  1. I'm sorry but Oliver Drake has no business being in a one run game in the 7th inning with Torres, Barnes, Hughes, and Swarzak all available. The criticism of CC is warranted. Poor bullpen management IMO. All of those are better choices than Drake, even Torres who's been shaky at best.
  2. I would love to see what he can do as a starter but what the Brewers probably already know is that in the worst case scenario he is an absolutely filthy reliever that could be in the Andrew Miller mold. That is extremely valuable in today's game. I don't think it would hurt to give him a chance to start but I believe he is a weapon out of the bullpen. One which I cannot recall the Brewers having in recent history. You might have to go back to Fingers to find a reliever who was as potentially valuable. I might be getting way ahead of myself but it would not surprise me at all if he becomes the next Andrew Miller type. That is exciting.
  3. What has happened to Lara and Orimoloye? It wasn't long ago that these young men were the hot young prospects in the Brewer system. It appears to me that neither is getting much of a mention in the rankings. Hopefully they turn it around soon.

  5. Monty, yes well said.
  6. There are definitely different schools of thought when it comes to handling the Brewers situation and this trade deadline. I will admit that two weeks ago I would have been in the Briggs camp, but wth the past two weeks I have moved back into the more conservative camp. It makes little sense for the Brewers to try and make a big splash at this point. I believe that they will be very quiet today and most casual fans will be disappointed with that. I think it's smart and I would actually advocate to trade some smaller pieces if the Crew would receive some value in return. As for the comments about a team getting a boost from a trade and another team maybe seeing a lack of a trade and having the opposite effect, I can see that it could be possible in many cases. But is it a difference maker in this case? I don't think so. Also, I really enjoy this forum and it is where I come to first and foremost for Brewer news and discussion. But what becomes tiresome to me is when there is a difference of opinion and people simply cannot or will not admit to the possibility that there are different perspectives and also different solutions. It appears to me that some on this board really struggle with people who differ in opinions and when doing so resort to attacks on people's intelligence. The majority on this forum seem to embrace the rebuild while a smaller group wants to see a win now strategy. Does it make them poor fans or less intelligent people? No, of course not, they'd just have a different opinion. Accept it, discuss it and try seeing things from a different perspective. The snarky little comments that attack the intelligence or character of posters are unnecessary. The civility of this forum is what makes it the best Brewers forum around. Different opinions and perspectives are great for discussion but let's keep it classy.
  7. Someone's got to tell a brother how to imbed video with this interface.
  8. I want to put the gif of Kevin Bacon from Animal House saying "all is well" as he's about to be trampled. I Guess I'm not tech savvy enough to do that. But I think it would fit pretty well for the old Brew Crew right now.
  9. They migh not, but I think they should entertain the possibility that it might be in their best interests as a franchise to do so.
  10. This team is in need of more than one addition in order to compete with the big boys. In order to idiot proof the bullpen I'd argue that at least four additions would need to take place.
  11. Ok, after watching another bullpen blowup and seeing an overall collapse since the All Star break would it be out of the realm of possibility to go from buyers to sellers? If the Brewers drop the next four, which would not be surprising, they would be 4.5 out at the deadline. At which point it would make little sense to trade for players and try to contend this year. I feel Stearns would be better served to sell. But who would be a good candidate to trade and bring back valuable pieces. The bullpen pieces who you would deal won't bring much back. How sad would it be to see Swarzak dealt twice in a week? What about position players or starting pitchers? Who would have value that is not in the long term plans of the franchise? This trade deadline could go from one of the most potentially exciting deadlines in franchise history to one of the most disappointing.
  12. Really sad to waste a very good outing by Nelson. He deserved better. I know many will be critical of this but I would be selling a this point. Put anyone who isn't in the long term plans on the market. Unfortunately I don't see anyone who is at the end of their contract that would bring anything significant back.
  13. Any more trades have to be made with the future in mind. Rentals make almost no sense for this team. I'm afraid they are the team many of us thought they were. Moves like Swarzak are useless at this point.
  14. That was pretty anitclimactic.
  15. Wow, do I count 8 players in the top 30 from this past draft and international signing period? Seems like a lot. Was it that great of a draft/IS period or is it a bit of an indictment of some of the players who have slipped this season?
  16. I just don't think Gray is worth 3 of our top 10-15 guys. He's too risky. I would have given up a bunch for Quintana, as well as guys like Fulmer, DeGrom, Archer, and Stroman. But not Gray. Is he a difference maker? Is he reliable? Those others I mentioned I believe are difference makers. Gray would be a nice piece and that's all. I'm offering 1 top ten guy and maybe a couple guys in the 20's of our system. No way I give up 3 top ten guys for Sonny Gray.
  17. I agree with many of you in questioning the bullpen choices in the 6th. Is Scahill the choice in a one run game? Then you go Webb when you have Hughes or Hader? I know Knebel and Hughes have pitched back to back already but why not come with Torres or Drake in the 6th? I was driving along listening to great pinch hit home run from Phillips thinking it would be a great inning of two from Hader once they had the lead but no. It's almost like they didn't realize they were ahead and just kept with Schahill
  18. Ray, Woodruff, Diaz, Medeiros, and Harrison to the White Sox for Quintana and Robertson.
  19. There it is! Up 5.5 games! Just think how close they were to a sweep and being up 6.5. Awesome!!!!!!
