    Black has way way way way better stuff than the 2 mental midgets that you just mentioned. Command. It’s that simple. Right? Go take a look at what Barnes did through around mid June last year and let me know how many years and how long of an extension you'd have given him? Simple, obvious, this guy had figured it out. He also throws 99 with a big slider, I'd pretty confidently say his slider bites more than Blacks. I think it's pretty obvious from BC92's takes that anything anyone did last year does not matter at all. Heck, we're lucky if anything someone did more than two weeks ago comes into play.

    Black is out of options next year, so he'd be here to stay.

    Yep, obviously yesterday's result is not ideal, but the command of his pitches was crap. He couldn't get his breaking ball over, and when you are forced to groove a FB, it doesn't matter how fast it is. I'm still optimistic about his chances of being a solid late inning pen option. I don't think anyone is calling him a future closer quite yet, though.

    We'll probably never know whether Smith was ever on the table for Dubon, but given the choice of a partial season of Smith or a partial season of Pomeranz, and 6 years of Black, I think I'd choose the latter. Given his age and lack of track record, I'm still not sure we get 1 more year of Black, let alone 6. I don't know what to make of Black so far. He's gotten the job done for the most part, but there hasn't been much substance to it. It's been a lot more pitching to contact than I would have expected. But if he can keep the walks low that is a good sign. Obviously it is a pretty small sample, but Black hasn't shown me anything so far to indicate that he won't be a regular member of the pen next season. Next couple weeks are going to be big for him, as Counsell has started using him in higher leverage situations. Things can obviously change, but as of right now, his spot in the 2020 pen is secure.

    You are skewing statistics to suit your argument. Now let me try. I am almost positive that DHonks is referring to JJ's last three appearances, where he's pitched a total of 3 2/3 innings of 1-hit ball. Small sample to be sure, but there's no denying that he has looked better over the last week. Isn't using the last three games also skewing the stats to fit the argument? Yes ... hence why I prefaced it by saying "let me try"

    Binged both seasons of Cobra Kai on YouTube last week. Parts of it are pretty hokey, but it was a fun trip down nostalgia lane for this '80s kid. Watching a show told from Johnny Lawrence's perspective really makes you go back and see the original movies differently too.

    Brewcrewin07 went from shooting for the moon (Syndergaard), to shooting for an airplane (Ray), to shooting for a sparrow (Roark). He got to the point with his "grass is always greener" philosophy that he literally wanted to grab anyone that wasn't familiar. All he cared about was wanting a big name guy at first, damned the current results or price. At the end, he simply wanted anyone, yet at the same time he knocked Jordan Lyles and Jacob Faria because he self-appointingly called them "non needle-movers". The guy was all over the map in his disgust.

    You are right. A lot of uncertainty going into next year. With what they are paying Cain, they need him to rebound and be productive next year as well. At 1B today's Aguilar deal all but guarantees that Thames' option will be picked up. Do they move Braun to 1B to platoon with Thames next year and open a spot for Grisham? Perhaps they could resign one of Moose or Grandal ... I mean Moose's market has been crap the last two offseasons, and while he's been decent this year, I can't imagine another team is going to suddenly decide to give him a 3-year, $50 million deal. Do they give Nottingham the chance to win the catcher's job? Pina? Freitas? As for the rotation, I agree that Woody and Davies are likely locks. I think Houser is getting close to being a lock as well. Do they bank on Burnes taking a much-needed leap? Faria is a talented dude that has a chance. Peralta? Definitely more uncertainty right now than at the end of 2018.

    I don't know about that. That rightfielder seems pretty decent, and they have a young 2B who is hitting OK. Honestly, this is a team that has a legit super-duperstar in Yelich, and potential ones in Hiura and Woodruff. If they can make smart moves to surround those guys with solid MLB players, that is the foundation of a strong team for the next 3 years.

    Spot on. Gives the staff a shot in the arm, without giving up Moose or Grandal. Pomeranz's numbers as a reliever are very intriguing to me (2.83 ERA, 9.6 K/9). If he does well, he's worth bringing back. Might be worth retaining just as a dominating reliever who could go multiple innings. He's also only 1 1/2 years removed from a very solid 2-year run as a starter for the Red Sox. Only 30 years old too. Some Miley situational similarities.

    Lyles and Pomeranz are total gap fillers. Black and Faria have legit upside, though. The only determination you can make right now on the trades is "we'll see."

    I think the Peralta starting this season ship has sailed. I obviously could be wrong, but I think he's in the pen for good from here out. He'll get another shot as a starter next year.

    Grisham is not in the lineup for the Missions tonight. That seems odd coming off his showing last night.

    Probably not the best time to bash Houser starting coming off a terrific outing against a very good lineup. You are grasping at straws now. Take a deep breath and relax. 1 good start...1... how were his other ones earlier?? Note the difference between his bullpen/starter ERA. This is the same Adrian Houser that everyone here wanted moved back to the pen. That last sentence isn't true. At all. Houser had some growing pains no doubt, but he's shown very good stuff and has a future in the rotation. Again ... you need to calm down.

    That horse is still twitching. You keep on beating that thing until it's a pulp! Let me ask you, are you satisfied with the rotation right now?? Is it division winning quality to you?? I'll hang up and listen to your answer I think you should probably hang up and turn off the radio. Maybe take a walk. Am I satisfied? It is what it is. The Brewers possibly don't have the prospect depth to get the high-end starter you seem to crave, and even if they did, they'd be emptying the farm for one guy, when they can probably use two or three. It's a crappy situation to be in, but that's baseball. They need to hope that the fill-in starters perform up to par, the pen reinforcements come in and catch lighting in a bottle, and for gosh sakes, the line-up needs to score some runs. Then we can talk about winning the division.

    Are you suggesting Tanner Roark was the solution? He really isn't very good either. No absolutely not, I just added that on to my post...but getting NO rotation help is an absolute Joke. Still an hour and 20 minutes to go. Again ... hold tight.
