for something to set him off. A jacket to the face, a comment from Parra, anything. He got it, and he went off. As others have said, it wasn't a quick shove, he truly went after Manny. Others have called it a shoving match, which is completely untrue. Manny did no shoving, and Prince did more than just shoving. The big unknown in my mind is, what would Prince have done if there weren't 3-4 guys there to hold him back? Does anyone think that he just would have maybe shoved him one more time and kept yelling at him? Everyone can see how fired up he was, and I think the outcome would have been much worse if the other players didn't step in and put a stop to it. I don't know how Price could allow himself to get that out of control.
  13. I have only been to Sonic once, and it was not good. We only had ice cream, and it literally tasted like air, with a little candy mixed in. Didn't hold a candle to the DQ Blizzard or Culver's concrete shakes. Hey BadgerBen, what is Demetrius up to these days?
  14. I actually thought it would have been disrespectful to my wife to ask permission. She is a feminist in nearly every sense, and I thought she would be quite offended if I had done that. (It turns out she thought I should have, only because she thought it may have been important to her dad, so swing and a miss on that one.) The second reason I didn't ask is I didn't think I owed it to them to ask permission, rather I owed it to them to take care of their daughter and treat her the way parents would want their daughter to be treated. I thought from a parents' perspective that is all they should care about. I'm sure there have been many men who have asked and been granted permission and then turned around and were crappy husbands. The final reason I didn't ask is because it would have felt odd if her parents knew she was getting engaged before she did.
  15. Don't forget about Pods' significant other when deciding whether you should feel badly for him. Not many major leaguers manage to "out-kick their coverage."
  16. My confession is that I was very disappointed in the crowd Saturday night. I do not believe that a crowd can single-handedly swing a game's momentum, but throwing a little support behind your team during a tight game can only help. A 1-1 pitch to the leadoff batter during the 8th inning of a tie game is just as important as when there are two strikes and two outs (which apparently is the only time most think it is acceptable to stand and cheer). I have often heard Miller Park's atmosphere described as "electric" during certain games but it sure didn't feel that way Saturday. I have never been a fan of the sausage race. During the lean years I understood that it was necessary since the team had to rely on more than just the product on the field to fill the seats. Only Fielder's walkoff (and the scoreboard prompts to make noise between innings) drew a comparable level of excitement and volume Saturday night, which doesn't seem like a good thing in a tight game while in a battle for the division/wildcard lead. I will be happy if they make the playoffs and go no further than the opening round. Since I became a fan my only wish was to experience the excitement and suspense of post-season play. That is why yesterday felt like such a big day. No other single move that I remember had more of a chance of helping to satisfy that wish.
  17. Is it time to switch Branyan and Fielder in the batting order? (If I was better at formatting I would have made that half blue) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (edit: made message half blue --1992)
  18. It has been bothering me that they keep saying the Brewers are winning these games "in their final at bat." The Cameron sac fly was, but the win in Washington and last night's win were certainly not in their last at bat. A visiting team can't win in their final at bat, nor can a home team do that in the 8th inning (since somone has to end the 8th with an out). I get the point, that they keep winning exciting games at/near the end in dramatic fashion, but the terminology they keep using to describe that has been bugging me.
  19. That was Weeks' fault because he needs to hit McClung in stride before he gets to the base. He appeared to flip it in the air trying to time it so the ball and McClung got to the bag at the same time, which is the last thing you want to do. You need to get the pitcher the ball early so they don't have to worry about catching the ball and stepping on the bag at the same time. That was awful.
  20. After the Yo news I had to watch the top of the 9th again to try to lift my spirits. A few seconds after Rickie got tagged out, the shot cut to Dale, and he said something like "I tried to hold him" or "I did hold him" to Braun. Any chance the NSA had a satellite over Wrigley around 4 in the afternoon that day?
  21. Does anyone know of any websites that post the box scores for all games in a given day on one page? The format I'm looking for is like how newspapers display them, rather than having to click into every one on a site like ESPN, SI, sportsline, etc. A quick search yielded nothing so I thought I would try here. Thanks!
  22. Mark me down for the Forrest Gump scene as well. One that got me was the scene at the end of Armageddon when Bruce Willis says goodbye to Liv Tyler. For books, I read "Skipping Christmas" every year, and I still can't read about Luther giving the generous gift to his rival neighbor without tearing up a little, even after so many readings. Might as well throw a song in here too. The song "The Best Day" by George Strait always got me thanks to the great relationship I have with my dad. But when I heard it about a month after my son was born, it was all over. Glad I wasn't in public that time.
  23. I don't know if they do this in the majors, but in high school we used to have the pitchers shake off the catcher a couple of times on purpose just to keep the batter guessing. That is probably a rather simplistic strategy for them to be using at the highest level, but you never know.
  24. Only took Lou two games to realize Soriano was miscast as a #2 hitter. So he moves him to.......leadoff http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
