  1. You might want to hold off on dumping Barnes. He's had two bat outings, but put up zero's in his other 10 or so appearances. Given who's still in the pen, I don't think we need to be in a hurry to boot him. Barnes can stick around til after Wilson gone. Barnes is a good pitcher in a mop up role. Barnes is terrible in ANYTHING CLOSE TO HIGH LEVERAGE. His scoreless appearances have been in mop up low lev. Appearances, the 2 times CC has HAD to pitch him in high lev. he failed. This the perfect example of statistics lying. Statistics are just proof of what happened. They don't lie. People can twist them to fit their narrative, but they are always true. He's pitched in one high leverage outing this year. He didn't give up anything. Don't just say "facts lie" which is basically what you're saying.
  2. I'm trying not to rag on the officiating, because the Bucks are getting to the line, but there is a lot of uncalled hard contact on Giannis this game that's leading into why Horford + have been so effective. FT differential or not, they're allowing guys to beat up in Giannis. That's a wrap. Boston now has home field baring a very-very unlikely comeback right here.
  3. It also doesn't help that Boston can basically mug Giannis down low without getting the calls that normal super stars get. Or that Lopez can go up and get all ball and get called for a foul.
  4. Sure doesn't look like either of these in particular is true. And Brown shot nearly 40 pct from 3 last year. Dude nobody reasonable thought the Bucks would sweep this series. Games like this happen. I'm not gonna draw broad conclusions from game one. I think this is one of the tougher matchups but this is gonna be a competitive series. Of course. That's pretty much exactly what I said and was told that it was because of Boston's history and not their personnel right now or was told how the young guys that nearly led Boston to the NBA finals last year really aren't good just because.
  5. For sure. A whole quarter left. But they're gonna have to get to the hoop. I don't see them making as many tough and or long 3's in the 4th quarter.
  6. Horford is a good player, but letting him just shut down your all-world superstar like this ?(just like the C's had it drawn up) seems like the Bucks had no idea this was what the Celtics were ABSOLUTELY GOING TO TRY TO DO. This lead isn't insurmountable, but it has that feel, like the Bucks just aren't in this game right now. It isn't JUST Horford. He's making the plays on the ball, but it's the fact that Giannis has nowhere to go when he gets down there, so instead of being able to go around Horford, he's trying to go straight up over him. And that's not working. The Bucks will look better and it's just one game, but it's baffling to me why people couldn't see how talented Boston was, how deep they were and what a bad matchup they were for the Bucks with several bigs to throw at Giannis, Lopez basically being eliminated.
  7. Sure doesn't look like either of these in particular is true. And Brown shot nearly 40 pct from 3 last year.
  8. And they also had hitting tough, deep 3's that's likely not sustainable, that is what got them back into the game.
  9. Yeah, a big part of that is the Celtics having a great coach also, and a lot of big bodies who are also good defensive players as I said in my first post before people jumped on me for saying this series presented a lot of tough matchup's for the Bucks. You actually watch guys like Tatum and Brown and you can see what they bring to the game. I expect Giannis to be better and hopefully the Bucks will wear the Celts down, but the Bucks are not likely to be able to keep up this shooting from 3, especially given some of the shots they've been taking.
  10. Hirura up to .338 with an OPS over 1.100 now. Still just 3 BB's, but OBP becomes less of a concern when you're hitting .338 with power.
  11. Or maybe he pitches like Chris Sale and we would have had a dominant ace. I don't know. I do know you don't want all of your best young arms to become relievers.
  12. You might want to hold off on dumping Barnes. He's had two bat outings, but put up zero's in his other 10 or so appearances. Given who's still in the pen, I don't think we need to be in a hurry to boot him.
  13. Well, at least I hope I can stop seeing that damn list someone keeps posting where they have Kimbrel, Hader, Knebel and Jeffress to show that Claudio is in the same category as they are as a pitcher. Advanced metrics are great. Sometimes they lie.
  14. You really think that's what the problem was?
  15. deGrom sucked in his two starts prior to last night with the "elbow barking" and Syndergaard outside of one start has sucked all year. That's very often a harbinger of things to come. Velocity is still there, command starts to slip and then TJ surgery comes. Of course it's looked like that was coming a half dozen or so times with Justin Verlander in his career, so maybe not.
  16. It's just ridiculous. I've never seen a regular who's this bad. It's close to watching little league where the kid has to constantly turn around and run to get the ball.
  17. Really? 1000 innings? Why bother doing anything then. Season's over. We're only 14-12 at the end of our toughest month and we've struggled with our starters. Definitely don't sign a guy like Kimbrel because you can't be a difference maker unless you throw 1000 innings. An obviously we won't get any improvement from our younger pitchers.
  18. I have nothing against Davies, but he's if he was available for half a season of Parra, I'm sure we could have acquired him for someone else. Also, trying to play out how things would have happened is a fools errand. There's no reason the Brewers would have passed on the chance to trade for Yelich or sign Cain because they had Haniger. Yelich's natural position is left. Cain's is CF. Haniger is RF. I don't see how this trade ultimately benefited us all that much. We did get a serviceable starting pitcher, but Banda turned into a really good looking left handed starting pitching prospect...not that I'll pretend I expected that, but Haniger has put up over 9 WAR the previous two seasons. An OF of Yelich/Cain/Haniger would be extremely dangerous. And maybe then when we were close to moving Braun to the Dodgers, we'd have pulled the trigger. Maybe we trade Haniger to the Dodgers for Walker Buehler. Nobody has any idea what happens after the trade, but none of that changes that it was a bad trade when it happened. Trading Turang for a corner OF who with a .700 OPS wouldn't make sense just because we made some really good trades in the future, would it?
  19. I hated that trade when it happened and even called in and argued with Bill Michaels(the big unit) about it who touted it as a massive defensive upgrade over Logan Schafer(he was not in any way an upgrade). But moreover, I followed prospects more closely then and was a fan of Haniger. I didn't think much of Banda in particular and I certainly didn't expect Haniger to become a stud, I just thought it was a pointless trade. It looks so much worse in hindsight. Imagine our OF right now with Haniger in RF and Banda in our farm system. No Davies, but we could all live with that. That said, bad trades happen. Just ask the Marlins. Edit-For the record, I was a huge Clint Coulter fan and went to quite a few Appleton games just to watch him play....so not pretending to be some clairvoyant.[/quote Except for his injury riddled 2018, Davies has been a reliable middle of the rotation starter (and the ace so far in 2019). plus do you really think they'd have traded for Yelich if Haniger was here? Pointless? The Brewers were in 1st place when they traded away Haniger. They needed to upgrade the offense. Unfortunately, their core players all slumped down the stretch that year. Yes, pointless. Adding a 4th OF'er that season for a very good prospect was a pointless trade.
  20. DeGrom hasn't been DeGrom for a while. He has given up 14 runs in his last 11 innings. It's those type of outings that often precede a TJ surgery. Not to say if you have poor outings, you are headed for TJ, but guys who have TJ or just an elbow issue usually start with struggles like these. Hopefully not the case, but if it is, at least DeGrom got paid by the Mets before hand.
  21. I wish they'd stop talking about how he didn't have the same production that Wincovich or whoever had. They were lining one guy up at DT.. And then another guy I liked, Jaylon Ferguson.
  22. I probably wouldn't have listed G as they're generally easy enough to find, and thrown in CB. But they got 2 established pass rushers, they shot for the Stars in a Clowney like talent and then signed a really solid, smart safety(just don't compare him to Burnett) and a guy who has a scouting report that you could swap out for Earl Thomas' when he was entering the draft. The ONLY things they haven't done that I'd have liked is picked up a good slot WR'er and another long corner. I almost kinda like all the negative grades on the Packers draft. Last year the Browns were bashed for selecting Mayfield 1st overall with some experts letting us know that he didn't have a 1st round grade for many teams. So these reactionary drafts are usually not worth a whole lot. Still...would have preferred Justin Layne there at CB over a one dimensional TE who isn't a GREAT athlete....but maybe he'll end up being a stud.
  23. It'd be nice to get Ridley's brother here or a guy like Layne out of Michigan St. We need a smooth route runner and we still need another good, press corner.
  24. Or maybe, just maybe, their board is different than yours. Most of our opinions are formed by mock drafts and combine times. Without watching these guys it's impossible to know how good they are. I certainly didn't think they'd take the 2nd best C/G prospect left on the board with all the skill players, but...they did.
  25. Or ... they don't like Irv Smith. Right. Maybe they want TE's who are 6'5 or so and Irv was just a bit too short. It's a fools errand to try and guess how many spots away he was on their board. We have absolutely no idea.
