Sometimes I find it really hard to balance. It's such a long season and every team goes through their peaks and valleys, but I also think that the 2014 collapse really did a number on me. I would say we have a ton more talent than that team did, but I'll never forget the frustration of watching it slip away bit by bit. It's tough. I've been watching this team for 30 years. So even though its irrational (different players, era) I always have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind, no matter whether we're first in the NL or last. I don't know if it's just remaining guarded or what, but after so much history of failure its just hard to get rid of that feeling that it's the Brewers and they'll let you down in the end. I would guess some of the less pessemistic posters here are probably some of the younger ones who haven't seen this franchise not only lose alot, but haven't seen some of the second half swoons such as the ones in 2007, 2014 and last season. Us old guys just start to expect it. Hell, even 2008 when we won the wild card we did our best to choke that away until Yost got canned.
