  1. Knoth is now full-go off of the mound and slated for a normal spring training. He is one of the numerous talented hurlers returning from injury in 2026 in what is, objectively, the deepest system of young pitching in the sport.
  2. I have continued to pass along the heartfelt sentiments shared within this community to the individual close to Frank which they greatly appreciate. There’s not a ton of new info to update at this point and he has not been able to speak quite yet, but he is walking more and more each day which, of course, is a fantastic sign!
  3. More positive news to share from the individual close to Cairone: - Making good progress - Attempted to speak yesterday for the first time since the accident - Moving around in bed without much issue - Stood up for the first time today
  4. Debated on whether to put this in the offseason news or transaction thread (I propose perhaps a separate thread for non-transactional injury news and questions that I/others can try to answer?), but I’m happy to share something positive to get our baseball minds briefly off of more serious things that have had our attention in recent days- RHP Jack Hostetler made some throws today for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer. He should be on track to return to game action late in the 2026 season, but, of course, that timeline is very fluid at this point.
  5. With the blessing of someone very close to Frank Cairone, I was asked to share this with our community in order to set the record straight from some of the disgusting stories (AI-generated for the most part) that have been put out: “If anything he would want everyone to be reassured that he’s doing okay and not some fake news that’s spreading around.” Frank and a passenger were hit head-on by a vehicle that ran a stop sign. The passenger is awake and suffered less severe, but still significant injuries and is currently recovering in the hospital as well. As for Cairone: ”… the bleeding in his brain stopped and they are just waiting for the swelling to go down, but keeping him on medicine, decreasing it every day until he wakes up so he’s not so confused (when he wakes up). Yesterday, the doctors said they are very optimistic, and how they think he’s going to have (a) full recovery, it’s just going to take time. He’s already ahead of the game, breathing on his own and moving around a lot. He was also starting to open his eyes just a little bit. (We) just need our boy to wake up. I know that he couldn’t wait to go back to Arizona. I really hope he gets back to himself and back on the mound one day!” I will forward any other updates here (aside from those put out by the Brewers organization) that this individual shares with me (with their continued permission).
  6. Latest update was that he was med flighted to Atlantic City Medical Center on Friday night.
  7. It should be noted that the few tributes and obituaries (I saw at least three of which) were all posted 5-10 hours before the Brewers statement and so the organization’s update(s) are the only source one should trust at this point.
  8. Former #Brewers farmhand LHP Nick Bennett recently underwent Tommy John surgery and has accepted the position of Assistant Pitching Coach at Kent State University. It appears that the southpaw will continue to rehab in hopes of returning to the mound at some point while also getting some coaching experience under his belt.
  9. Merry Christmas to all!
  10. The Yankees love them some Brewers farm system products. C Payton Henry is the third former Milwaukee prospect to sign with New York this week.
  11. Speaking of the Yankees, 1B Ernesto Martinez, Jr. is also headed to the organization as he inked a MiLB deal with an invite to big league camp next spring.
  12. Longtime farmhand RHP Alexander Cornielle has signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees.
  13. Victor Estevez will not return to the Brewers coaching ranks in 2026. He has accepted a position in the Washington Nationals organization after managing the Timber Rattlers the past two seasons. He joined the Milwaukee organization as an infield coach in the DSL for the 2013 campaign.
  14. Is Frelick a reserve outfielder? I think Lara could develop into his profile of a high-average (maybe not quite .300), 5-10 HR profile and that is perfectly fine for an above average starter on a good team. Oh, and Lara is a better defender than Frelick who already has a GG to his name.
  15. LHP Adam Seminaris, part of the trade (with RHP Janson Junk and RHP Elvis Peguero) that sent Hunter Renfroe to the Angels, has signed a minor league deal with the Phillies for 2026. The southpaw spent the ‘25 campaign in the Mariners organization; 3.02 ERA in 125.1 IP with their AA affiliate.
  16. My mistake, from the player himself- Ruben Guillon Academy had their client’s name wrong in multiple places 😬 Vasquez it is!
  17. Here’s what I have for you so far (not much)… the name is actually Jesus Vazquez and he has been signed out of Ruben Guillon Academy in Venezuela. 6’0” 160 lb, he currently tops out in the low 90’s.
  18. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything more for you on the signing. I’ll update if I learn anything else in the coming days!
  19. Confirmed today. Hearing that it was an age-related issue, perhaps a falsified birth certificate. He was slated to receive a $300k bonus from Milwaukee, he will get a $275k signing bonus from Detroit, instead.
  20. From what I’ve heard, the organization wants nothing to do with you as soon as you test positive for something and, especially for someone that the team has a minimal investment in, probably not a good idea to risk taking a banned substance. Urena missed the entire ‘25 season serving a 56-game suspension for a failed drug test- Stanzolol.
  21. 2B Dylan O’Rae has been cleared and will be reporting to the Arizona Fall League squad today after missing the entire season with a wrist injury.
  22. 2B Dylan O’Rae has been cleared and will be reporting to the Arizona Fall League squad today after missing the entire season with a wrist injury.
  23. Old friend Garrett Cooper is hanging up the spikes after 13 years. A tremendous career that included an All-Star nod!
  24. RHP Josh Knoth, recovering from early January TJ surgery, is back to throwing from 90 feet and is on track for essentially a normal offseason. He is one of many young hurlers returning from injury to follow in the system next season (Galindez, Broughton, Cortez, Prado, Jaquez, etc).
  25. Ernesto Martinez’ 2025 MiLB season is over. He was placed on the Development List earlier this week and is no longer in the states as he will be playing for the French Men’s Senior Team competing for the Baseball European Championship. Colin Walsh (Ireland) and Noah Zavolas (Greece) are also set to compete.
