  1. My bad ... I thought Eric Plunk wore #39, but he was, in fact, #38. Hence the pivot to Cappy.
  2. Apparently this latest winning streak finally did him in.
  3. Was off the grid this weekend, so I missed a few numbers. Nice to see the number continue to fall every day, though! For #40, we have none other than Ben Hendrickson ... whose very own father was once a semi-regular poster here. Until Ben started faltering, which caused him to go full-on Daddy-Bear.
  4. Really good comparison. Molitor had a great season with the bat, and Listach came out of nowhere to be a star after Spiers went down early. Otherwise it was a bunch of guys who knew their roles and played them very well. Greg Vaughn led the teams with only 23 HRs, and Molitor was the only one with an OPS over .800. But everyone on that team stole bases. It was a smart, veteran team with guys like Kevin Seitzer and Scotty Fletcher complementing Yount, Molitor and Gumby. The pitching was just phenomenal. The four main starters all stayed healthy all year, but they struggled to find a solid 5th after Ron Robinson got hurt (messing with Bruce Ruffin and Dan Plesac serving as openers way before the fad took off). Then Cal Eldred showed up in the second half and was basically unhittable. The pen was also lights out with the aforementioned Henry, Holmes and Fetters, along with Jesse Orosco and James Austin, who came out of absolute nowhere to be a shutdown late-inning guy, only to wash out a year later. That pennant race with the Blue Jays was must-see TV.
  5. I get that. But for all intents and purposes, I'm focusing on the division crown.
  6. I like to choose more obscure players, but I thought this one was fitting for #45
  7. I'll maintain that the Brewers gave up on Lauer too early.
  8. With a 4-game lead (and counting) and the hottest team in the majors, I feel fully confident that it is once again appropriate to start up a new 2025 version of the Magic Number Thread. And to kick off this year's edition, we have none other that St. Jerry!
  9. Priester is 9-2 with a 3.28 ERA. That deal has paid huge dividends so far.
  10. What i'm wondering is when the OP is going to be seen for what he truly is: a troll? Being contrarian once in awhile is fine. Playing devil's advocate on occasion can even be healthy. But no one is that narcissistic not on purpose.
  11. Considering 1B has been a turnstyle pretty much ever since Fielder was dealt, Hoskins has been fine. It's nice having a stick there that other teams at least have to account for.
  12. Exactly zero general managers act in this way.
  13. LOL come on. Hoskins has been solid if not good this year, with an OPS of .799. He was decidedly not great last year, but still put up an OPS of .722, along with 26 HRs. JBJ had an abysmal OPS of .497 in his time with the Brewers. The two are not comparable.
  14. Logan Henderson = 1 MLB start, 6 IP Aaron Civale = 118 MLB starts, 639 IP I get that Henderson is shiny and new, but I suggest holding our horses before we anoint him as a better option than a guy who has been a solid MLB starter for more than a half decade.
  15. Right ... imagine writing off a highly-thought-of former 1st round 24-year-old with all of 123 MLB innings to his name. Sure am glad the Brewers seem to have better long-term planning than some around here.
  16. This post needs to be bookmarked. For posterity. Also, given who posted it, it is likely pretty evergreen.
  17. In this case, that will be the level of insufferability during that game.
  18. I imagine that was part of the decision process here. Probably same with Henderson. I would imagine we will see Craig Yoho and perhaps even Jacob Misiorowski relatively soon as well.
  19. I have to imagine that this means we'll be seeing Caleb Durbin make his MLB debut this weekend.
  20. I think even the most ardent supporters of the team realize that they likely fumbled this one. That said, the hyperbolic "fireable offense" crap is very much over the top. It's those reactions that are getting pushback.
  21. This McCalvy tweet seems to indicate that Priester is jumping straight to the MLB club.
  22. I am actually pretty excited to see him in action for the Brewers soon. The value that the Brewers gave up in this deal indicates that they think very highly of Priester's talent and future in the organization.
  23. Don't you know this is the internet? We need to immediately declare that the Brewers lost the trade in grandiose fashion.
  24. Especially those who are young and cost-controlled for the immediate future.
