  1. Having that bat in the lineup is huge. If they can only get a couple others going (Cain and Braun), they offense could really do some damage. Very true. I am looking forward to a day with Cain Yelich Hiura being our top three.
  2. Hiura is just getting comfortable with what he can do here. It's about to get real interesting watching him the rest of the year.
  3. Meanwhile Cubs pick up Maldonado to help out. Hello Mr. STEARNS!!
  4. Meek and mild. The reality is that you couldn't beat bad teams so this next three weeks is going to be a shock to the system. They are going to be 6-8 under by the deadline. It's a shame.
  5. What's the difference between Saladino and Nate Orf at this point? I mean they must really be sour on Hernan.
  6. Well Braves pen hasn't been great so let's see what we can do against them.
  7. I said it the other day when is the last time a brewers reliever had a drama free inning in a spot with the game still up for grabs? It's seems like weeks. The inability to just put together a 123 inning out of the pen is hard to believe.
  8. I'm probably one of the biggest Hiura boosters on this board, but he wasn't even in the minors two full seasons before being called up...pretty much all the other teams in baseball would have made the same call, and many would have kept him in the minors longer. What I disagree with was their decision to send him down after his callup and after it was obvious he belonged in the everyday MLB lineup. I agree with this actually. That's more of what I meant.
  9. If you take Hiura out of this lineup what the heck would u have? It continues to amaze that it took as long as it did to get the guy here. It's unbelievable. I can't believe any other team in baseball would have made the same call.
  10. This game could be over. The pressure will continue to mount each and every inning once they fall behind. The thing is you can't afford to fall behind and you can't protect a lead. How do you win?
  11. One of the most interesting things about this year's team is the separate tracks that Burnes and Woodruff have taken. Coming up I think they both were highly regarded top 100 prospects. Then Woodruff seemed to struggle a bit when given a shot. Burnes came in last year and was impressive early and both ended the season being lights out in the playoffs. This year they both are given spots in the rotation. Woodruff turns into the ace and an all star. Burnes gets crushed early gets sent down and has been a disaster from spring training on. He appears to be a lost cause this season. I for one thought that Burnes of the two would be the better pitcher. I had hopes for him to be a Sheets type starter with Woodruff perhaps being a Nelson clone if all went well. I have no idea how these two have gone so far in the opposite direction. With the strides that Woodruff has made if Burnes had become what we thought he could this team would be set for a stretch with high end starting pitching. Burnes failure is the single biggest negative of this season by far. What happened?? Any thoughts??
  12. Jackson instead of Burnes would have made for a better finish to this one. Unfortunate.
  13. Why would Braun take a front office role and cost himself several million dollars? I don't expect he will. It would be awesome if he could self reflect and say I'm overpaid and I'm going to hang it up. Not likely but would help jumpstart the rebuild.
  14. Get Braun to take a front office role. Free up the cash. Build around Yelich Hader Hiura and Woodruff. Maybe Davies. After that it's a mess. Cain deal only going to get worse.
  15. Ok, let's talk it out as a real life scenario. We place Chacin on waivers. Any team claiming Jhoulys Chacin owes him over $3.25M for the rest of 2019. Chacin has a FIP near 6 and an ERA of 5.18, and a WHIP of 1.50 for the season. Which contender is making that claim and picking up that tab? The sellers aren't going to, because that's just a waste of their money. Contenders are likely in the market for better options than that. Who is paying $3.25M for a 2 and a half month rental of that? The fact is people were shocked when Perez wasn't claimed. Teams are not blowing cash unless the guy moves the needle. Not sure Chacin does it for anyone to pay that money.
  16. I'm on board with this take however some of it was to be expected. Regression is a fact of life for guys like Chacin. If you think about it what was our pitching addition for the off season to help get us over the hump? There was none. Not one arm of any value was brought in to help. Even after Knebel went down. That's the shame of it. They didn't really ever give it a go.
  17. In other news David Gruber has a purple brewers shirt on in that commercial doesn't he??
  18. After Hader who is the Brewers best reliever? Claudio? Wow.
  19. A pitcher being allowed to throw 100 pitches. Is this the dead ball era??
  20. I respect everyone on this board and it's knowledge of the game. Does anyone still feel like this team as is should be taken seriously? Anyone? I remember the old Kimbrel and Kuekel debates. People actually thought we didn't need either of them and we are still waiting for something to happen.
