  1. and there's plenty of room to hop on that bandwagon.
  2. Can't hit the strike zone unless it's a middle-middle BP fastball. Kinda looks like he belongs to me.
  3. They are putting a lot of bad baseball on tape, that's for sure. They've shown flashes of the magic they had last year, but those flashes have been fleeting and far too few and far between. It's really too bad because, on paper, this is a very good team. It's really hard to peg the problems to one or two big issues, too. There are a bunch of small ones that are just piling up.
  4. And a good start to the inning gets nixed with the Grandal DP ball that a 6 year old could have turned. So much for that Saturday classic being a turning point ... unless it was a turning point from mediocre to ... well ... this.
  5. Agreed. Instead, they brought up the hottest hitter in the minors and decided to make him a part-time platoon player.
  6. Im sure you'll be back when they sign Madison Bumgarner in January. Also, it isn't Packer season. It is watch Kizer overthrow 5th string wideouts by 10 feet season.
  7. That was the epitome of the Brewers' season right there. Pretty perfect. Why in the heck isn't Braun playing 1B by now?
  8. yeah I really hate this move...but then again the cupboard is pretty flipping bare in that pen right now I feel like we see some variation of this post pretty much every night. "I don't like (reliever x), but what choice is there?" Albers. Right now our only actual decent choice is Albers (IMO) Yeah ... pretty rough when there is only one guy in the pen you can have even a little hope with.
  9. JJ has actually been decent in August. Started the month with a rough outing against the Cubs, then went on a nice run. Gave up the run in 2 1/3 on Saturday. Otherwise been good.
  10. Soft line drive, marginal HBP and Yadi hits it about the only place he possibly could to get an infield hit. Pretty much the definition of the Brewers' season.
  11. I thought for sure they'd bring him back to work in the pen. But perhaps not ...
  12. You might want to stop reaching too much or you're gonna end up with a shoulder injury. He "hurt" his shoulder in the final pre-season game, practiced the next week and was inactive. And I'm not betting on anything. I'm disagreeing with your characterization that he's "useless," or that the coaches are growing impatient with him because of his injury history and inability to handle the "rigors" or returning kicks or being a WR'er. Who exactly would they not be growing impatient of under these criteria? I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then. Which is fine. Perhaps I'm just jaded by never really liking or understanding drafting Davis to begin with. I'm a proponent of WRs who are big and strong, or small, quick and shifty guys who can excel in the slot. I just don't think Davis is either of those.
  13. Theres no doubt that Davis is talented. But there's also the old adage that "you can't make the club in the tub", and that applies fully to him as well. There was some scuttle butt that they tried to deal him last year, but he was hurt (again). I think their patience for this guy is just about done. He just doesn't have the frame to stand up to the rigors and pounding a NFL WR and returner takes. Ok, you're saying they couldn't trade him last year because he was hurt. -Again. He wasn't, that was the first injury that cost him playing time. Healthy his rookie year, healthy his second year, missed time last year with a hamstring injury. So I don't see why this first-year staff and his first-year coach who would be losing their patience with him or why you'd call him "useless." If you don't like him and you just don't think he should make the team, that's fine. But you're exaggerating the facts to support that case. And for the record, the injury he has now is a stinger. A fluke injury. that's as preventable as a concussion. Do you think maybe that stinger was the reason Rodgers was so upset? One of the guys that both Rodgers and Bakhtiari have said could be the "breakout player" because he fits the system so well? So if he doesn't make the team, I really doubt it'll be because of any of the old cliches about "the best ability is...," or being in the "tub" after suffering a stinger during a joint practice that upset Rodgers enough that he publicly spoke out about it. It'll likely just be becuase the Packers liked the younger guys who would be cheaper in future years more than Davis. Missed time his rookie year due to a shoulder injury. But last year was a lost year completely due to hamstring issues that started with OTAs and lasted all year. Yeah, he could come back and be a contributor this year. But I wouldn't bet on it.
  14. This is the hottest of your "what have you done for me lately" hot takes. IMO the Brewers are not in the situation of having to cut costs.
  15. What's the middle ground? Is Attanasio going to half-fire Stearns?
  16. So you think Stearns has had a good year? Hasn’t made an inordinate amount of mistakes, from the early rotation to the horrible pitching shuttle to sending Hiura back down to the imbalance of lefty hitters, to keeping a near .530 hitter vs lefties down all year. Oh, almost forgot, letting DJ go. If I had more time to think, I could probably come up with more bad decision making. Isn’t that enough? You said this back in February: Stearns & co has built a championship caliber team for this year. What Separates this team from any other national league team including the dodgers is there depth. Best 40 man in league and it’s not even Close! This team will overcome injuries because of it, And get stronger at the trade deadline. And like last year dominate sept with Call-ups. This will be one of mlb’s super teams THIS year! What Stearns has done in the last 41 months is simply astounding! viewtopic.php?f=63&t=38134&p=1197234#p1197234 You can't go from that to wanting him fired 6 months later just because the results haven't been as good as you had expected, man. MIC DROP
  17. Enough to fire him? Hell no. Yeah, some of the moves have been questionable or flat out bad. Some he made last year were questionable at the time as well. The difference is that last year most of those ended up working out. They haven't this year. It's baseball. That happens. Sometimes it just isn't your year. But to overreact and call for change when that happens is a great way to guarantee that EVERY year isn't going to be your year.
  18. 1.8 million not what I would call expensive, especially to not have to see Arcia flail away anymore, I’d call that the best value in all of sports. So you're just ignoring the post that points out that Galvis's K percentage is higher than Arcia's? That's on point.
  19. IMO, criticizing the team for not replacing Arcia with a slightly better version is akin to complaining about the steak in the buffet line being too well done on a sinking cruise ship.
  20. Arcia hasn't been good this year offensively, no doubt. But saying that Freddy Galvis is a "leaps and bounds" better option is an empty "grass is always greener" argument. We saw the same thing earlier this year with Justin Smoak when Aguilar and Thames were struggling. I'm not under any sort of delusion that this team is fine or doesn't have problems. But advocating for replacing our underperforming players with someone else's more expensive, but still underperforming players is a typical fan fallacy that I'm personally happy our team leadership doesn't fall into.
  21. Absolutely. Unfortunately, we're getting pretty late in the season for moral victories. The standings still aren't a problem -- we came back from a bigger deficit in September last year. The problem to me is that this team just isn't going to be good enough. Last year, when Knebel started coming into form, when the team acquired Soria and Burnes was pitching lights out in the pen, you just got the sense that they could make a run. I just don't have that this year. Woodruff is the big one, but by then it might be too little, too late. Right now the pitching help on the way and in reserve is Brent Suter, Bobby Wahl, Ray Black, Jake Faria...I just don't see it. I just don't think these guys are good enough to carry us to the kind of September we had last year. Just looking for the positives in what was a rough evening. Hudson is the type of pitcher this team was built to destroy, and they were horrid. This team continues to be one of the most frustrating teams in recent memory to root for ... well this and the 2012 team. So many similarities between the two.
  22. At least Zach Davies was solid tonight. Not great, but good enough that he should have kept a decent offense in the game.
  23. He must be bothered by something, I assume. I wonder if he's in California getting a cryo injection in his thumb? I think it was around this same time last year that he got one.
