He threw to Ferguson on 3rd, he wasn’t open. Going back and looking at the reply he really had nowhere to go with it on 3rd. I think both of those were sucker looks to get Mertz to think a certain route would be open but after the snap the dropped a guy into the route.

I recently read an article about Major League umpires and that the younger guys consistently grade out better on calling balls and strikes and I'm sure it's somewhat due to vision and reflexes that diminish with age.

That should have been interference on the hitter. He stepped right onto the plate in front of the catcher.
