  1. With no outs, usually... but with this team's execution? I don't know.
  2. I want everything nice I ever said about Counsell stricken from the record if he uses Chacin to sacrifice with Shaw on 1st and 1 out.
  3. Check September: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=guerrju02&t=p&year=2018
  4. 56 pitches on 3 days rest is plenty. Don't let him hit. That's why you kept 14 batters. Use them!
  5. Hope the bullpen is ready for a lot of work today. Gio and Guerra should each get a turn through the order. Also, posted this in the game thread but it will get buried there: Found what I was looking for: On September 10th, 2016, Chacin pitched 2 innings in relief. He started a game and pitched 6 effective innings 4 days later. On August 8th, 2009, Chacin pitched 2 innings in relief. He started a game and walked 6 guys in 2.2 innings (4 ER) 3 days later. He has never made 2 starts in a 4-day period until today. This isn't the perfect thread for it but it's indirectly related. I like what the Brewers did with their roster overall but this still makes me nervous.
  6. For sure. Probably ~55 pitches in 3 innings, and that's if this ends well. No reason whatsoever to ask for more on 3 days rest when he's due to hit in the bottom of the inning.

  8. Feeling better although the bottom of the Rockies order stinks to high heaven.
  9. Got a bad feeling Chacin will survive by the skin of his teeth for a couple innings and then implode too soon for them to have someone ready. I love the playoff plan overall but I'm not sure how many times Chacin has ever pitched on 3 days rest and I don't think this is a good time to find out how well he can handle it.
  10. Santana was the right call. No way of knowing what situations will come up later, so you gotta use one of the guys who's obviously not a pinch-runner or defensive sub. Facing an LHP, and with the Rockies' best relievers being RHP's (save Granderson), that's Santana. It was a good situation to use a good PH because the top of the lineup was coming up and it had a chance to be a big inning. Just wasn't meant to be. And it's not like Santana is that great anyway. A lot of people are acting like he's got everything figured out but it's an extremely small sample. You can't fear using the right PH in the right situation because you might have an even better situation to use him later.
  11. All these newfangled digital tv's kind of suck for sports. They still don't capture fast-paced action as well as the old CRT tv's because of refresh rate issues. That's why professional cinematographers and avid gamers still like the CRT's. Classic case of companies hyping new innovations that are worse than the old ones despite some catchy features. I don't care about all the vivid color and extremely high definition if it can't capture action. Wish they still made consumer level HD CRT's.
  12. If your definition of a questionable decision is one that might not work out, then sure. But the difference between managers was stark today and it was the players who nearly blew it. Colorado did obviously stupid stuff like bringing in an LHP for Yelich/Braun and pitching to Moose. I don't even want to know what some people think CC did that was a bad gamble (as opposed to just guessing wrong a few times) because I don't want to work with a headache all day.
  13. Totally. This idea that he burned his best PH at a bad time is ridiculous. Any inning can be a rally and the top of the order was coming up. And just because Santana has been good/lucky in a very limited sample lately doesn't mean he's all of a sudden good again. Complaining about that move is like talking trash to Michael Jordan when he misses a shot. All the Pete Myers here need to watch their mouths a little more.
  14. Lost in all the justified angst about the Brewers' offensive offensive execution (not a type-o) is that the Rockies look incredibly mediocre from a strategic decision-making standpoint. The Brewers aren't that much more talented but Counsell sure is.
  15. Couldn't have double switched, though. Would have pulled Hader out of the game an inning earlier. Yep, just realized that.
  16. How about we include Soria and go with The Four Horsemen? Or compromise and say The Four Frosty Horsemen? Why do I have the sudden urge to hit up a Dairy Queen?
  17. Though it may seem mathematically impossible, somehow the bullpen has done even less to not deserve multiple starts in the series.
