  1. This is the best news ever! Please be quick Charter! I'll be happy if we get the second half of the season in HD.
  2. I also think Fielder will be the better player, but it has more to do with his age than with his performance thus far. He definitely needs to show he can keep up his high level of play for a couple more seasons and even improve it a little to be where Howard's at. Ryan Howard Year Age AB HR 2005 25 312 22 .288/.356/.567 2006 26 581 58 .313/.425/.659 2007 27 529 47 .268/.392/.584 CAREER 1461 129 .291/.397/.610 Prince Fielder Year Age AB HR 2006 22 569 28 .271/.347/.483 2007 23 573 50 .288/.395/.618 CAREER 1201 80 .280/.369/.546
  3. RBI triple for Cameron! Man, this guy is HOT! I hope the suspension doesn't cool him off...
  4. No one wants it to be winter. Unless it gets warmer, it will still be winter and even it it's not, it's still going to be cold.
  5. I hope you're not seriously judging the guy on 7 atbats... maybe if he struck out every time there'd be a tiny, little, small, itsy bitsy concern, but he's only got one strikeout and if 7 atbats is an indication of success then Austin Kearns (.000 OPS in 8 atbats), Delwyn Young (.200 OPS in 8 atbats), Miguel Tejada (.182 OPS in 11 atbats), Moises Alou (.000 OPS in 10 atbats), Vladimir Guerrero (.286 OPS in 7 atbats), Brian McCann (.286 OPS in 7 atbats), David Wright (.258 OPS in 11 atbats), etc. are in a lot of trouble this year!
  6. I hate this lineup! I heart Braun http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. I still really like the idea of obtaining Kenny Lofton, especially as a centerfield/2 hole fill-in during the first month of the season. But there really isn't room for him with Gross on the roster. I wonder what we could get for something like Gross, a starter (Bush?) and a fringe minor league prospect (Jackson?)...
  8. I've been toying around with the idea of getting my first tattoo over the past few days, but I haven't found anything that I would actually want to have permanently inked onto my body. So I've been playing around with some of my own designs and I just had to share this one with you guys! Haha! http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/6562/rallyrabbitls5.jpg Might not be best suited for the bicep, maybe on the back or something, but I kind of got a kick out of it! Anyone else got any tattoos or stories or suggestions?
  9. Newsies. Oh wait... that kind of 'musical' guilty pleasure... It's gotta be New Kids on the Block for me... yeah, I'm pretty messed. http://apennycloser.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/newkidsontheblock.jpg
  10. Milltown, Doug Melvin said exactly what you just said too last week in one of his interviews on WTMJ- when you compare Bush's stats to Blanton's. I think that is why I think Bush is a shoe-in for the rotation if you can read between the lines of what Melvin is saying. I agree Blanton is a nice pitcher, but giving up a Votto would be overpaying. So I guess the next question is, what about a Bush for Votto swap? Would Cincinnati trade within the division? Are they actually willing to give up Votto for some solid, yet mediocre, pitching? It would make for a pretty crowded outfield, but it would add another left-handed bat and allow for a Braun - Hart - Votto outfield until Cameron gets back. Deepens the bench afterwards, giving Fielder a legit backup at first, and makes for some nice trade pieces in the middle of the season. Just a thought.
  11. You'd almost have to hit him leadoff though. Otherwise, you'd have the pitcher's spot coming up after your leadoff guys for the rest of the game. So it's probably only worth it if you have a pitcher that's better at getting on base than your actual leadoff hitter. However, it would be cool seeing a guy like Kieschnick get 80 or so starts in a season!
  12. The real Michael Jackson that had his identity stolen by this "Jacko" character that we all know way too much about. http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40780000/jpg/_40780769_faceearlyjacko203.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/e48356394d329853d94d48ba17e56b589c0a0ec.jpghttp://hitdawall.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/mugshot__michael-jackson_11.jpg
  13. Just a reminder, as I posted in another topic earlier, here are a couple ways to contact Charter about a channel request: Last year, I sent Charter an email requesting information on adding FSN HD in Madison and they replied with this: You can also submit a channel request online:http://www.charter.com/Visitors/ContactUs.aspx?contactus=6 Edit: I just found this phone number, which may be the best way to contact them about it: Hopefully with the amount of games being broadcast in HD this upcoming season, there will be enough interest generated for Charter to add the channel. So take a couple minutes out of your time and send a request if you're interested!
  14. Rick Vaughn, "Wild Thing" Hands down the best closer/song duo in baseball history.
  15. I like Koskie. I don't know if it's a good idea (as Hall's head might explode), but with Koskie in the fold, you could start the season with Hall in center and Koskie at 3rd and then have some options once Cameron comes back.
  16. Here's a summary of the outfield situation with these guys: Career Splits 3-Year Splits -vs- R -vs- L Overall Player Age B/T AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AB/BB AB/SO $$$ 2007 Brewers LF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 261/318/453 14.05 4.65 2007 Brewers CF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 275/334/457 11.50 3.98 2007 Brewers RF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 267/329/474 12.09 5.67 Player Age B/T AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AB/BB AB/SO $$$ LF Gross, Gabe 28 L/R 260/350/434 093/269/167 255/351/437 6.80 4.09 0.398 LF Mench, Kevin 30 R/R 255/310/420 305/361/563 266/318/445 13.88 8.72 ARB CF Hall, Bill 28 R/R 262/310/461 270/350/484 272/335/495 10.49 3.79 4.800 CF Gwynn Jr, Tony 25 L/R 257/307/320 280/308/280 260/307/315 14.29 5.13 0.390 RF Hart, Corey 26 R/R 270/315/486 313/389/544 284/340/506 13.54 4.76 0.392 LF Johnson, Kelly 26 L/R 263/363/447 267/353/405 264/360/435 6.82 4.22 PRE-ARB RF Francoeur, Jeff 24 R/R 265/302/431 317/361/545 280/319/463 20.39 4.86 PRE-ARB From what I can tell, both of them have another year until they hit arbitration. And FWIW, Soriano is in his last season of arbitration and Boyer may have 2 more seasons before he hits arbitration. Subtract Sheets' and Hall's contracts and we've got some serious doe to play with this year. If it's even questionable that we can sign Sheets long term, you make this trade and you hope you can use some of that freed up cash to bring in a legit starter to re-stabilize the rotation.
  17. I posted a large comparison of outfield possibilities in another thread, but here's the part that pertains to this discussion: Career Splits 3-Year Splits -vs- R -vs- L Overall Player Age B/T AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AB/BB AB/SO $$$ 2007 Brewers LF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 261/318/453 14.05 4.65 2007 Brewers CF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 275/334/457 11.50 3.98 2007 Brewers RF's ** 2007 TOTALS ** 267/329/474 12.09 5.67 Player Age B/T AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AB/BB AB/SO $$$ LF Gross, Gabe 28 L/R 260/350/434 093/269/167 255/351/437 6.80 4.09 0.398 LF Mench, Kevin 30 R/R 255/310/420 305/361/563 266/318/445 13.88 8.72 ARB CF Hall, Bill 28 R/R 262/310/461 270/350/484 272/335/495 10.49 3.79 4.800 CF Gwynn Jr, Tony 25 L/R 257/307/320 280/308/280 260/307/315 14.29 5.13 0.390 RF Hart, Corey 26 R/R 270/315/486 313/389/544 284/340/506 13.54 4.76 0.392 Player Age B/T AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AVG/OBP/SLG AB/BB AB/SO $$$ LF Scott, Luke 30 L/R 276/364/534 259/372/431 273/366/516 7.21 4.12 ARB He may not be the low strikeout guy Melvin's looking for, but he definitely can take a walk and carries an excellent OBP. Couple that with his contract situation and I think he'd be the ideal player to pick up to play leftfield and hit in the two hole. If you trust Gross in center, I would play Hart full time in right, Scott in left and a Gross/Hall platoon in center could be very effective. Or a rotating outfield with Hart in center and Gross in right against righties and Hall in center and Hart in right against lefties could work also if you're comfortable with that. Also, Mench still hits lefties like mad and could spell Scott against some tough southpaws.
  18. Okay, so I had 4 9-game packs this season and the email I got today said I could get 4 tickets for each of the first two rounds of the playoffs... When I went to order, I was only allowed to get 2 tickets per playoff series. What's the deal? Did I misinterpret the offer???
  19. After a quick look at his recent games, Braun's been averaging almost exactly 4 PAs a game for awhile now. At that rate, he'd have 10 more plate appearances than in my previous post and could go .446 (33/74) to end up with a .338 "qualifying" BA. He would still have to get ridiculously hot, but I guess it's possible *cross fingers* http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. twobrewers -- I was thinking the same thing. Didn't Captain Lou do that in the minors a couple years ago to win a batting title? Right now, the batting leaders are C. Utley (.338, but may fall short of PAs as well), E. Renteria (.335), M. Holliday (.331), C. Jones (.330), H. Ramirez (.329) and D. Young (.328). If he can throw in empty atbats to qualify and he averages 3.5 PAs the rest of the season (70 additional PAs for 481 total and 22 short of qualifying). At his season pace, he will have about 64 ABs in those PAs. Adding in an 0-22 to get him enough plate appearances, he will have to hit .516 (33-64) the rest of the way to have a .338 "qualifying" BA or, similarly, .500 (32-64) to have a .336 "qualifying" BA. So I think it would take a great finish for Braun to win the title, but let's hope he does and carries us into the playoffs as well!
  21. If the third player was someone from the minors like Jackson, I would do that trade in a heartbeat! It would setup a great backend of the bullpen for this year with Turnbow, Linebrink, Cordero, and... Cordero, allowing Gallardo and/or Villanueva to stick in the rotation (at least until Sheets gets back). We could also then let CoCo and Linebrink walk for draft picks at the end of the season and still have a nice setup/closer situation with Wise/Turnbow and Cordero next year.
  22. This game is addicting! I finally made it through all the rounds! You can really start racking up points for the Milwaukee team in the final round as you just score as many points as you earn in 10 throws. So what's everyone using as their screenname in this? I'm Atrain and have a high score of 22101 so far.
  23. Do it. Considering I think Gallardo and Villanueva have to be in the starting rotation by the beginning of next season, Bush will have to go anyways and this is a great return.
  24. How is this a positive for Braun? Wouldn't being in the middle of a much better offense inflate his stats compared to the other two players? By the way, I vote Braun at this point because I'm a homer, but I think all three teams got tremendous players.
  25. I'm not sold that it's BS... I think it's totally plausible that he was trying to be a good guy and walk her home. The rest of what happened really needs a more detailed explanation before you can assume he was totally at fault. If you and a girl are walking down the street in the middle of the night, why would a stranger randomly approach you and act like he knows the girl you're with? The stranger must have had some background knowledge of the girl or at least the situation. At that point what's the difference between him leaving her with someone he thought she knew and all the other girls bars allow to leave their premise with unknown "strangers". It's an unfortunate circumstance for the bar employee to be in at this point in time, but until we hear more to the story, I think it's rather unfair to place much if any blame on him. The real question is, why wasn't she with anyone else that could have taken her home from the bar?
