  1. He's fooled plenty of people. The problem is that's all he does. No margin for error. He walks a tightrope and he's good, but when Knebel and Hader are on they're better.
  2. You can't just ride JJ, Hader, and Knebel throughout the postseason. You need to trust other guys some times. Now it's a catch-22 because everyone else is rusty. Damn. It's always been a delicate balance with JJ, but let's not forget how good the Dodgers are.
  3. Burnes was not fooling anyone. I can't criticize them for trying to get some quality innings from Soria, Cedeno, and Burnes, but it's tough when you haven't had enough work for everyone and they're rusty. Kind of a vicious cycle.
  4. Even good Corey has typically walked a batter nearly every 2 innings. He's working the edges of the zone, as he should, and will continue to dominate as long as his command is good enough to get a few calls and a lot of swings and misses.
  5. Over 100 games at catcher as a very young prospect with the Braves. Maybe that's why he made the postseason 25 in what must have been a very close call?
  6. He came in on the double switch when they went to Jeffress. Didn't catch that but you see what I was worried about. Kratz has to know the situation and keep his mouth shut there.
  7. I think I go with Knebel in the 9th unless the Brewers score here. Just more comfortable with his electric stuff, even though JJ had a much better year.
  8. Could easily want 2 innings out of each of them tomorrow and again on Monday. Better to err on the side of rest for your best relievers when you have a chance to.
  9. Honestly it's kind of weird to use a great reliever so much if you're just going to turn around and use one of your worst ones. Don't get me wrong - I do want to use Cedeno, I just didn't want to use Hader so much. What's the plan - maximize your odds of winning even though they're already very good, or get work for guys you're going to need more the rest of the series?
  10. Another possible issue with 3 innings for Hader could be not enough work for other guys who you're going to need eventually.
  11. I can live with it but with the RHB's at the plate this inning, I don't know. Someone might have scored on Cain's double if they had used a PH.
  12. Fine. This is what Hader does. He's a long reliever and you may as well make the most of his game days because he's off tomorrow and back Monday either way.
  13. Love Counsell but I'd like to see the analytics that say leading off an inning isn't an important at-bat. He seems to wait to use a PH until they have a leverage at-bat, but you're much less likely to have that if you lead off with a pitcher. I think leading off before the top of the order hits is high leverage by definition.
  14. I like using Hader here. You know he faces Bellinger, and Grandal is quite a bit better against RHP's. It doesn't matter if it's the "bottom" of the order. There isn't much of a bottom with their lineup and the guys that are still available on the bench.
  15. Hard to question anything they do anymore. They might bring in another LHB PH and then the Brewers will still have a gauntlet of RHP's in the pen.
  16. Why say it like this, seriously? If you called a Woodruff hit, then show us. Otherwise don't post stuff like this. Ridiculous to put this kind of tone in a game thread when the Brewers have been playing so well and everyone should be enjoying it. Blue=sarcasm Right. And why be sarcastic there? It was valid to want a position player in that AB, even though Woodruff ended up hitting a HR.
