  1. Can't screw up like that against a good team like the Giants. Too many screw ups looking like they are taking a possible sweep to a 2-1 series loss. Baseball is unrelenting sometimes.
  2. I don't know if anyone is expecting history to repeat itself with Norris. Pomeranz was an absolute stud after his slow start. But I don't think it's out of order to believe that an arm like Norris can be of some use in the remaining 50-some odd games.
  3. I think he saw a lefty who throws in the mid-90s, and had looked good in the month before the trade. Lightning struck with the Pomeranz deal a couple years ago, and there were some similar characteristics between the two. Obviously rare for lightning to strike twice, though, as we are seeing. But it's still early. Norris could turn out to have some value yet.
  4. Should have had yesterday's game for sure. And a 4-2 lead in the 7th inning should be a solid bet with how this team's pen has performed. Really terrible timing the COVID crap this series.
  5. Easy to see why this Giants team has the record it does despite a lack of star power. They are pesky, and play smart baseball. They take advantage of the opposing team's mistakes. They have good at-bats for the most part. They are a team I wouldn't look forward to seeing in the postseason, because this is the type of team that sneaks up on you and takes a playoff series.
  6. This would be a great time for 2018 Yelich to make his return ... if that player still exists. Edit: Maybe it doesn't.
  7. Brandon Belt is seemingly the only guy who is stinging the ball for the Giants this series. Which begs the question .... why aren't they working around the guy?
  8. That's a good question. Typically the reliever acquisitions this team has made in-season have worked out well. Early returns on Norris are not great, though ... and it seems they gave up a decent pitching prospect for him. But it is early. He's here for 2 months. He doesn't have a lot of time to make a good impression. We'll probably get 10 or 15 more innings out of him the entire season. Yep. Could be a big 10-15 innings though.

  10. I mean, the've both been thrust into high-leverage set-up rolls since the pretty much got here. Couldn't really anticipate the team losing half their bullpen to COVID. I can buy this to a point but other teams did acquire relievers and thrust them into high leverage situation and they are doing fine. If they can't handle high leverage situations, why did they acquire them? They needed depth there. They needed a couple of guys that could pitch in the 5th-6th innings. Match-up guys. I don't think those two were ever traded for with the intent of pitching in the extreme high-leverage spots they have. They replaced guys like Yardley, Perdomo, Milner or whoever else was on the Nashville shuttle. But again, COVID.

  12. I don't get it. He looks fine at 3B. Good even. Fine at 2B too. But yet he goes to SS and is a trainwreck. It must be a mental thing. I can't think of another explanation.
  13. Brett Anderson has been completely as-advertised the last two seasons. Solid, above average starting pitcher ... WHEN HEALTHY. He always seems to be battling some sort of nagging injury.
  14. I think it's more than that. The ABs have looked better over the last couple innings, but they didn't look like they were really interested for the first three. Of course, after taking it on the chin in last night's game, that is somewhat understandable.
  15. Good thing cuz the rest of the lineup has all of a single. There will be days like that. Would certainly me nice to see this team tag a decent pitcher once in a while, though. Of course, these guys are decent for a reason.
  16. Dude is typically very good in right field. Seems like a fair assessment to me. Not real sure how else it can be described. It's a catch that Garcia likely makes more than 99 times out of 100. Oh boy Oh boy? Not real sure what you are getting at here? He messed up. It was a big one. It sucked. It doesn't take away from the fact that he's having a very solid season both offensively and defensively for this team.
  17. He must be confusing Jake with his superstar cousin. Lol ... this should be written in the bluest of blue fonts.
  18. I agree ... although they need to fine ABs for Urias too. Escobar has been in there pretty much full time since he was acquired. Wong and Tellez have been hitting well. Someone has to sit to give Urias a start. Good problem to have.

  20. Honestly, if he hasn't been up by now, I doubt it will ever happen. I mean, they are bringing up scrap heap guys like Romano and coaches/commentators like Axford before him. I just don't think it's gonna happen for him. I think they feel he's maxed out as a solid AAA reliever.
  21. Yeah, pretty much. I totally understand how it would be confusing.
