  1. Not one starter is out there. But if all 22 of those guys get hurt, you're probably right. How you can possibly get that amount of pessimism out of this performance I have no idea.
  2. Doubtful. In fact, highly doubtful. There's enough cupcakes to get the minimum number of wins to get to the Hertz Rent-a-car Bowl.
  3. Ditto ... this is the Brewers optimism thread. The last thing I want to read is an ode to one of their division rivals. A hugely overrated one at that.
  4. Well there’s our “Ace” bullpen arm. You know it's ok to have tempered optimism, right?
  5. McGinn just announced via Twitter that he will be back writing about the Packers and the Draft this year. No other details. Says we'll find out Monday. Wonder if we're getting a "Why I'm joining the Athletic" post?
  6. Jimmy Nelson's line from his AAA rehab appearance today against the Iowa Cubs: 3 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K So ... that's promising. I know a lot of members here have written off Nelson. I'm not ready to do that. The guy is just too hard of a worker. If there is one guy in this organization that would be capable of reinventing himself as a totally different pitcher, and still be able to make it work, it's him.
  7. As a 2018 college senior draftee, Zavolas is playing his first year of full-season pro ball. I suspect he'll be bumped to Biloxi next year, if not San Antonio, which will put him right on track age-wise with other pitching prospects.
  8. Congratulations to A+ catcher Mario Feliciano for being named the Carolina League's MVP!!! Also congrats to Noah Zavolas, who was named the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Year for 2019! So, about that last-place minor league system ranking ...
  9. Every single one of those things cost the millions of dollars that you have bemoaned the organization for all year for not sinking into the player payroll. So either you are seeing the light that there is more to a successful organization than spending every available dollar on the on-field product in a given year, or you are backtracking significantly.
  10. The highlight videos I've seen don't have any radar gun readings, but it certainly appears that his once vaunted velocity is back. He's pitching his way toward a promotion in short order, and a likely 40-man spot this offseason. The way he's pitching, his age and the fact that he's being used in relief make him a pretty ideal candidate to be plucked in the Rule 5 Draft if not protected.
  11. Brewers brass has to see what they have in Tuffy Gosewisch?
  12. He would be a good fit, but I am also interested in seeing what Grisham can do in a full time role. I think he's being miscast as a platoon guy, as his minors splits against LHP are not significantly worse than against RHP. If he has the chance of being a complete hitter, I think they need to explore that.
  13. Has happened way too often this year. Score early and hibernate. But I thought the offense problem was hibernate too long before scoring late... All of the above
  14. It kinda bothers me that Tyler Webb is now a solid lefty reliever. He showed absolutely nothing in his short time as a Brewer. Of course the Cardinals find his cheat code.
  15. Nothing to write home about, but he's an experienced MLB pitcher who's been good out of the pen in his career.
  16. If the Brewers' pen is a dumpster fire, the Cubs' is a full-on landfill fire. Darvish gave up 4 homers tonight And Derek Holland proceeded to come in and get slapped around.
  17. If the Brewers' pen is a dumpster fire, the Cubs' is a full-on landfill fire.
  18. Well, the way the offense started things off, I thought this might be a game where they go off. Hasn't happened, though, and it's a close game again. it's time for the offense to throw some runs up and put it out of reach (if that is even possible with this pen).
  19. Bring him up ... the ballpark is already named after him! LOL ... At least Miller used to be a good ML pitcher. There might be something still there. Shaw with two bombs tonight as well.
  20. Shelby Miller spinning a gem tonight for San Antonio. 6 innings (so far), 1 R, 0 ER, 6 Ks.
  21. He's proven he can throw his sinker, curve and slider all for strikes, as well as a FB that sits at 94-96, and has been dialed up to 97. He's definitely got the pitch mix to be a solid starter.
