  1. Vargas is hit by a 1-1 pitch, so Dylan O’Rae gets a second chance for a late inning clutch hit. No dice. He grounds to short for the 2nd time in 3 innings, this time for a game-ending force out. Good spirit, but it’s a loss. Credit the hitters with extending at-bats and Manfredi with K’ing 7 in 3 innings after giving up a solo homer to the first batter he faced (Wisconsinite Noah Miller).
  2. Welp. Ramon Rodriguez grounds into a double play. Then Terence Doston hits a first pitch solo homer. 9-8. 2 outs. Jheremy Vargas up to extend this thing.
  3. Jadher Areinamo starts off the bottom of the 9th inning with a single (3-for-4 on the day), so the next 3 T-Rats will get the chance to erase this 9-7 deficit.
  4. Bizarre T-Rats matinee. 3 homers and bad defense staked Great Lakes to a big lead (8-0) that they’ve now largely blown (8-7) via weak singles, walks, HBPs. Dylan O’Rae just had a bases loaded chance for a clutch hit, but grounded out on a 2-0 count to end the 7th inning. No minor league moves announced. Not even Haase for Sanchez. Blalock throwing tonight. He’s gotten great results, but has been lacking Ks.
  5. Singles from Ramon Rodriguez and Terence Dotson cut the deficit to 8-7. That’s 7 straight runs in 2 innings for Wisconsin without the benefit of an extra-base hit. Go Timber Rattlers!!
  6. T-Rats fell behind 8-0 despite Great Lakes being 1-for-13 with RISP. But now Wisconsin has scored 5 unanswered runs in the 6th and 7th innings to make things interesting, with 2-on, 2-out and C Ramon Rodriguez looking to keep the rally going.
  7. Bauers has a 4 BB / 26 K ratio. I doubt we’ll see him make many more starts. Maybe Ortiz or Turang should get some OF innings.
  8. High-A Wisconsin turns to RHP Patricio Aquino (6.23 ERA in 13 IP) as they need a home win to even their series with Great Lakes. SS Gregory Barrios leads the Midwest League in hits (27) and doubles (10).
  9. Two former Brewer minor leaguers have recently signed in the independent Frontier League: - RHP Anthony Perez (now 220lbs?) - Lake Erie Crushers - OF Arbert Cipion - New Jersey Jackals
  10. So what are we projecting? - no punishment for Peralta - fine for Murphy, but no suspension - umpire goes for sensitivity and de-escalation training - Uribe suspended 10 games, pleads down to 7 games - Siri suspended 5 games
  11. Nice to see Vieira have a solid inning - weak contact, no walks, 2 Ks, last pitch at 100.3mph.
  12. Blame Gary Sanchez’s hamstring (for making Kahle relieve Haase, which preceded the homer fest).
  13. Is today Daniel Guilarte cycle day? He seems to be figuring out this whole baseball thing. Go Mudcats!
  14. Thanks, but I doubt it. So so so young. I think Juan Baez and Gregory Barrios will both be allowed to flourish at their current level this season (similar to Luke Adams last year), with 2025 being more of the “push” year. Of course this is mere speculation.
  15. Baez is going to lead the Carolina League in hits and outs on the bases this year. Nobody will be within 10% of his marks.
  16. Oops. Thanks! I think I’d better go back to my work mails - definitely better at that and it pays the bills!
  17. There’s likely more! Friday’s starters for Biloxi and Wisconsin are both listed as TBA, while LHP Mark Manfredi’s conspicuously absent from the schedule. Gotta figure Manfredi and Yorman Galindez are both moving up. This should be an awesome week across the organization!
  18. I hope Wes Clarke magically returns this week. That’d help. Fingers crossed. Prayers sent.
  19. - RHP Tyler Woessner appears headed to AAA Nashville from AA Biloxi, based on Nashville’s media notes for today
  20. Nashville’s media notes for today list Tyler Woessner as their projected Thursday starter. Woo hoo!!!
  21. High-A Wisconsin is also home this week, facing a battle against Dodgers’ affiliate (and fellow league leaders) Great Lakes (14-7). 23-year old LHP Tate Kuehner (7.71 ERA with 12 Ks in 7 IP). LF Luis Lara and RF Eduarqui Fernandez both have 6-game batting streaks.
  22. The AAA Sounds host Orioles’ affiliate Norfolk this week, with LHP Robert Gasser (4 IP, 1 ER, 5 Ks last week) starting tonight on the now-customary 5 days’ rest. LF Isaac Collins has a 7-game hitting streak, including homers in his last 2 games.
  23. Low-A Carolina hosts Royals’ affiliate Columbia, with 18-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (3.77 ERA in 14 1/3 IP) starting tonight’s opener. 1B Tayden Hall had 6 hits in his last 2 games and carries an 8-game hitting streak.
  24. - INF Tyler Rodriguez promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers1 We should be seeing a dozen or more such promotions in the coming days, as the ACL season starts May 4th. Rodriguez only hit .200 last year and didn’t play any shortstop or center field, but his 19 BB / 14 K ratio, .218 BABIP, 2 HRs and 9 SBs may suggest a potentially better hitter.
