  1. Why? It’s better on the mind. I'll take a one-hit shutout in a game started by the #5 starter on a crappy pitching staff. Every time. And not feel bad at all about it.
  2. Sadly. yes I mean, (well it's a moot point now) if they indeed did finish off the no hitter, would anyone really get excited about it? Yes ... yes they would. Most definitely.
  3. Almost wonder if that's why he's going with Williams and not Guerra or Albers? Those guys are more of the "pitch to contact" guys, while Williams is more of a "blow it by you" or "get blown up" type.
  4. Yeah, maybe they let him come out for the 7th, but that's it. At 100+, little chance And he is pitching well...but not that great. This is quite possibly the first time I've seen a pitcher go six innings and give up no hits, and have this description attached to his outing.
  5. He was out there jawing with the ump too. No, he wasn't. He walked out there to escort Cain back to the dugout. He never said a word to the umpire. They literally just showed the replay on TV, and he was there as soon as Cain got tossed, and was talking to the ump. Just because he doesn't look like Lou Pinella out there doesn't mean he isn't standing up for his players or showing emotion.
  6. Either a bad send or Braun wasn't running hard. In any case, Windmill Eddie hasn't been very Windmilly this season, so I guess he was due.
  7. Haha ... no. Not even in the same stratosphere. But Lyles is a ML pitcher, and he's proving it in his time with the Brewers this season.
  8. He's always had a live arm. It's always been about finding and maintaining consistency with him. He's been a pleasant surprise since coming over.
  9. He's not a late bloomer because it's not late. He was drafted last year and is in his first year of full-season ball. That is not the definition of a late bloomer. He on the typical path of a pitcher drafted as a senior in college.
  10. Continuing to rip Stearns for dealing Santana is an incredibly weird hill to die on. That trade is basically a draw right now, without even factoring Zavolas into the equation. Yeah, Santana would make the Brewers a little less LHH heavy, but the guy cannot play defense, and the Brewers simply didn't want that.
  11. Again, Zavolas is not a late bloomer. He was drafted by the Mariners LAST YEAR!
  12. What about the legit pitching prospect alluded to in several previous posts that you neglect to mention? This was not a 1-for-1 deal, even though the two OF WAR # come pretty close to matching. If you are basing the return only on what the MLB team has gotten, that seems like it might be a little too narrow of a viewpoint. Would Santana have helped? Maybe. Or he might have been just as nearly useless as he was most of last season. Just because he put up a half season of good stats for Seattle doesn't mean that would have happened in Milwaukee. Not to discredit the pitcher or the trade, but the man is 23 years old. Playing A ball. He should be doing fairly well there. I hope he turns into a legit prospect. But would like to see him advance a bit first. As far as Santana goes. I’m glad I never have to see him play RF ever again. Zavolas is a 2018 draftee. This is his first year in full-season ball. Obviously older for a draftee, as he was a senior, but still ... pitcher of the year in his first full season is not something to overlook.
  13. Dangit ... stop using numbers and logic to disprove the "Stearns Sucks!!!" viewpoint!

  15. He was out there with a bunch of guys who were auditioning for the XFL, but yeah, I see your point Boyle looked much more decisive and confident in his throws after starting a little rough. I guess, but didn't Taysom Hill atleast do SOMETHING in the same circumstances? I won't try to argue that Kizer doesn't suck ... just that his supporting cast did him no favors either. I think Kizer is gone.

  17. David Carr was going to say the same thing, but he was hit before he could get it out.
  18. Agreed regarding Davis. He looks like a legit NFL receiver for the first time in his career tonight. EQ's injury may have made it easier for both Davis and Lazard to make the team. Shepherd has looked good as well, though. Have to think he is Davis's main competition.
  19. How's this ... the Brewers are substantially better than the Reds right now, and will be for the next several years as well. And that's no even misguided optimism. It's the truth.
