  1. I'm not about to say this season is slipping away just yet because this road trip is probably the product of a team that hasn't had a day off in two and a half weeks, but I wouldn't blame people for thinking that way given their history. The schedule is really brutal after the break. If the scufffling continues then we can chalk the season up to being a product of an inflated record due to an easy schedule the first two months of the year. They're probably closer to the .500 team they've been since the beginning of June. I'm getting closer to thinking that Stearns should not be a buyer this year. If anything he should probably think about trading Thames for a couple prospects since he's really not needed anymore.
  2. Meh, they will probably hit another meaningless solo home run but that's it.
  3. Anyone hoping for a breakout performance from the offense, I'm afraid I have some bad news. Yelich LF Cain CF Shaw 1B Perez 3B Miller 2B Saladino SS Kratz C Broxton RF Anderson P
  4. Not even sure Orf even counts as a man. Other than one shining moment he's been Eric Sogard.
  5. Sometimes I find it really hard to balance. It's such a long season and every team goes through their peaks and valleys, but I also think that the 2014 collapse really did a number on me. I would say we have a ton more talent than that team did, but I'll never forget the frustration of watching it slip away bit by bit. It's tough. I've been watching this team for 30 years. So even though its irrational (different players, era) I always have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind, no matter whether we're first in the NL or last. I don't know if it's just remaining guarded or what, but after so much history of failure its just hard to get rid of that feeling that it's the Brewers and they'll let you down in the end. I would guess some of the less pessemistic posters here are probably some of the younger ones who haven't seen this franchise not only lose alot, but haven't seen some of the second half swoons such as the ones in 2007, 2014 and last season. Us old guys just start to expect it. Hell, even 2008 when we won the wild card we did our best to choke that away until Yost got canned.
  6. It's not a total copout. How would you feel if you had to work at your physically demanding job 21 days in a row, and one of those days a double shift? Not to mention jumping on a plane one or two times a week?
  7. I think we should just concede that this road trip will be a total disaster, falling behind the Cubs before the break, enjoy the break and hopefully come out firing on Friday and hope this isn't yet another second half swoon.
  8. I don't see why we just don't walk Mercer every time.
  9. Are you kidding me? We just invent ways to give away runs.
  10. I really hate Pirates catchers. First Russell Martin, now Cervelli. They just grate at me something awful.
  11. At least we won't see Thames batting leadoff for a while.
  12. Only one inning in and we are going to need a minimum of four home runs to win.
  13. Miley threw 9 yesterday. OK but those days have been few and far between lately.
  14. You know, I know this team has to be a little gassed on this 21 straight days without a day off and the All Star break can't come soon enough, but is it too much to ask to at least put up a fight?
  15. When's the last time our starting pitcher threw less than 20 pitches in the first inning? Because it ain't happening tonight either.
  16. Will Aguilar get the Barry Bonds treatment and get walked intentionally with the bases loaded?
  17. Without bothering to look, I'm sure that's true of alot of teams. September seems like a month MLB schedules a bunch of off days. Sept off Days in the Division: Brewers: 4 Cubs: 2 Cards: 3 Pirates: 3 Reds: 3 So yes, not WAY more than the others but the most in the division. I wonder how many of those were origianally scheduled off days though, as those teams probably have make up games scheduled for then, something I wish we were given the same courtesy of instead of having to play a doubleheader on Saturday to all but cap off a 22 games in 21 days stretch.
  18. Without bothering to look, I'm sure that's true of alot of teams. September seems like a month MLB schedules a bunch of off days.
  19. The team is just too tired. We desperately need the All Star break, probably more than any other team.
  20. I don't like to say game over this early, but game over.
