  1. Let's keep rolling. 5 wins to go, plus Cubs just gotta steal one this weekend, and we're headed to Game 163! It's meant to be!
  2. Hoping they make a mistake here by not bringing in Goldschmidt yet.
  3. Hoping they make a mistake here by not bringing in Goldschmidt yet.
  4. So G163 is really a 2nd wild card game for us. If we win, we get to play Atlanta in Atlanta. If we lose and beat the Nats, we get to play LA in LA. Not like last year where winning G163 meant home field advantage throughout the playoffs and getting to play the Rockies (who I think I heard last year referred to as the worst team to make the playoffs in the wildcard game era) in the NLDS. I'd still rather have two bites at the apple than one though. As was discussed last year though, at what point would you abandon hope in G163 if you're losing (say the Cards took an early 3-0 lead) and save your best for the next day?
  5. Jackson seems like a lock for the postseason roster at this point unless he has a terrible final week. He seems like the kinda guy you bring in early in the WC game if you really need a K against a righty. With all the bullpen options for next year though, his options are going to work against him making the team out of ST. But if he puts on a show in the playoffs, that certainly won't hurt his chances. Super glad things are working out, we need a JJ in the bullpen at all times.
  6. That MLB record is crazy, apparently 7 hits would be quite the achievement against Gray tonight. I still like our chances.
  7. Has there been any hint as to what Peralta is doing differently to explain this increased velo? I know you get some extra oomph in the bullpen, but he was like 88-95 as a starter, usually sitting like 90-92. Kid just threw 98 on strike 3 there. Wonder what his "perceived velocity" is or whatever they call it when they factor in his extension.
  8. It was a double.....sort of.....probably should've been a single and an error on Spangenberg.
  9. They did the all lefties thing yesterday so guessing it's the all righties thing today 1. Cain CF 2. Grandal 1B 3. Hiura 2B 4. Moustakas 3B 5. Braun LF 6. Pina C 7. Gamel RF 8. Arcia SS Edit: Forgot about Pina, probably want to give Grandal a rest behind the plate.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong or if this has been mentioned before, but despite not being in the playoffs as of today, the Brewers control their own fate, right? If the Brewers win out, there's no way that the Cards/Cubs/Nats can all win enough games to stay in front of us.
  11. With Devin Williams being recalled today, there will be no more burned options in 2019. The day after the regular season ends, the first post of this thread will be reset for the 2020 season. Players entering 2020 with no options remaining (these players must make the team out of spring training or be DFA'd/traded): - Ray Black - Jake Faria - Junior Guerra - Adrian Houser - Taylor Williams - Manny Pina - Tyler Austin - Hernan Perez - Tyler Saladino - Cory Spangenberg Other players of note with options remaining but could reject a Minor League assignment: Chase Anderson, Jimmy Nelson
  12. Was out of town this weekend and just got around to updating this thread. Tyler Austin added to 40-man, he has 0 options remaining for next season. All options that were still in the air for 2019 have been preserved for 2020 via September callups.

  14. Bickford since July 9th: 8 G 14.0 IP 19 K 5 BB 0 R .114/.220/.114 against BABIP is .200, and he's been extremely fly ball heavy this year (76% FB this year), but he might have turned a corner? Still a really small sample size, it would be great to hear a scouting report to really believe this change, but if he's gained back the velo he lost around the time we acquired him, he could turn into a nice bullpen guy in the future. He just turned 24, which is still a bit old for high A but not too old to count him out completely. A 40-man spot seems highly unlikely, but if someone takes a flier on him in the Rule 5, it'd be interesting to see how he performs. I hope he sticks with us and does well at AA next year.
  15. Update: Devin Williams' contract has been selected from AAA. He starts his Major League career with 3 shiny new option years.
  16. I suppose this could be taken as jinxing but I've been impressed all year how the Brewers have been able to neutralize Josh Bell, a guy who has otherwise had a really impressive season: Bell vs Brewers in 2019: .120/.237/.220, 19 K in 59 PA, tOPS+ of 3!!! Granted he has a .161 BABIP against us too, but I don't think this is a fluke. Brewers seem to know how to pitch him. Given the number of guys who seem to just annihilate Brewers pitching, it's nice to see us doing a good job against at least one great hitter.
  17. Update: Corbin Burnes has burned his 1st option. He will enter 2020 with 2 option years remaining. Jay Jackson's option clock has restarted. He will burn his 1st option after 8/20/19.
  18. I'll guess: 1. Cain CF 2. Yelich RF 3. Moustakas SS 4. Grandal C 5. Thames 1B 6. Shaw 3B 7. Hiura 2B 8. Houser P 9. Grisham LF
  19. In addition, there are several players without options remaining, who could be kept through ST but could also be DFA'd in the offseason to make room for Rule 5 picks or other new acquisitions: Taylor Williams Ray Black Jake Faria Jimmy Nelson (options remaining but 5 years service time) Burch Smith Tyler Saladino Plus there's Aaron Wilkerson, who will have an option remaining but is about as DFA'able as it gets. Yeah, I know, two of these guys haven't even thrown a pitch yet since acquiring them, they'll probably keep them through at least ST even if they're bad this year. But putting them here for the complete list of un-optionable guys in 2020.
