  1. Since Holland declined a QO, it will also cost a draft pick (IIRC the Brewer 4th round pick) and the related signing pool money. I do not think a 1 yr deal makes much sense considering the other things that have to be given up (besides salary). If it could be a 2 yr deal at $15M total, I would be more inclined to sign him.. Ouch, didn't know he stupidly turned down a QO. More bad advice from the agent world. Not surprised.
  2. I don't think a 1/7 contract hurts our ability to add a player or two at the deadline. If Holland is interested I would be down.
  3. Maybe Cobb doesn’t want to play in Milwaukee.
  4. I think the Brewer staff is getting sold short big time and as fans we always want to win now. The Yelich Cain signings have gives us a 5 year window , how many spots do we really have open offensively for the foreseeable future? Maybe DS didn't get the big time pitching we all wanted this off-season but what if he's able to add during the season or next off season. Maybe Santana adds to his value. Maybe a prospect explodes and we can use him in a trade. and we have 3 prospects very close to the majors and expected to have an impact (Huira, Burnes and Peralta). I don't think the 5 year plan for the Brewers has looked this bright since the late 70's. Enjoy the ride boardmates!!!
  5. Just to clear this up. I threw this out there as I was not on the phone with Stearns and Walkers agent nor in any meetings with them. I do recall Stearns saying something to the affect that 3-4 years would be out of his comfort area. This is from a FA projection/tracker site 28. Neil Walker – Brewers. Two years, $20MM. A year ago, Walker chose to accept the hefty $17.2MM salary that came with the Mets’ qualifying offer rather than hit the market with a draft pick cost attached. He then engaged in multiyear extension talks with the Mets, but nothing came to fruition. This summer, the second baseman missed over a month with a hamstring injury and was traded to the Brewers in August. Walker continued his career-long run as an above-average hitter in 2017. However, the 32-year-old has averaged 112 games over the last two years and may be hard-pressed to find a three-year deal in free agency. There aren’t a ton of teams seeking a second baseman, with the Angels, Blue Jays, Mets and perhaps Red Sox as possibilities if the Brewers don’t bring Walker back.
  6. I haven’t seen this mentioned. Looking at our starting staff over the next 2-5 years, how does it look and how realistic is it to think Hader could be a TOR and Burnes slotted in there. Hader Nelson Anderson Burnes 5th guy If we think we can get to this it would put the Brew in a great position to do a Davies, Woodruff and Phillips type of a deal. I think everybody wants to win the WS in 2018 because of Cain and Yelich, I’m ok winning it in 19, 20 or 21
  7. Bump. sorry want to clear some clutter without doing EBAY.
  8. If I’m Stearns I make a final offer to JA and AC, attach a deadline to the offers and leak the offers, this will further deleverage the players position.
  9. Walker will be lucky to get more than 1/6, the longer he stays out the worse for him. Same for LuCroy. Sign 1 year deals and hope for better next year.
  10. Not directing this at you specifically, but this is a lot easier to say for those of us who aren't signing the check. If I'm the one paying for the richest contract in franchise history, I'm definitely going to be concerned about the return on my investment. Arrieta definitely increases our odds at a WS, but he far from guarantees it. Say we sign Arrieta for 5/125. How confident is everyone that cumulatively over the next 5 years, Arrieta outproduces Corbin Burnes or even Brandon Woodruff? The Brew better be damn sure Arrieta or any FA is going to be special if they go to the 5/125 neighborhood. If Cobb will do 4/60 I think that’s a better hope for a ROI. If you think Burnes and/or Woodruff is the goods you may not have to sign anybody. 8th inning still scares me.
  11. Ive seen some rumblings Arrietta wants Price money. Boras is under a lot of pressure to deliver. I saw where the Cubs offered Arrietta 4/110 extension after his big season and he said no thanks. Boras is trying to get teams to buy in to Arrietta's "prestige". God the guy is a joke
  12. That 2/20 was last year before the season ended. Walker and Lucroy aren’t going to get numbers close to what’s being thrown around on here IMHO. Some players have already signed discounted deals, the ones who don’t cave will be waiting for the phone to ring. A lot of players are getting bad advice from their agents. I had an exchange on Twitter about a month ago with Josh Kusnick and he really had zero clue or feel for this market, all he did is cried collusion because agents/players are/were getting desperate. He has since blocked me on Twitter which I take as a compliment.
  13. O'Dowd was on the radio (1510) this morning and he said he didn't see the Brewers as a player for Arrietta because of the ask. He did say he saw Cobb as a really good fit for us. Kind of getting down to the nitty gritty. Pitchers need 3-4 weeks to get stretched out don't they?
  14. Didn't Walker turn down a 2 year $20 million dollar extension from the Brewers because he wanted like 4/48. This is beyond hilarious (except for the Walker family).
  15. Guys this is speculation rumor thread. Let people speculate and comment about rumors.
  16. So that would be 5.5 for Lucroy. NO way. Not this off-season. I think Stearns agrees.
  17. Lucroy isn't the same player guys, lets close the book on this one.
  18. LA or MILWAUKEE could be the title of this thread
  19. I agree with this strategy as well but try to look at the coin you select and look for use. Some of these coins don't even have platforms yet and are only on white paper. Its an amazing vertical if you have the stomach to handle the swings. I rode XRP from 90 cents to $3.28 back down to 70 cents and now its at $1.10. This all happened since 12/22/17. Invest in this instead of going to the casino
  20. I like ADA and XRP ALOT Verge and Tron i would shy away from. (IMHO)
  21. LuCroy better get ready to accept $3-5 million on a 1 or 2 year deal.
  22. The pitching names are out there for trades.
  23. Santana Woodruff goes in a trade package potentially.
  24. It would be a tad dissappointing. Cobb seems like a fit, do a 4 year deal. See how we start off, Nelson comes back in June and DS has laid the groundwork for a mid season deal if need be. I haven’t been this excited for the Brewers since the early 80’s.
