  1. I am excited about TGJ too. However, lets do the logical thing and start Hart and Mench.
  2. This team sure had been resilient. They bounce back well from losses.
  3. It's the 7th inning, play for one run. In other wordsBUNT!
  4. That last time through the order the Mets laid off Ben's curve. They left it up to ump to call it a strike. That didn't happen. I think the ump is calling the curve where it is caught and not where it is when it crosses the plate. If Ben can't get his curve over for strikes he is a rather average pitcher.
  5. We are on pace to win 113 games. That would be good.
  6. Our problem with the 7th inning is that we have Dessens, Spurling, and Wise in our bullpen. They are all mop-up guys. I think that another lefty in the pen would allow us to make moves as well.
  7. I thought Ned should have taken Spurling out of the game after the home run, and that Ned should have had a plane ticket to Nashville in his hand. JJ Hardy=Roy Hobbs
  8. This was a minor league trade. Nashville had too many catchers and needed outfielders. There are a million JD Clossers in baseball, we will be able to find another one or two if we want to this off-season.
  9. I am chalking this one up to just losing. This exposes the fact that we have two members of our bullpen that Ned is not comfortable with (Dessens and Spurling). I think that if Wise had not have pitched yesterday (this is not a criticism of Yost) then he would have pitched after Bay's double tonight. If not, he definitely would have been in after the first home run.
  10. I believe that we are 9-5 in our Central Division run. I think that this is going about as well as we could have hoped.
  11. I have the 12th post on a game-thread, and the game is 9 hours away. I think that a doctor would diagnose some Brewer Fever (and I don't think that the cure is more cowbell).
  12. Baseball teams lose games. I am not going to be overly concerned about today. This team tends to bounce back pretty well. I am a big Villanueva fan so I am not going to lose any sleep over Ben's groin. Unless it becomes a long-term injury.
  13. What was our bullpen plan today? I know that we didn't want to use Cordero or Turnbow. Maybe for tomorrow's game we give Coco the night off and designate Turnbow as our 9th inning pitcher, etc... I thought we wore Turnbow down last year and I have thought that we have worn Wise down every year. I hope that we can avoid that this year.
  14. If the Brewers were a high school team then Geoff Jenkins dad would be calling Ned after the game about Geoff's being pinch-hit for. Also, Greg Aquino's mom would call Ned and say the she would only want Damian Miller catching him because Johnny Estrada gives the wrong target. Finally, Kevin Mench's dad would be going around the stadium trying to get people to sign a petition to fire Ned.
  15. I thought that Ned's managing got a lot better after the first 26 outs.
  16. Greg Aguino is our new Luis Vizcaino. I heard Ned talking about liking his hard slider or sinker (I don't remember which it was) to get double plays. I think that is why he took Matt Wise out. Of course, a pitcher needs some command in order to induce double plays. Aquino is not as good as Vizcaino was. Ned is to baseball strategy what Bob Slowik was to Packer defensive coordinating. Will Capellan report (tomorrow)?
  17. I have been in favor of having Carlos in the bullpen. But Brettac makes a good point about garbage time. CV won't get the benefit of pitching in the majors unless he has important role which gives him predictable work.
  18. This is another day of fundamentally poor baseball. Those need to be rare in order to win a division title. If they continue, accountability is at the top.
  19. Every time there is a pinch-hitter or pitching change, it appears to favor LaRussa. So far it hasn't hurt us yet. I am just tired of us letting him determine the match-ups.
  20. It seems that in the past, when the Bucks had good teams, that you could not find their big games on TV or on the radio because of the Brewers. I remember not being able to find game 7 of a conference semi-final against Seattle because the Brewers were on the radio and the local TV station with the rights to the game had a telethon on. Now, when the Bucks are terrible and optimism abounds with the Brewers the situation is reversed on TV.
  21. The first 14 1/2 innings of this series has reminded us of all of our shortcomings from last year. Hopefully these problem games are the exception and not the norm.
  22. Ben is putting the ball in play this year. I think that he may get a couple of hits this year.
  23. Zambrano seems to be getting a big zone today. That doesn't help us any.
  24. I had forgotten how Dave Bush succeeded. He gives up a lot of runs in the first inning and then the other team's hitters swing out of their shoes for the rest of the game. Then his curveball becomes more effective. Did you see Dean Zaleski on TV?
