  1. We don't have to sweep this series. We just have to win most, if not all our remaining series.
  2. Take note Mark Attanasio, the natives are restless.
  3. There is too much talk about "sweep or bust". We have to win most, if not all, of our series'. It is amazing what can happen in a short period of time in baseball. We could lose the next 2 games to the Cardinals and still make the playoffs. It won't be easy, but it could happen.
  4. I think this interview with Ted Higuera is the first I have heard him speak in English. He always spoke through an interpretor.
  5. Can the Pirates be removed from next year's schedule? I have been comparing this season to 1988 since before it started and to some degree it has held up. This means that the Crew will tease us with a late run this year.
  6. If we would have used Helling tonight we couldn't hurt Bush's arm. This way Helling can be off for a long time and then pitch 4 games in a week and hurt his arm. Bush wasn't all that effective in his last relief appearance. Pitching in a game is different then throwing on the side. If They want to use him out of the pen because he is being skipped, why can't he have a little more rest first. I don't agree with that strategy anyways. With two starters coming off of the DL and with all the innings that Capuano has thrown this season I would think that an extra day of rest would be beneficial.
  7. When Bush goes on the DL later this season it is not because we are snake bitten.
  8. I just want to point out that we got kicked of New Orleans, Louisville, and Indianapolis just as they finished new stadiums.
  9. Using Bush as a reliever was another demonstration of Ned doing more Bob Boone-like pitcher handling. Bush was set up to fail.
  10. Today was a failure of the entire pitching staff. Turnbow's problems can not be considered a slump any more. He is no longer capable of getting 3 outs before the other team scores a run.
  11. We are not hitting, pitching, or fielding; but other than that we are doing fine (I wish I could insert circus music into this post).
  12. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!
  13. I think Capuano may have a little of a dead arm. A quick yank from a game, or an extra day off may be all he needs to get back on track. Unfortunately we need Cappy to soak up innings, and with our lack of days off combined with our pitching problems we can't give Cappy that extra day's rest. I think that Bill Hall is just about good enough to start for us.
  14. It seems like we have gone through this before. Ned has a tendency to fall in love with relievers with hard sinkers, and always gets burned. Everybody here knew that Winkelsas doesn't throw enough enough strikes to get out of a bases loaded jam. Is Jeremi Gonzalez hurt? I thought that he was the long man. My next comparison isn't exactly valid because neither of these starts were quality starts. Ned also has a tendency to follow certain starters with certain relievers. I can't remember who it was (maybe Bottalico) but the same guy kept blowing leads on Doug Davis. Now in JDLR's last two starts Winkelsas has allowed all of the baserunners he left to score. Winkelsas has allowed 6 extra earned runs to JDLR's total. Maybe next time somebody else can follow JDLR. Jose Capellan seems to be next to useless in games in which he enters early when we are behind.
  15. This game may be the catalyst of an outfielder for a pitcher trade. I don't think that it would be a blockbuster. I think it would be an Ohka-like trade. Dave Bush may have pitched Brady Clark out of Milwaukee.
  16. We did not need to use Turnbow with a 3-run lead to start the 9th. Kolb or Capellan could have finished that out. I don't want to see Turnbow get overused and become Bobby Thigpen. How many people thought that Shouse could get Howard out on back-to-back nights? I doubted that he could do it.
  17. JJ's ankle may be bad. I don't think you blame Sveum for that one because of the bare-handed play by Burrell.
  18. That run on a double steal brings back Molitor-Yount memories. I loved that.
  19. JDLR threw 3 innings 2 days ago. Shouldn't Ned have expected him not to be sharp?
  20. You would think that if Miller Park would be so tough to play outfield in, that the home team would be able to deal with it but the visiting team would make the errors.
  21. I am happy for Burnitz, but he could have waited a couple of days to do it. He now has 300 home runs on 300 hanging sliders. Damian had a terrible inning. I wonder how often he caught Jose this Spring?
  22. What a great day to be unemployed! GO CREW!
  23. Carlos is the youngest of our starting outfielders and is only 4 years older than Cruz. Because of Nelson's age I am a little worried that his stats were aided by his maturity. I am sure that is why Beane was willing to let him go. He may end up being an Alex Ochoa type of player in terms of productivity. I don't figure him into the longterm plans as a fulltime player just yet. I don't think we are going to see as many significant changes for 2006 as we have had the last couple of seasons. If we are contending in July I think that Carlos will be extended, if we are floundering he will be traded to free up $ for future moves.
  24. Let me reiterate, "DON'T SAY IT"
  25. I haven't read every post in this thread so I hope I am not being repetitive. I wonder how many flyball outs vs. ground ball outs the Brewers get, and how it compares to other teams. I think we get more flyball outs than most teams, thereby reducing JJ's ability to make plays.
