  1. Well that was nerve-racking in Tennessee. Luis Amaya and Zach Vennaro struggled to close out the win for Biloxi, conceding 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. The potential game-tying runs were on 2nd and 3rd base, but Vennaro gets the final K to preserve a 7-5 victory. Whew!
  2. And SS Eric Brown Jr. does more than just knock Wood home. He hits a clutch 3-run homer with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning. That’s Brown’s 3rd hit of the game. Wisconsin takes the lead 3-1! Win it!!!
  3. 3B Zavier Warren smacks a solo homer for a Biloxi insurance run (now up 6-2) and the Smokies manager gets ejected for the 2nd straight game. Keep it up Shuckers!
  4. They're 2/3rds of the way through Wisconsin's game in Beloit, with the good guys trailing 1-0. C Matt Wood leads off the 7th inning with a single.
  5. RHP Kaleb "Bo" Bowman makes his first appearance for AA Biloxi since a July 8 injury, retiring 2 of 4 batters with Biloxi leading 5-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning. LHP Nick Bennett is coming in to hopefully get the third out in this frame.
  6. The wheels fell off rather abruptly in Durham - 4 runs off Alex Claudio, 3 runs off Luis Contreras. Sounds trail 10-2...
  7. It was feast or famine for LHP Eric Lauer, who strikes out 8 Bulls in 4.2 innings pitched, but also conceded 3 home runs. Sounds trail 3-2 in the 6th inning. They're missing key opportunities: 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position Tyler Black grounded out with the bases loaded to end the 3rd inning Monte Harrison was thrown out trying to steal 3rd base to end the 5th inning
  8. For Nashville, 1B Jesse Winker grounded into a double play to end the top of the 1st inning, then immediately exited the game. With his 20-day rehab assignment ending tomorrow, that was likely either: His last plate appearance in the organization; His last plate appearance in the minors before a surprise reinstatement to the MLB roster on Sunday or Monday; OR A new injury which could extend his time on the MLB injured list
  9. In Aaron Ashby's first rehab outing, he throws just one inning: 18 pitches (9 strikes). After a ground out and two walks, he remembered he's facing High-A hitters and struck the next two batters out. RHP Tyler Woessner (4.14 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 in 111 IP) has come in the 2nd inning for long relief. Scoreless game between Wisconsin and Beloit thus far.
  10. Heckuva start for RF Lamar Sparks: 2 homers and 4 RBIs in the first 2 innings. Shuckers lead 5-0 in the 3rd inning.
  11. AAA Nashville have lost 5 of 6 games and look to LHP Eric Lauer (3.60 ERA with 32 Ks in last 20 IP) to turn things around. SS Cam Devanney has an 11-game hitting streak.
  12. The High-A Timber Rattlers have won 6 consecutive games and have rehabbing LHP Aaron Ashby starting tonight. INF Mike Boeve is absent from the lineup for a 3rd straight day.
  13. AA Biloxi has won 5 straight and has RHP Christian Mejias (7.00 ERA with 113 Ks in 106. 2 IP) starting at Tennessee tonight. 19-year old CF Jackson Chourio has a 12-game hitting streak with homers in 4 of his last 8 contests.
  14. Low-A Carolina is tied 2-2 in their home series against Down East and have stud RHP Logan Henderson (2.85 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 11.9 K/9 in 72.2 IP) on the mound. C Blayberg Diaz comes in with a 12-game hitting streak.
  15. A wild pitch scores a second run, double scores a third run. Down East 3, Carolina 0. Still nobody out. Mound visit. Costello stays in. This isn't looking good, as a loss would cut Carolina's advantage to just 2 games over Lynchburg with 8 games to play in the Low-A season.
  16. Ugh. A 9-pitch walk and single to center field start things off. C'mon Chase - find that mix and location! Next batter singles into center field as well. 1-0 Down East leads, 2 on, nobody out. Oh my.
  17. Still 0-0 and headed to the final scheduled inning of the day, as the Mudcats and Wood Ducks are a combined 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. RHP Chase Costello comes in to pitch the top of the 7th inning for Carolina.
  18. Patricio Aquino pulls off the Houdini act, escaping with no runs allowed despite having the bases loaded and nobody out: Ground ball: 6-2 force out at home Liner: caught by shortstop Ground ball: 4-6 force out at second base. We're headed to the bottom of the 6th inning, still tied 0-0!!
  19. Smith walked one batter, but struck out two and got the final out on a line drive to shortstop. That's 6 wins in a row for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers!
  20. A 6-2 groundout gives Carolina a force out at home for the first out of this inning, still with the bases loaded. Aquino continues onto the next batter, now at 80 pitches.
  21. Patricio Aquino goes walk, double, walk to commence the 6th inning of this 0-0 game, but Manager Estevez keeps him in to face the next batter. Lets go Patricio!
  22. Back from injury for his first appearance since August 15, LHP Justin King throws a scoreless 8th inning in Beloit (K, fly out, K), but Wisconsin fails to make anything happen in the top of the 9th inning. Now RHP Shane Smith comes in for the potential Save, with the Timber Rattlers leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th inning.
  23. We didn't even move him to 3rd base (pop out, fly out, fly out). Carolina and Down East are scoreless going into the 6th inning of the second game of today's doubleheader, which is scheduled for 7 innings. Starting RHP Patricio Aquino is indeed staying in.
  24. The second game of today's Carolina-Down East doubleheader remains tight: 0-0 through 4 1/2 innings, but C Jose Sibrian leads off the bottom of the 5th inning with a double. Bring him home, gentlemen! Starting RHP Patricio Aquino is only at 63 pitches through 5 innings - will he continue? Carolina 0, Down East 0 thus far.
  25. Lazar walked one, but closed out the victory with two ground outs. Final: Biloxi 4, Tennessee 3. Elsewhere, Montgomery was rained out, so Biloxi and Montgomery are now tied as they battle for a playoff spot with about 2.5 weeks remaining in AA ball.
