Barnes gets the job done and picks up the save. Two well pitched games from the starters the past couple of games. Now what to do with Drake.
-
The bullpen is imploding once again. Drake doesn't get the job done. No confidence in him. CC needs to make a decision.
-
I don't like the radio guy when Uecker takes a break. Today he said "this is trouble" when the Crew got a hit. It's not "trouble" when they get a hit is it! There are other things that irk me about him. I am so glad that Uecker is still calling games.
-
Yay! Back in first place. It makes all the difference in the world to have a quality start and the hitters getting the job done. Oh, and the Cubs beaten by the Dodgers too. I'll take it.
-
Great starting pitching today. Anderson pitched well and only gave up one hit. Now let's see if the Cubs lose tonight.
-
Feliz has had plenty of opportunities to right himself. Sometimes free agents are not worth the contract. He's one of them.
-
Thank you Arcia. Thank you Anderson. In spite of Feliz the losing streak is over. I hate when free agents don't work out.
-
Agreed. He's got nothing. Get rid of him. No more chances.
-
Get Feliz out of there! Release him. Bad signing. Now he's in danger of screwing up this game after Chase pitched his heart out.
-
I have no confidence in Feliz. I hope he proves me wrong.
-
Chase with the standing O from the fans well deserved. Now Scahill getting it done.
-
Too bad Anderson had that high pitch count in the first. Otherwise he might have been able to pitch a complete game.
-
10 strikeouts and Anderson is dealing. It's so nice to have a starter with such command and past the fifth inning. Bandy clutch. This team has such a great catching duo.
-
Let's hope the DBacks ace has a bad day. Miller Park needs to have some home run power from the Crew. No more first place but I don't want to see last place either. Get going guys!

What could Braun bring from anyone? (2017 version)
rcc replied to pete's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
No to Sandoval. Boston signed him to a big contract and he has failed to stay in shape and can't field his position. He's on the DL right now and taking his time recuperating. He can't hit anymore either. His manager makes excuses for him and CC doesn't seem like the babysitter type. Keep Braun. Third base isn't a need anyway. Shaw is doing well and Perez is also doing well when needed. Braun can't stay off the DL either but at least he can field his position and can still hit. -
First place was fun while it lasted but the Cubs are now hitting their stride. The starting pitching just isn't there. This team is fun to watch offensively and defensively has its moments.
-
If the starters would get to the 7th inning then this bullpen wouldn't be so overworked. Granted the bullpen isn't the best in the league but they are not terrible either. Knebel for one is outstanding right now.

Is it possible that we could be buyers at the deadline?
rcc replied to Madhawk23's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I think Feliz is a bad pickup. But thankfully he's only got a 1 year contract then he's gone. Knebel as closer is a much better idea. Stearns is a good GM and could be the next Epstein and bring a championship to Milwaukee. Homegrown stars are better than high priced free agents with multi-year contracts. Getting an ace like Lester and Arietta should be the only reason to give the big money. Position players never really work out with $200 million contracts. -
Shaw got his ninth homer with a man on. I'm voting for him, Bandy, Thames and Braun for the All Star Game. No pitchers will make it but one of the above deserve to. Hughes didn't impress today. They still would have lost if he hadn't imploded but still.
-
Swing and a miss. But it is Arrieta after all. An ace who has the stuff to get out of trouble. With this team and their hitting it's not over till it over.
-
Shaw with his hitting streak intact against the lefty. Now it's raining and I hope they can get this game in when and if they suspend it because of the rain and gusty wind.
-
Sogard the offensive star of the game once again. I don't think he wants to see Colorado Springs ever again.
-
Knebel made it interesting but got the job done.

Time to Start Worrying About Villar?
rcc replied to Schmi755uwm.edu's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
The only thing I worry about is Villar's mental lapses on the field. He's young and impulsive sometimes but he's been better than he was earlier this year with the stupid errors and baserunning mistakes. -
I don't know about scrappiness but this team is fun to watch. Two big free agent acquisitions and the rest are young, cost-controlled guys working hard and getting it done. Thames has been great, Feliz not so much. There are many teams out there with huge payrolls and the highly paid free agents they signed are not doing what they're expected to do. This team only has one. I also think the manager is pretty good too.
