    I guess I'm not a fan of the "that interception was just like a punt" because I literally thought one of Rodgers' picks on Sunday looked exactly like that but then nobody tackled the guy and he returned it almost back to the original line of scrimmage. I guess punts get returned too but at least your special teams have a plan for how to cover a return instead of guys scrambling to compensate for an offensive mistake. Anyway, I'm mostly outside the debate you are having, I think a bad loss can simply be a bad loss so I suppose I'm more on your side of it. It's how they respond to this loss that will provide the context in the next few weeks, along with what the Saints will look like as well. New Orleans was a legitimate Super Bowl contender last season, just because Brees retired doesn't make their team terrible. I fell into that line of thinking as well even though I knew their defense has been pretty good for a while and they still have an offense that features Kamara. Brees really wasn't very impressive last season, it doesn't shock me that they're capable of having a really good day on offense, especially if Jameis Winston can play with this type of control and isn't just flinging the ball around willy nilly.

    I honestly don't know which team won the coin toss on Sunday, but if this is true they should never defer and always choose to receive the ball first when they have the option.

    I think you nailed it. If anything probably one of the biggest failures was the offensive line w/o Bakhtiari. Couldn't get the run game going, didn't really pass protect all that great either.

    It's difficult to tell what we should expect going forward. I think a lot of people underrated the Saints, myself included. They were a good football team last season with a really nice defense and they played really well today. Packers definitely laid a rotten egg though. Even if you had told me before the game started they'd lose I would have expected better than what we saw. I don't want to overreact to this loss but it's hard to not be very concerned right now.

    Lot of criticism of the defense so far but the offense hasn't exactly been inspiring either.

    How many hits did the Indians have tonight? That's what I thought. The Brewers just pitched a no-hitter. Yes it counts. If you choose not to acknowledge it, that's on you. But history will disagree. I think every one of us would have loved to see Burnes come out in the 9th. But the realist in many of us knew that wasn't going to happen. There was absolutely no way they were going to let Burnes pitch 130+ pitches. It just isn't the way the game is played anymore. The game has evolved. I'm glad you found a way to enjoy it. Seriously. I feel nothing, I can't even enjoy the win right now much less a combined no hitter because no hitters have just been rendered meaningless within the borders of this state. I've never been that impressed with combined no hitters anyway, they're not the same. They're nice in that your team likely won the game but not much beyond that.

    What I find ironic is a board full of baseball fans being apologists for being denied the experience most every fan dreams about. Yes we all want a World Series but that doesn't mean you have to compromise career and franchise milestones along the way because there's some perceived extra heightened chance a player could be injured. Any player can be injured at literally any time for any reason. It doesn't make sense to cave to fear, at least to me. A championship is as much about the journey as the culmination. Whatever, I'm just disappointed. I'll get over it. It sure makes me care less about Juan Nieves' no hitter because the Milwaukee Brewers franchise just told me by their actions it doesn't matter.

    And we're not allowed to find out if Corbin Burnes could be too. We are finding out. During this whole season. We're watching a lab rat in a highly controlled environment. Wheeeeee!

    If he leaves Burnes in to throw 130 pitches, and his arm is shot, the rest of us aren't going to be happy. Gotta be smart, and wearing out your ace in a relatively meaningless September game isn't the way to do it. I don't care about completely arbitrary pitch counts. If he goes out and walks a couple guys and proves keeping him in endangers himself and the lead then go get him.

    It's all situational. If he walks the first 2 guys in the 8th and is at 115 pitches I sure hope they would pull him. Sure if he has a stressful 8th then yeah but you have to give him the opportunity to not have it go down that way first.

    Lived in Wisconsin my whole life and that bugs me. If you are not going north, you are not going up. What if you live in the southern hemisphere? Maybe it doesn't matter but up is kind of arbitrary when you live on an oblate spheroid.
