  1. OF Joey Wiemer optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers
  2. That’s a tough loss. Well done TJ Shook and James Meeker. Great second half Shuckers!!
  3. Rehabbing RF Blake Perkins struck out swinging in the first inning and was then apparently replaced for an injury. Sounds trail early 2-0, as Boushley conceded 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks in the bottom half of the inning.
  4. AA Biloxi needs a home victory over Montgomery tonight to fend off elimination and essentially force a one-game playoff qualifier tomorrow. 25-year old RHP TJ Shook (2.70 ERA in last 26.2 IP) starts this mega-contest. CF Jackson Chourio has hit safely in 23 of his last 24 games.
  5. The AAA Sounds seek their 7th win in a row, starting five hitters from the MLB 40-man roster (Mitchell, Perkins, Ruf, Miller, Jones), plus red-hot 3B Tyler Black (hitting .448 in last 11 games, with 11 RBIs, 11 walks, 10 runs) and yesterday's 2-homer man CF Chris Roller. RHP Caleb Boushley (4.86 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 126 IP) gets today start at Charlotte.
  6. I doubt we'll see O'Rae start 2024 in Appleton, given his age and relatively limited time at Carolina. I'd only expect Sibrian (re-sign), Chirinos, Adams, Areinamo, Guilarte, Avina and Hedbert Perez to get the immediate promotion to High-A. Early 2024 promotions of Luis Castillo and/or Dylan O'Rae to High-A Wisconsin may be contingent on players like Mendez, Lara and/or Eduardo Garcia earning a promotion to AA ball, in my opinion.
  7. The Shuckers kept their playoff hopes alive with today's convincing 9-2 win. They face another elimination game tomorrow, with RHP TJ Shook the scheduled starter. Expect Jeferson Quero to catch after resting today, which presents a conundrum as each of Wes Clarke, Brock Wilken, Ernesto Martinez and Zavier Warren are mashing and should ordinarily play. I guess Clarke or Wilken will rest against Montgomery's righty starter, then pinch hit late.
  8. I'm taking solace in seeing the Cubs' affiliate, Myrtle Beach, with the top regular season record in the Carolina League at 75-55, getting mauled at home 18-2 to also bow out of the playoffs.
  9. Great job to the Mudcats, getting back into the series after losing a tough opening game at home. Battled back tonight to tie it late, even taking the lead in the top of the 10th inning, but couldn't hold it. Loaded the bases in the top of the 11th inning, but couldn't muster a run across. Great season to the team. Hold those heads high!!!
  10. They wanted to bunt him over, Yerlin Rodriguez pitched high to counter and it went to the back-stop. Runner advances to 3rd. Next batter grounded to SS Barrios, playing in. Runner stayed put. One out. And then they walked it off with a fly out to right field, beating the throw home. Dumb Manfred. Dumb. Shoot!!!!!!!!!
  11. That's tough. Such a big advantage for the home team in this ghost runner system. Opposition scores one or more in the top half, don't bunt. Opposition doesn't score in the top half, bunt him over. Silly
  12. Down East gets a 1-out, game-tying base hit up the middle, with O'Rae's throw home allowing the batter to get to 2nd base. 3-3. Gulp.
  13. Here's that Luke Adams game-tying 8th inning homer. They're now in the 10th inning, trying to steal one on the road.
  14. Tobias Myers gave the team 100 pitches over 6.1 innings, striking out 8 while conceding just one earned run. Shuckers lead 9-2, now batting in the bottom of the 7th inning.
  15. Two walks, then RBI doubles from Tyler Black and Chris Roller push the Sounds lead to 8-1 in the 8th inning.
  16. Luke Adams homered!! Woo hoo!!! 2-run shot and we’re tied in the 8th inning!!!
  17. Eric Lauer got up to 92.6 last inning, now 92.8 and 93.8 in his 4th inning of work. Allowed 6 hits and 1 run, no walks, 3 Ks. Sounds lead 5-1 going into the 7th inning.
  18. C Wes Clarke hit his 26th homer for Biloxi, a 2-run shot to push the lead to 8-1 in the 5th inning. That pushes him past Willy Adames for the franchise lead in 2023. Willy - go homer against the Nationals.
  19. Offense could have used Chirinos (injured) there. Need to keep it 2-0, then have Avina to come through in the 7th inning.
  20. OF Chris Roller hit his second homer of the game for Nashville, who lead 5-0 in the 5th inning. He’ll be a free agent this offseason, who we’d likely try to re-sign. LHP Eric Lauer entered in the 3rd inning, but his velocity has topped out at 92.5mph thus far. He’s getting outs today, but I’m not sure he’s the answer for Chafin’s struggles.
  21. Unfortunately, this may be what you face when your opponent is 49-92. Thankfully, Henry’s been able to stay in. Let’s crush ‘em.
  22. Nashville’s off to a nice start: Winker single, Ruf RBI double, Miller single, Roller 2-run homer. 3-0 Sounds in 2nd inning.
  23. Rehabbing CF Garrett Mitchell plays his first game in nearly 5 months, as the AAA Sounds aim for a 9th win in 10 games. RHP Julio Teheran makes his 5th rehab start, trying to clinch a series win in Charlotte.
  24. AA Biloxi turns to Southern League strikeout leader RHP Tobias Myers (5.21 ERA with 160 Ks in 131.1 IP) to keep their slim playoff hopes alive at home against Montgomery. 3B Zavier Warren is hitting .410 with 4 homers in his last 11 games.
  25. The Low-A Carolina Mudcats play their biggest game of the season, a Division Series-deciding Game 3 at Down East, with RHP Yorman Galindez (3.88 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 in 55.2 IP) getting the start. SS Gregory Barrios (Guilarte late error yesterday) and 1B Tayden Hall (replacing injured Chirinos) join the lineup, and RF Luis Castillo again gets the nod over Nicasia.
