  1. 22-year old RHP Logan Henderson (1.35 ERA with 10 Ks in 6.2 High-A IP) is officially a AA pitcher and he’ll he throwing to C Andy Yerzy in his debut at this level. Biloxi (22-33) can snatch an improbable 4-2 series win at formidable Montgomery (32-24). RF Noah Campbell (.806 OPS) and 3B Mike Boeve lead a reinvigorated offense.
  2. Now Dylan O’Rae knocks in the first run of the game (Jadher Areinamo, who’d walked) on his second single. 1-0 T-Rats in the 3rd inning.
  3. Dylan O’Rae has stolen his 30th base of the season. It’s June 9th.
  4. No Wiemer. No Black. No Collins (shocked face emoji)? Hopefully no problem. AAA Nashville can also capture their home series 4-2 with a win over Louisville, backing impressive 25-year old RHP Chad Patrick (2.87 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 53.1 IP). C Francisco Mejia has a 6-game hit streak, including 4 two-hit games.
  5. High-A Wisconsin can clinch a 4-2 home series win over Quad Cities this afternoon behind LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (3.55 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 33 IP). 2B Dylan O’Rae has a 20-game on-base streak and LF Jheremy Vargas comes in with a nice little 5-game hit streak (1 homer, 1 triple, 4 doubles, 2 singles).
  6. Echoes of Willy Mays Hayes. Nice to see the Shuckers having a fun week:
  7. The High-A Timber Rattlers have 20-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (3.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 11.8 K/9 in 37.1 IP) starting tonight as they aim for a 3-2 home series lead against Quad Cities. Wisconsin is last in the 12-team Midwest League in home runs (25 in 55 games), but first in stolen bases (118).
  8. RHP Jakob Junis makes his 2nd rehab start for AAA Nashville, who can clinch this week’s series with a home win over Louisville. Yesterday’s walk-off hero LF Issac Collins (.912 OPS in 230 PAs) is right back in the 3 hole.
  9. AA Biloxi is having nip-and-tuck games in Montgomery this week, tied 2-2 in the series. 23-year old RHP Bradley Blalock (3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 43 IP) gets tonight’s pivotal start. A general power outage has the Shuckers team slugging percentage at .315 vs. the Biscuits’ league-leading .408 mark.
  10. RHP Yorman Galindez (3.03 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 14.6 K/9 in 29.2 IP) and the Low-A Mudcats need a win tonight in Charleston to claw back from a 3-1 series deficit. DH/SS Cooper Pratt has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games.
  11. And INF Luis Pena is obviously a gazelle: 9 stolen bases through 4 games...with a 1.159 OPS to boot (very sustainable)!
  12. Woo hoo! Wiemer walks and Isaac Collins brings ‘em both home with the walk-off double!!!!
  13. Thankfully Zamora walked, so we could at least get to Wiemer and maybe Collins. Fingers crossed. Mr. Sweet - we all appreciate Vinny Capra, but let’s not hit him leadoff please.
  14. Injury delay in Arizona after Eric Bitonti reaches on an error in the 4th inning. He exits in favor of Johan Barrios. Hopefully nothing serious. Our ACL team leads 6-0, with Enniel Cortez cruising along.
  15. Encouraging performance by Woessner - 1 run, 5 Ks in 4 IP. He’s done his job. Down 5-4 with 3 outs remaining, it’s up to Roller, Zamora and Capra to send the home fans happy.
  16. Miller got ahead 3-1, but K’d swinging at a low pitch. But Francisco Mejia golfed the first pitch he saw into left field for an RBI single. Then Hernandez grounded out. Nashville’s within 5-4, so will have to win it in the 9th inning. RHP Tyler Woessner is in his 4th inning of long relief.
  17. Collins (HBP) and Clarke (single) have reached in the bottom of the 8th inning with 1 out for the Sounds, trailing 5-3. Can Miller or Mejia come through?
  18. Too bad Anfernny Reyes was that jittery for his full season affiliate debut. 3 walks, 1 HBP and he gets pulled. Cristopher Carrasco then walks the first batter he faces. Ugly bottom of the 8th inning. But Carrasco gets the ground ball back to him for the final out of the frame. Only 2 runs came across. Mudcats lead 7-4. Get it done, men.
  19. 10 ACL Brewers’ hitters came up in their 6-run 2nd inning, punctuated by a (rehabbing) Felix Valerio 2-run triple. That’s a nice 6-0 cushion. Now for some solid pitching.
  20. The ACL Brewers and ACL Reds have agreed to play 7 innings tonight. RHP Enniel Cortez had a solid 1st inning (1 single, 2 Ks) and I hope he throws at least 5 frames, because I don’t want to rely on well-rested Prado, Mogollon or Meneses (sorry all) to close it out once we grab the lead.
  21. Sounds trail 5-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning, but have 2 aboard (Capra infield single, Wiemer walk) with nobody out. Collins, Clarke, Miller and Mejia can turn this game around now.
  22. After a 3-run homer chased starting RHP Will Rudy with Wisconsin trailing 4-0 in the top of the 4th inning, RHP Jake Polancic walked 3 of 5 batters faced before leaving after an injury delay. If Polancic goes on the shelf, that’ll reduce Wisconsin to 13 healthy pitchers. Time to call up Aidan Maldonado and Yorman Galindez in my opinion. Could call up Jeferson Figueroa too, though he’s basically a coach at this point. The Timber Rattlers trail 6-0 and have 1 hit through 4 innings. Big comeback required.
  23. High-A Wisconsin can also grab a 3-1 series lead at home over Quad Cities behind RHP Will Rudy (5.87 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 6.6 K/9 in 38.1 IP) tonight. 2B Dylan O’Rae’s on-base streak is now 18 games. I think it’s worth plugging last night’s Mehring/Lobner podcast again, during which they rave over Jadher Areinamo’s defense, pronounce Werhle like “girlie” or “burly” and tell us that K.C. stands for Kyle Clemente.
  24. DH Mike Boeve (6-for-8 yesterday) is indeed back in AA Biloxi’s lineup despite leaving yesterday’s nightcap with apparent hamstring discomfort. What a relief! RHP Brett Wichrowski (4.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 in 33.1 IP) gets the ball, as the Shuckers aim for a 3-1 series lead in Montgomery.
  25. The AAA Sounds lead this week’s home series with Louisville 2-1 and one must imagine the clubhouse is buzzing after the promotion of RHP James Meeker and expected promotion of RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez by Monday. Starting RHP Taylor Clarke is already on the 40-man MLB roster and ramping up toward being a starter (7 scoreless innings over last 2 outings, throwing 50 and 64 pitches). 1B Tyler Black is sitting after exiting yesterday’s game at the start of the 8th inning - rut roh!
