  1. A rambling fool that writes/speaks only in cliches? I think Jim Rome and dozens of others have already claimed this mantle.
  2. Specifically, my 8 year-old son, who reads at a 11-12 y/o level. He has devoured Harry Potter, Magic Treehouse, Encyclopedia Brown, 29 Flight Down, and the Hatchet series. He has a long bus ride, and knocks out titles daily. He also enjoys non-fiction science and technology stuff.
  3. The nanny state is full of inconsistent silliness. You can't fix stupid. I've pointed it out before, but it seems very curious to me the two biggest problems are childhood hunger and childhood obesity. I'm sure both exist, but to pretend they can both be huge trouble spots at the same time tells me the old media needs to do some digging.
  4. Time on the DL is a incredibly poor way to judge anything, however. I do not know if Caplinger is Christ-like or a buffoon, but the criteria is meaningless. Hoffman and Braun probably should have been DL'd instead of fighting through injuries last season, for example.
  5. I thought he was Insider as well.
  6. Any veteran is a nice minor league signing. No risk at all.
  7. I doubt if one or two people would ever have to buy tickets in advance, unless they are picky about where they sit.
  8. Good luck with that. If you consider a guy like Dan Johnson (or maybe even Jim Edmonds) to be a free talent guy, you could argue he isn't worth it now, given injury risk.
  9. Olson does suck less than Tony W, no doubt. I continue to root for Mark Stewart, who did a fine job with Badgers' basketball, though he's covering preps now.
  10. With the many levels, reminds me of MP.
  11. No Brewers' fan wants them playing more late night games. My question, why? The current set-up seems to be working fine, and has created many regional rivalries.
  12. I can't say I've ever heard of poutine, but it looks delicious., though it's just begging for bacon bits.
  13. I thought someone said Marcum would also have a bobble. Maybe I dreamed it. Casey, Yo, Zach would seem to be sure things. Counsell and Hoffman would be very nice gestures. Good idea by marketing to include the poorly attended Easter Sunday.
  14. .335/.411 career, probably about .325/.390 the last three years. Plenty solid for a PH, though a 1B/LF/RF/emergency CF does not have much appeal as anything but a PH. Certainly no issue with him getting a NRI.
  15. Since the WW2 topic is being discussed, A Street Called Darwin was written by my cousin, about my uncle, a pilot who was killed in the war when his plane crashed. You'd probably have to special order it, but it is a nice read about how regular citizens of the greatest generation quite literally saved the world. http://search.barnesandno...2871747k138683-_-Primary
  16. Game, does your sister have any idea why you cannot hear yourself doing it? I'd think you would notice it more, not less.
  17. Why does your sister think you don't hear yourself? That seems more strange than picking it up at 28.
  18. Game, I think you've said you're about 30...I've never heard of anything beginning to stutter at 25. Common? Do you know how/why it began?
  19. Dustin Nippert is a former top prospect, and has a TEX background. He and Washburn are possible minor leaque signings with June 1st opt-out dates. Plenty of position players who could fit in as well still out there as well. Felipe Lopez, Willy Aybar, Branyan, Belliard, Punto, Eckstein, Cantu, Andy LaRoche, and Inglett remain unsigned. Not much need in MIL, but no less than a half-dozen solid platoon/reserve OF's still unsigned, Gross, Nix, Church plus several others. Chris Ray and Manny Corpas are guys that throw 90+ who fit Doug's criteria also. Beimel and Durbin would be nice additions, but would require earlier opt-outs.
  20. I know they announced the new MLB minimum a couple weeks ago, but it's higher than $400K. $414K.
  21. I don't see anything Pods does better than Dickerson at this point, other than possible pics of his female companions.
  22. I have several media pros who have e-mailed me off the record comments exactly like this. He is as big a jerk as most of them know.
  23. Owings as the final bullpen guy would be a fine move.
  24. One more SP will likely be signed with an opt-out...Rogers and Rivas are probably #6/7, but most teams use 9-10 SP's, so another at Nashville would be preferred. John Maine seems like a possibility, as they've been linked before.
  25. Ueck's call of Braun's HR to beat the Cubs in game 162 is classic in every way. To have a Braun bobble with voice that works...I'd push that button every day.
