  1. My thoughts as well. I can definitely see him hitting 35 homeruns, driving in 110, and hitting .320 the next 4 years. Man is it nice to have a bat like his that can match Braun’s production when he was in his prime. We are one big bat away from a very potent offense. Did you watch the AFL this year? Some guy named Hiura may just be that big bat... at NO cost. The AFL is most assuredly NOT MLB pitching. I like Hiura too, but the kid hasn't played a second of AAA baseball. He may fit into the back portion of this team's contender window, but I doubt he does right now.
  2. The thought of Goldschmidt in the middle of that Cardinal lineup kind of makes me a little ill. I really hope that doesn't happen. He'll only be there one year and it will hurt the Cards farm system. One year during the Brewers' limited contention window. I'd much prefer the Cardinals just go away down to mediocre land for the next 5 years. If they need directions, they can ask the Reds and Pirates.
  3. The thought of Goldschmidt in the middle of that Cardinal lineup kind of makes me a little ill. I really hope that doesn't happen.
  4. This would be the equivalent of us sending the Mariners Burnes, Trey Supak or Zach Brown, and Troy Stokes I guess. Probably a solid deal for both sides.
  5. Watching these catcher chips fall is a very good thing for the Brewers if they are truly interested in Realmuto. Even though they may say they are not trading him in their own division, I'm not going to believe the Braves are out until they grab a guy like Ramos.
  6. Who else are they going to bring back off of IR? Wilkerson, Ryan, and Allison are out for the year. They get to bring back one more player off of IR - why not see if Kumerow is anything? I'm not sure if Kyle Murphy could be brought back or not. Offensive line depth might make sense. They might be holding the spot, too, for someone yet to get injured (or one who was hurt yesterday - Graham?) to be activated should the team make the playoffs.
  7. More interesting they are looking a fringe pitching options with so many internal candidates. You would think if they looked at pitching it would be more high end. Not if some of those internal options are on the trade block.
  8. Makes sense as a versatile guy who can go multiple innings and shouldn't cost a whole lot relative to the value he provides.
  9. People get attached to prospects. It's part of being a fan of and MLB team. There were several posts saying that the Brewers gave up too much, alluding to the idea that Yelich wasn't a difference-making player. That is going to happen this winter, too, when the Brewers inevitably make another big trade acquisition. The fact is, this team has a prime 2-3 year window that can possibly be stretched to 4 with some solid soft-rebuild moves. They need to identify which prospects are part of that window, and which are currency to acquire outside talent which will be.
  10. I sure am glad they didn't give up on Kyler Fackrell. Gotta love that guy's motor. Guys like Fackrell, Clark, Lowry, Martinez and Alexander give me a lot of hope for the future of the defense. It appears they are going to have to dip into free agency for safety help for sure. Josh Jones is a wild card.
  11. I don't know. Would having another WR that knows how to actually run a route be a horrible thing? It would be nice to see what they have in him, and if he can be a future contributor. WR is going to be stacked next year regardless.
  12. I don't think I've ever heard the idea that Rodgers is uncoachable. Sure, Viking fans like to throw the crybaby crap out there, but there's really no substance to that either. I appears to me that Rodgers is pressing. He's having trouble getting on the same page with the rookie WRs. As stupid as this sounds, maybe it's time to activate Kumerow and give him an opportunity? He seemed to have a nice connection with Rodgers in the preseason. I have no interest is watching Rodgers lock in on Adams exclusively the rest of the year.
  13. I hear that QB coach down in New Orleans is a pretty hot name. Pretty familiar name, too. In all seriousness, Joe Lombardi just may be considered for head coaching jobs this offseason. It would be a ton of pressure coming to coach in Green Bay considering his family heritage, but the Saints run the type of innovative offensive scheme that could really help the Packers. Pete Carmichael, their OC, is a possibility as well. Of course, they will probably just find the best candidate named "Mike".
  14. I don't think the playoffs save his job. If they don't make at least the NFC Championship game, he's toast. I agree, though. Seeing this team win out wouldn't surprise me at all. The talent is there. The coaching sucks, and there is no consistency. If Rodgers gets hot, the defense is playing well enough to beat teams. Now the real question is would that actually be a good thing?
  15. Hey thanks dude. Don’t think I ever said HaHa was some difference maker or having him would make a difference. Just that it was an obvious sign/move that they weren’t serious about the season. It made them worse. I don't think there's a shred of evidence to support that. He's a mediocre player with a blue chip pedigree that never lived up to it. He made no big impact and they were burned all the time with him on the field. Trading him was a business move. They are going to be players in free agency, so they likely wouldn't have garnered a comp pick for him. Yes, things look optimistic for next year. Bring in a young, innovative coach, drop some of the high-priced dead weight (Matthews, Perry, Cobb), and hopefully you have a rejuvenated QB.
  16. Yeah I'm not seeing this. Ha-Ha wasn't good. He was pretty big disappointment and had become a malcontent. Somehow, the real problem on this team is the offense. It has talent and looks good but just has no rhythm to it at all. That last-ditch drive was very telling. Not even a pulse there. Pathetic. Yeah, Ha-Ha sucked. He was downright embarrassing. He played hard when he wanted to, which was roughly 15% of the time. Wasted 1st round pick.
  17. This team is the definition of mediocre. They are above average when Rodgers is on. He was not tonight. What a horrible, disheartening loss. More wasted timeouts and a missed field goal burn them. They just don't have the will to put anyone away. McCarthy is done.
  18. I thought Lucas Patrick was out with a concussion?
  19. At the end of the day, no one really know what packages are being offered, and how the Marlins value each of them. Judging by who the Marlins chose in the Yelich deal, though, I would imagine that they are going to focus more on tools and upside than prospects that are MLB ready. But just because a team offers a theoretical package of multiple guys on some arbitrary Top 100 list doesn't mean that the Marlins don't put a higher value on a different package.
  20. This came from @Bucksbrett twitter account who broke the Moustakas trade before Rosenthal last year. So take it how you want to. Not surprising really at all. Catcher is a hole, and Realmuto is one of if not the best in the game, and is available.
  21. Yeah, you are probably right. The thought was just trying to cut down on the swing-and-miss tendencies. It is sickening sometimes watching how much this team K's it's way out of scoring opportunities as currently constructed.
  22. The White Sox are apparently making Avisail Garcia available in a trade: He had a down year last year while fighting injury, but was terrific in 2017. He's only 27 years old, so still in his theoretical prime. He's not known as a great defensive RF, but has a cannon for an arm. To me, he looks like a player than may show more consistency than Domingo Santana, definitely with less swing-and-miss tendencies. Feinsand's tweet indicates he is a possible non-tender if not traded, so I can't imagine the prospect price is going to be too awfully high. Thoughts?
  23. Merrifield is coming off a year where he batted .304 with a .367 OBP, an .806 OPS, 12 HRs and 45 steals. Hiura is a good prospect, but I think that's an enormous leap of faith in a guy who has never even seen a AAA pitch. Maybe Hiura's eventual ceiling is higher, but I don't know how much higher it could possibly be. Those are prime 2B offensive numbers, and are pretty much exactly what this lineup needs to be more consistent. This team's window is the next 2-3 years for sure, and hopefully the next 4-5 years. Hiura fits well in the back half of that window, but the early part is iffy unless he continues his torrid Arizona Fall League hitting at AAA next year and earns a call-up. But I think we need to tap the brakes on the idea that Hiura can hit MLB pitching at an All-Star level right now. That isn't impossible, obviously, but it would be very very unlikely.
  24. They very well may have gotten the indication from Taylor or his representation that he was intent on looking for a different opportunity if he got to minor league free agency. He likely doesn't have the physical tools of a guy like Keon Broxton (not many do), but he probably profiles as a better hitter. I wonder if he is going to be looked at as a potential #4-5 OF next year? There may not be room for him on the initial roster, but with Braun's injury woes, Taylor's ability to play all three spots in the OF could come in handy. It all could be moot, though, as the Hot Stove season is just getting underway, and his roster spot is probably precarious.
  25. Seems like a "Rule 5" type upside guy, without the roster restraints. I like it, too. Can never have enough hard-throwing guys capable of going multiple innings. That fact that he's a lefty is even better. Because he signed a minor league contract now, he would be eligible to be taken by another team in the Rule 5, correct?
