  1. If Rodgers does indeed win, that means the Green Bay Packers had the MVP (or co-MVP in the one year it has happened) in 7 of the past 28 NFL seasons, and in 10 of the 66 seasons the NFL has given the award. I don't know how that compares to other teams, but that looks pretty impressive.
  2. When I saw the guy in the Cousins jersey I thought "wow does that look just like Cousins." And after a few seconds I was like "duh."
  3. CDC updates guidelines, now recommends masks be worn indoors by all in counties with "substantial" or "high" transmission of the virus. Sure hope the CDC COVID Data Tracker website can handle all that traffic as I'm sure everyone will be constantly checking that to see where they fall.
  4. Nothing? Is there anything that drives clicks and views more than controversy? Bingo. His takes are awful, his delivery is awful.....and he makes $12M a year.
  5. This. Adames has said he couldnt see the ball at Tropicana. He also feeds off the energy. Stearns was apparently after him for at least a year. Credit to Stearns for seeing saomething that none of us saw. Stearns found an underpeforming talent who was "surplus" in Tampa and used a strength to acquire him, IN JUNE. In May actually, which is even more impressive.
  6. Currently my Packer and Brewer fandom are relatively equal, but Brewers baseball was my first love, and after loving that team through the 90's and early 2000's, a Brewer World Series would mean so much more. So that Rodgers guy, is he going to opt out by July 2?
  7. This is a month old, and the CDC almost immediately said its own director was taking too big of a leap. https://www.businessinsider.com/cdc-vaccination-comments-director-rochelle-walensky-2021-4
  8. It was less to do with the weather - actually nothing to do with the weather - and more to do with the fact that they looked like Llama/Camels and had fur. Nothing to do with the weather? Yeah, it looked like some sort of Ram (horns) crossed with a Llama with fur (which would also indicate internal heat generation). But it lived in a region far below zero degrees with no sun - thus cold blooded animals would have no source of heat. And when it froze to death, Luke cut him open and steam came out... obviously not cold blooded. [sarcasm]Did you forget 3rd grade too? [/sarcasm] [sarcasm]Sorry, you lost all credibility when you wrote that Luke, not Han, cut open the tauntaun[/sarcasm]
  9. Anyone who has had Will Fuller V on their fantasy team is very familiar with his injury history. He has never played a full season, and if that pattern would have continued after trading for him, a lot of people would have been quite upset that we gave up a 2nd/3rd for a guy who only played a handful of games for us. And frankly even if he would have stayed healthy, I'm not convinced that the value he would have added would have been better than the longer-term value that 2nd/3rd would have delivered.
  10. What I would call you is someone who must be fortunate enough to not have had someone close to you affected by this, because if you had I can't understand how you could be where you are at on this. You made the joke about grandma dying, well my wife's family lost a grandpa this weekend. An otherwise healthy grandpa in his early 60's, who if the bars were not open, would be here today. He was, as OldSchoolSnapper put it, "getting on with life" and he and the family he left behind paid the price. Instead of saying "well the bars are open, why shouldn't there be trick-or-treating?" maybe question whether the bars should be open. And while I'm sure you and others would call me a liberal sap, left-wing nutjob, etc, I think of myself as someone who simply doesn't want to see more people die when they don't have to.
  11. Regarding businesses requiring masks, I am convinced that it isn't about wanting to avoid a confrontation, it is all about not wanting to lose business. Menard's seems to be the only one willing to say "if you won't wear a mask, we're fine with you taking your business elsewhere." Our Copps/Metro Market/Pick N Save always has a manager or assistant manager near the front of the store. It would be very easy for them to refuse the business of someone not wearing a mask, but they don't want that person to take their business to Wal-Mart, because they know Wal-Mart has no problem letting that person shop without one (Wal-Mart usually has 2-3 employees at every entrance who will let someone walk right past without saying a word about no mask).
  12. It's really hard to do, which is why it was so awesome last night when the camera followed Linsley taking his guy 10 yards down field on play where Jones was stuffed for no gain. I'm sure they thought they were following the ball carrier, but my son and I were high-fiving as he plays center now and I played it in high school and it was cool to see them highlight a great block (even though I'm sure it wasn't on purpose).
  13. While I would also prefer aggressiveness over standing there and watching the other team recover the ball, as a TE not only was he a professional pass catcher but he was also a professional blocker, and his job on that play was to block.
  14. I'm just not quite ready to move past the scuffle last night. In that link above summarizing the incident, pause the video where it shows the side view of Braun's bat hitting Molina. That is essentially what the Brewers could see from their dugout. Molina gets a low strike call, Braun takes a nice dig at him (really enjoyed that), and Molina fumes and thinks "I'm going to show him, I'll move up and reach out further to make sure I get the next call too and that will really tick you off." With all that as the backdrop plus all the history between these two teams and Molina in particular, not at all surprising that some things were said from the Brewers dugout. I also love how Shildt was "standing up for our guys" by staring into the Brewers dugout, and admitting later that he was checking on Molina but also came out of his dugout with the thought that something may have been intentional on Braun's part. Nice. So very glad all this happened in a game the Brewers won by 15, which ensured that we got the last laugh. Okay, now I'm ready to move on to today's huge doubleheader.
  15. I applaud the student for doing what was necessary to shine light on this, regardless of the consequences. It is very obvious that the school didn't care, so complaining would have made no difference (the principal said that she should have brought up her concerns with the administration instead, yes I'm sure that would have forced them to take action the same way this backlash has). The only thing that was going to force real change was to do what she did.
  16. Thanks for setting the record straight on that. It was the offering to go to bat for Kidd with ownership that I remembered, but had forgotten that it only came out because Kidd leaked it (add another red flag to the list).
  17. I've thought a bit about this too, because I have definitely received some dirty looks while wearing a mask and wondered what I would say if someone said something to me. To those people I think "I'm not wearing this to protect me, I'm wearing it to protect you. You can fall into one of three buckets: gratitude, apathy, or disdain. While I would prefer bucket #1 and can at least understand bucket #2, how can you be so out-of-touch as to end up in bucket #3?"
  18. I remember Giannis being pretty outspoken about not wanting Kidd to get fired when Kidd got fired, but yes you would think now that he has been around Bud and Bud's system he would have no interest in going back to Kidd. It is baffling that Kidd continues to stay in consideration for these jobs with all his red flags (domestic violence, DWI, orchestrating his exit from the Nets, not being able to "unlock" Giannis, etc).
  19. Ugh, can someone who is on Twitter let Matt Dollinger at The Ringer in on this "secret?" They put up an article today about the 1998 draft and as you can probably guess, tons about Dirk and "what if" for the Bucks, including this gem: "Would Milwaukee have had the same extended success Dallas experienced if Dirk had posted up there for 21 seasons? Would they have won a title? And what would Giannis and Dirk have looked like on the floor together for their overlapping seasons? These are likely the questions that have kept Bucks fans up at night for the past two-plus decades." Not those of us who actually know NBA history and aren't just looking at transaction logs. I am a fan of Simmons and The Ringer but this is just ridiculous.
  20. How are Brewer and Bucks games with YouTube TV? I like to record and then try to get through Bucks games in about an hour and a Brewer game in maybe 90 minutes. How user-friendly is the fast-forward functionality with the DVR?
  21. "Come enjoy the good times, it's the only place for you." To all the central WI residents who listen to the Brewers on WSAU and have missed having that stuck in your head over the off-season, you're welcome
  22. Just noticed this so thought I'd add some more general tips. If it is your first time, you're going to want to walk the strip (and you should), however you should not try to walk it all at once, especially if it is hot. Split it up, and maybe head down one side and then take an uber/lyft back. There is also a bus that runs the whole strip called The Deuce that I think is $1 per ride. Our first trip we were so excited to see everything that we pushed way too hard on that first walk and wore ourselves out right away. There are several Walgreens and CVS along the strip, so easy to stock up on water/beer/snacks for less than what you'd pay in your hotel. Some will say you have to go downtown (i.e. Fremont Street). I have been there twice and I just prefer the strip. The people that like it enjoy how the casinos are close together, the gambling odds seem better, and the food is cheaper. I realize my sample size is small, but I have not experienced good luck gambling there and maybe we chose more expensive food options but they were not any cheaper. And when I'm gambling I prefer to stick to one spot rather than roaming. If you like table games, it is becoming harder to find $5 tables on the strip. You can sometimes find $5 tables in the morning at places like the Linq and Excalibur. On a weeknight Casino Royale had the only $5 craps table I could find. If your trip is a ways off, play the MyVegas game on Facebook. You collect chips and play the game to acquire "LPs" which can be redeemed for free stuff. The key is to make sure you are going on every day to collect your chips. You can buy chips but you don't have to. If you collect enough LPs you can get free tickets to Cirq shows like Love, Ka and Zumanity (I think they may have now added something like a $15 fee so maybe not completely free, but still way better than regular price), or dining credit for certain restaurants. Read the terms and conditions before redeeming, for some you have to be staying at an MGM property to redeem the reward. The game also has a mobile app so you can play both on Facebook and on the app and your LPs get banked together.
  23. Agree 100% with this. One thing to note in case you or your wife care about this is that it is not set in a big auditorium with comfy seats like some of the other shows. It is in a tent (to keep with the circus theme) and you sit in small wooden chairs, and in some areas there might not be a lot of space between you and the person next to you. We also enjoy comedy shows/clubs when there. Carrot Top and Penn & Teller were worth doing once, and we have been to Brad Garrett's a few times (he is not always there; the tickets are cheaper when he isn't but it is a better show when he is because he is the host and does some of his routine). I enjoy watching games in the sportsbook when there are a lot of them going on because you can watch so many at once (when I had Redzone I used to love it when they would split the screen to show a bunch of the games). I find it a lot of fun to follow a bunch of games on big screens. You didn't mention food but I'll throw this out there as well. We have done most of the big buffets on the strip (Caesars, Mirage, Wynn, Bellagio, MGM) and they all have their pluses and minuses, but on our most recent trip we tried the Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan and thought it was better than all the others. As for tickets, we always use Tix 4 Tonite, which has locations all over the strip. The pro is that you usually get a pretty good deal, the cons are you don't know your plans until the day of (sometimes you can get them one day ahead of time though) and you have to pick up your tickets from the show's box office by a certain time. For example, if a show starts at 8 you might have to pick up your tickets from their box office by 6. Not a big deal if you planned to be in that area for dinner before the show, but it can sometimes be a bit of a pain.
  24. This has been bugging me while reading for days about how great Cook and the Vikings running game were on Sunday. On one of Cook's TDs, Thielen got away with an obvious hold. I saw a graphic somewhere, I think on the Ringer, about how great that play design was. It represented all the players on the field with circles, and as Cook's circle passed Thielen and the defender to the outside, the defender's circle was outside of Thielen's circle like he was just watching Cook run by him (which of course he wasn't, but couldn't attempt a tackle since he was being held by Thielen). Unfortunately as the narrative builds that a team is a great running team, I think they tend to get the benefit of the doubt a bit more on stuff like that (teams were always whining about the 1990's Badger teams getting away with a ton of holding). Anyway, the ILBs better come to play on Sunday.
  25. At the end of the Saints-Texans game, the WR makes the catch and hits the ground with two seconds left, and the DB touches him down. If the DB hadn't touched him, would the Saints have been able to call the timeout? I can't remember a situation where a team tries to call a timeout while the play is still live, but not sure if the ref would have considered the play live since the WR kind of gave himself up by hitting the ground right away. Just curious about what would have happened if the DB had not "tackled" him right away.
