  1. Nix is picking up the slack for Bell.
  2. Turnbow is hearing voices in his head. I think he is a bit afraid of pitching. He just may not have the closer mentality. I think that hitters have begun to work the count more against him now. I can't believe that Matt Holliday hit a 97 mph fastball up in the zone out of the park. I think that the radar gun is on steroids., I don't think that he is throwing as hard as he was. It should be pointed out that another ump may have rung up Holliday and Torrealba (I know, it is a stretch) and then we would be talking about Derrick's great outing. Closers tend to have 9 lives. Turnbow may still have value down the road. For now, I am not sure what his role is.
  3. I like this move. Time to reward Turnbow for pitching better as of late. This is not a blow-put, but there is a margin for error. I think that he can become an effective pitcher again.
  4. Do they really think that they can double up Bell?
  5. We have 6 runs on 6 hits and 11 walks. Doesn't seem like enough. Bill Hall has drawn 4 walks. I think I see a flying pig outside
  6. How about letting Capellan get one more out? We are putting ourselves in a position where we don't have a closer tomorrow. I have a bad feeling about the 9th.
  7. I remember watching Clemens shutting out the Brewers recently. Oh yeah, it was 1988. I was at County Stadium. And he beat Ted Higuera.
  8. Matt Wise to DL. Laynce Nix is a Brewer.
  9. Prince is our professional hitter.
  10. I think that if we had any speed at all at second that Hart would have swung away. 13 pitchers are too many. Next year we better find a way that we can pinch run for our catchers at the end of games. You almost had to hit a double to score Rivera from second.
  11. Way to use the word confluence
  12. We have sat through this with Higuera, Eldred, and D'Amico. Sheets will end up being OK. One has to work out our way. Sheets just needs a spring training.
  13. I wonder what happens if a Cardinal tried to steal a base the way Bill Hall did.
  14. Did Ned really think that Doug would get a hit in that situation?
  15. It took Daron 4 innings before he mentioned David Eckstein tonight. I wonder if he is going to send a letter of apology to David.
  16. MA at the game tonight in my mind leads to my contention that heads are going to roll. Ned may have to buy his own plane ticket out of Pittsburgh.
  17. We need to invest in arms in the off-season. Not a shot at Matt Wise. Just a general observation.
  18. I smell a Geoff Jenkins waiver deal.
  19. Is Nevin now at 6 straight K's? If he puts one in play they should give him the ball.
  20. There will be a warning the first time a Cub hits the ground. It is not bias. It just seems that it is usually retaliation that gets warned. Rivera had the hardest hit ball of the inning. I am glad we were played Chad Moeller over him for a year and a half.
  21. Bases loaded and no outs. Why am I expecting a K and a DP?
  22. Corey Hart is getting the day off today as well.
  23. I think if he slides right that he is safe. I like the idea of having the game on FSN and WGN. When the play-by-play announcer starts bragging up the Cubs players too much I just switch over and watch WGN.
  24. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
