  1. AA Biloxi is also shooting for a 2-0 series lead, at home against Birmingham. RHP Christian Mejias (6.59 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 82 IP) gets tonight’s start. 2B Isaac Collins is tied for the 2nd-highest OBP in the 8-team Southern League.
  2. RHP Alexander Vallecillo (4.02 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 10.9 K/9 in 31.1 IP) makes his 8th start (11th appearance) for Low-A Carolina, which aims for a 2-0 series lead in Columbia. 1B Jesus Chirinos has hit safely in 12 of 13 games.
  3. AAA Nashville looks to double its series lead in Norfolk, with Hortonville native RHP Caleb Boushley (4.65 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 in 89 IP) getting the start. LF/INF Josh VanMeter has a 5-game hitting streak with 5 hits and 12 walks in the games.
  4. Yeah, pretty funny. I figured he should make a bee-line run directly at the lead runner, then throw to whichever base that runner tries to get to. Yay Rattlers!
  5. Cool thing to me is that Monasterio actually bet on the Brewers. Signed a second minor league deal this past offseason despite all the competition for even AAA playing time. Here’s what I’d written earlier on him: It’s nice to see Monasterio’s bet on the Brewers paying off. A minor league depth addition last year, he was crowded out from AAA Nashville in June 2022 and bumped down to AA Biloxi for nearly 2 months. He finished the season with Nashville, then played two months of Venezuelan Winter Ball, racking up 160 plate appearances by late December. In the meantime, he re-upped on a Minor League deal with the Brewers on December 20 despite knowing he’d be battling Turang, Toro, Owen Miller, Devanney and Dorrian for AAA playing time. And we also added Eddy Alvarez on that same December 20, then Josh VanMeter shortly after. Monasterio just turned 26 years old in May and I hope he has a long, successful MLB career ahead of him.
  6. Megill can be optioned, Mejia can’t. So it’s safer to option Megill and wait on Mejia to see what happens at the trade deadline.
  7. RHP Shane Smith covers 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Rattlers win 8-7 after trailing 7-0 early! Smith is putting together a very fine season - 60 Ks in 40 IP, sub-1.00 WHIP, 2.25 ERA. Keep it up!
  8. That’s literally the last thing I expected to happen. Holy cow, Tyrone!
  9. That’s a terrific 4 1/3 innings for RHP Miguel Guerrero, in 56 pitches (2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks) - exactly what the team needed after the starter didn’t make it out of the 1st inning. 7-7 in the 7th inning now, with RHP Michele Vassalotti pitching.
  10. Gulp. Wagoner walked 3 of the first 5 batters and didn’t make it out of the 1st inning. We trailed 7-0 by the 2nd inning, but are now giving the home fans something to cheer for with 5 find in the bottom of the 2nd inning on an array of singles, walks, an error, catcher’s interference. Good game re-set.
  11. 3B Eduardo Garcia returns from injury, as High-A Wisconsin looks for a home win over Cedar Rapids to tie the series 1-1. RHP Cameron Wagoner is ready to build on one of his best performances of the season (5 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 5 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 8Ks in last outing).
  12. Thread will be utilized for any minor league news Wednesday, lineup updates, etc.Organizational Scoreboard including starting pitcher info, game times, MiLB TV links, and box scores
  13. Hot corner with Jeff Hem, featuring C Brian Navarreto - 5+ minutes of baseball discussion and spicy chicken
  14. INF Abraham Toro recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville (replacing injured Jesse Winker)
  15. Thanks. Yeah, I was assuming that hot bats Miller, Martinez and Ward could go up to AA Biloxi, while taking advantage of several open roster slots at High-A Wisconsin. But now that we've gotten Eduardo Garcia and Eduarqui Fernandez back today, the math admittedly gets trickier. I'm thrilled with Lara's contact and balls out hustle on the basepaths. Areinamo's the smooth defender who's also hitting now. Adams is feasting on Low-A pitching. I guess Chirinos can stay down. And maybe swap Jheremy Vargas and Daniel Guilarte, since this seems like an excellent opportunity for Guilarte to play some High-A shortstop. Surplus infielders can always rotate through the outfield like Turang and Black did last year...
  16. INF Eduardo Garcia activated from High-A Wisconsin's 7-day injured list OF Eduarqui Fernandez activated from High-A Wisconsin's 7-day injured list
  17. I assume Hiura’s crowding the plate moreso of late: 10 HBPs over his last 20 games, not including yesterday’s when he was hit, the umpire failed to call it and insult was added by being ejected from the game.
  18. Since RHH OF/INF Jahmai Jones was called up on July 16 instead of switch-hitting INF Abraham Toro, Toro has gone 17-for-36 with 8 doubles, a homer and 10 RBIs. Toro was getting some solid results at the time, so this surge is not much of a surprise. And no, I don’t expect it to continue into August. Sucks to miss out on these little AAAA-player hot streaks (like Hiura in April, Singleton in May, Alex Jackson in June). They usually only last about 3 weeks, but they’re worth tapping into.
  19. That's a respectable day with 3 full season affiliate wins, but it's also Wisconsin's 4th straight loss and they were 1-hit. I suggest we be bold and push a slew of players up to High-A: Adams, Lara, Guilarte, Areinamo, Chirinos, Sibrian. They all deserve it and don't seem to be challenged enough in Low-A, in my opinion.
  20. …and just like that, we have a truly respectable stable of young pitchers: - RHP Enniel Cortez - 5/1/06 - RHP Eric Prado - 11/11/05 - LHP Justin Chambers - 8/14/05 - RHP Josh Knoth - 8/10/05 - RHP Manuel Rodriguez - 8/8/05 - RHP Hayden Robinson - 7/12/05 - LHP Bjorn Johnson - 1/11/05 - LHP Anthony Flores - 10/21/04 - RHP Bishop Letson - 9/15/04 - RHP Daniel Corniel - 7/7/04 - LHP Osbriel Mogollon - 4/1/04 - LHP Anfernny Reyes - 2/23/04
  21. Wisconsin hosts Twins' affiliate Cedar Rapids this week, with starting LHP Nate Peterson (2.98 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 42.1 Low-A IP) making his debut in High-A ball. 1B Ernesto Martinez (1.080 OPS in in 76 PAs) and LF Je'Von Ward (.993 OPS in 47 PAs) are both having a big month of July.
  22. AA Biloxi hosts White Sox affiliate Birmingham this week, with RHP James Meeker (3.48 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 8.6 K/9 in 54.1 IP) making his 6th start (22nd appearance) tonight. Red-hot hitters this month include CF Jackson Chourio (1.124 OPS in 65 PAs), DH/3B Tyler Black (1.096 OPS in 68 PAs), 2B Isaac Collins (1.067 OPS in 65 PAs) and RF Lamar Sparks (1.000 OPS in 56 PAs).
  23. Low-A Carolina plays at Royals' affiliate Columbia this week, with 19-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (4.29 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 56.2 IP) starting the opening game tonight. Each of DH/1B Jesus Chirinos (1.314 OPS in 50 PAs), 3B Luke Adams (1.023 OPS in 62 PAs) and LF Jace Avina (1.013 OPS in 47 PAs) are having a terrific July.
  24. AAA Nashville plays at Orioles' affiliate Norfolk this week, with RHP Jason Alexander (4.24 ERA with 9 Ks in 23.1 AAA IP) getting the start in the opener. 3B Abraham Toro has had extra-base hits in 6 consecutive games and has an 1.154 OPS in 74 PAs in July.
