  1. Who says they haven't? We have no idea what other teams have offered for Hader. It is quite obvious that the Brewers have an extremely high value on him. All this deadline is proving is that when the time comes to deal Hader, regardless of how much control is left on him, they are going to get a nice return.
  2. Enormous return for the Cubs. They did really well here. Heuer is really good. And of course, Madrigal has a ton of talent. Two MLB pieces. White Sox system sucks, though, so of course they needed to deal MLB pieces.
  3. Cubs getting Nick Madrigal and Codi Heuer from the White Sox. That is a very steep price indeed.
  4. Relief pitchers are going for way more than typical this deadline, it seems. It's the bats that teams are getting pennies on the dollar for. The fact that the Brewers seemingly gave up more value for Daniel Norris than they did Eduardo Escobar is somewhat crazy to me, but the market is what it is.
  5. Will be interesting to see what the return is. Kimbrel wasn't gonna be cheap, and the White Sox system kinda sucks.
  6. Fangraphs had him as our #6 guy. And not even on the Top 30 according to MLB Pipeline. Which shows how all over the map these prospect ranking services are with no minor league seasons last year. I personally have found MLB Pipeline to be more accurate on prospect valuation over the years, though. Fangraphs has been pretty bad, IMO.
  7. Except Pomeranz sucked as a starter and then improved when he went to the pen. Norris sucked in the bullpen and we are...keeping him in the bullpen. Norris started 29 games in 2019 my man. Went to the pen last season and was much better. Had a rough start to this year, but has been much better of late. I stand by that statement 100%
  8. Good point. I think this move somewhat confirms the idea that the club feels they cannot.
  9. Just saw that the asking price on Trevor Story is dropping. Doesn't take a lot to connect the dots there. What are the odds that the Brewers were the team exploring the idea of Trevor Story playing CF?
  10. Throws hard. Very tough on lefties. Been pitching much better for the last couple weeks. Was solid last year. Not an exciting move for sure, but is exactly the type of under-the-radar bullpen move that this front office has been known to do. They've certainly earned some benefit-of-the-doubt on these types of guys.
  11. Fastball, slider change-up guy that throws in the mid 90s. Pomeranz a little different with his knuckle-curve, but otherwise pretty similar profile. Obviously the Brewers see something in him that they can fix. He's been showing much better as a reliever since the All-Star break.
  12. Now do his numbers against LHHs Speculated that they were looking for another lefty reliever. Norris appears to be the guy.
  13. Failed LH starter making a switch to the pen. Also kind of an off-beat dude. Throws hard. https://www.themanual.com/culture/daniel-norris-mlb-feature/ Drew Pomeranz vibes, at least to me.
  14. The Blue Jays still have Berrios next year, and could theoretically put together an extension for him. The Yankees will have Gallo next year as well. You can bet they are going to try to sell Rizzo on re-signing there as well.
  15. I personally kinda wanted the Padres to do well as a hedge against the Dodgers. It's entirely conceivable that the Giants hold onto the division and the Padres beat the Dodgers in a 1 game playoff. That's truly the best case scenario at this point that doesn't involve the Brewers. It would generally be so much less gross losing the the up and coming Padres than the Dodgers who are more or less the new/better in every way Yankees. Me too. It's just fun seeing other fanbases freak out for a change. And fun seeing other teams overreact to moves that their rivals are making. I have no doubt that the Padres are gonna do something stupid this afternoon. They very much have a "little brother" complex when it comes to the Dodgers, and losing out on Scherzer, and coming away with no Berrios has to have them stewing.
  16. Padres fans have to be absolutely beside themselves right now. Which is kinda awesome. I bet the Padres make some sort of terrible deal for Gibson now.
  17. That would kill our outfield. No thanks at this time... Say it was in a package for Bryant. That would pair up nicely for the Brewers. I’m not saying I want to rid ourselves of him but fearful this will be the highest he will ever be. Me too, unfortunately. Career minor leaguer who had ok minors numbers suddenly "breaks out" as a 27-year-old in the majors? That has certainly happened in the past, but those who have done it have been more or less flashes in the pan, rather than long-term MLB contributors. Nellie Cruz is the obvious exception. I really like Taylor. He brings a terrific amount of energy and no moment has proven too big for him. He has even had some "clutch" in him. But if there is another team out there who views him as a long-term standout MLB OFer, and values him as such, then you almost have to consider a deal.
  18. Who are you benching for those "big names", though? Escobar is already going to cut into Urias's playing time. You benching Tellez after the week he's had? Taylor? Yelich when he comes back? Sometimes the grass isn't always greener. I could perhaps see a move for one of the bigger name starting pitchers, but even that has a hint of redundancy with how Houser, Lauer and Anderson hae pitched on top of our big 3. The team could use a pen arm, but other than that, I'm just not sure where they can go to get a major improvement through "emptying their farm system".
  19. Other teams when the Brewers call about an established star: "Give us Hader, Yelich's firstborn son, an ownership stake in the team, and the retroactive 2018 NL Central title." Those teams when the Yankees or Dodgers call: "Mmmmmmmm, table scraps! Can I get a selfie, Mr. Cashman?"
  20. I don't know, I get the feeling they may be done. At least as far as anything real impactful goes that would cost any of the real familiar prospects. Maybe a bullpen arm today...MAYBE. They'll make at least one deal today. That is practically guaranteed. It may not be for the "name" guy that you always want, though. Just remember, there is more that goes into a successful trade than acquiring a guy with a familiar name. Eduardo Escobar has a very familiar name to anyone who actually follows baseball, and you've basically already written that off because ... well ... I guess they made a trade, but not the kind of trade you wanted?
  21. I think Turang is a good-defense, high-contact SS/2B. What has set off alarm bells for me is the drop in his walk rate. Even when he struggled in A+ in 2019, he drew LOTS of walks. Right now, he could be "sold" high. Honestly, I think the Brewers would have been better off dealing HIM for Escobar instead of Hummel, given their need for a long-term solution at first (and Ernesto Martinez is in Low-A). You think Hummel and Turang have the same value? Ugh, what? Right ... that one is a tad over the top, even for clancy.
  22. How in the absolute world do you even have the faintest idea that he is going "nah, we're good"? I mean wow, man. They literally picked up one of the better bats on the trade market less than 24 hours ago. Simply because he wasn't one of your preferred "OMG big nammezzzz" doesn't mean the guy wasn't a viable and astute pickup.
  23. Your move Stearns. The idea of getting in a Chess match with a team not even in your division is somewhat laughable, IMO.
  24. You're better than that argument. He's a participation trophy all-star. Every team gets one and he's the best choice on a team with really no good choices. 22 HR is a great stat but he's also got a 300 OBP and sub 800 OPS. That's not a stat line that forces his way into the lineup everyday, especially as a mediocre defender. When you have been starting guys like Keston Hiura and Jackie Bradley Jr. regularly, it sure as heck does. This makes the regular, every-day lineup better. There is little doubt there.
