  1. - RHP Bradley Blalock assigned to High-A Wisconsin from Low-A Carolina - C Jesus Garcia assigned to AAA Nashville from ACL Brewers
  2. Not that it matters, but I forgave the Game 1 loss since we only struck out three times in that game. This one’s not excusable though. They put the ball in play when it mattered. We didn’t. We still only K’d 5 times in today’s terrible loss, but three of them came at the worst possible time. Put pressure on the other team to make plays.
  3. - SS Eric Bitonti (3rd round draft pick) assigned to ACL Brewers - SS Cooper Pratt (6th round draft pick) assigned to ACL Brewers
  4. Re-thinking this 18 hours later, I'm guessing that we fully expect to protect McKendry. He's younger than Janson Junk and has better numbers than him. Knowing how much we value catching depth, I'm not sure we'd have made that trade unless we think highly of McKendry. This feels somewhat similar to the Mark Mathias and Owen Miller acquisitions in the past. Is McKendry likely to be selected by another organization? Perhaps not, as his K numbers don't jump off the charts and he's sporting a 4.00 ERA. However, we're really lacking young AAA starting pitching at the moment, so we may not risk the 10% chance of him being selected.
  5. With Miley starting for the Brewers tomorrow (and Chafin arriving via trade), along with Woodruff and Anderson appearing in decent form for AAA Nashville today, it looks like we'll probably add 4 players to the 26-man MLB roster shortly: Two tomorrow (Miley, Chafin) - likely for Megill, along with Toro or Perkins Two in a few days (Anderson, Woodruff) - likely for Toro or Perkins, along with maybe Mejia
  6. LHP Adam Seminaris (first game since May 17) is getting a rehab start for ACL Brewers. There are no debuts (Bitonti, Pratt, Adamczewski) in the starting lineup. I’m guessing that OF Duncan Garcia is dealing with a minor injury, as we’ve not seen him since he exited a game early 8 days ago.
  7. After winning the opening game of today’s pseudo-doubleheader, the Mudcats and Woodpeckers come right back at it for a 7-inning Game Two battle, with 20-year old RHP Jesus Rivero (2.73 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 13.7 K/9 in 26.1 IP) making his first-ever Low-A start.
  8. AA Biloxi plays at Marlins’ affiliate Pensacola this week, with Game 1 featuring a face-off between 20-year old RHP Eury Perez (2.36 ERA with 61 Ks in 53.1 MLB innings) and 19-year old CF Jackson Chourio, two of the top prospects in baseball. 24-year old RHP Christian Mejias (6.41 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 9.8 K/9 in 87 IP) gets the start for the Shuckers.
  9. AAA Nashville hosts Rays’ affiliate Durham this week and welcomes 2 rehabbing Brewers to today’s game: starting RHP Brandon Woodruff and 3B Brian Anderson. C Alex Jackson was just traded to the opposing dugout a few minutes ago, so there will be at least one pre-game lineup change.
  10. Wisconsin plays at Cubs’ affiliate South Bend this week, with LHP Nate Peterson (2.91 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 10.7 K/9 in 46.1 IP) getting his 2nd start in High-A ball. C Matt Wood comes in riding a 13-game on-base streak.
  11. Alexander Vallecillo covered 4 1/3 innings today, giving up 3 runs as the quiet offense coughed up the lead 3-2. But Jesus Chirinos tripled and scored in the bottom of the 5th inning to re-tie the game 3-3. Yes, we’re the “home” team in this 7-inning contest in Fayetteville. RHP Chase Costello is pitching now.
  12. The first game of the day features the Low-A Mudcats and Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville playing the remaining 6 innings of a game suspended after one inning on July 9 with Carolina leading 2-0. 21-year old RHP Alexander Vallecillo (3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 35.1 IP) got the call to continue from the top of the 2nd inning.
  13. Maybe this will free up space for a Quero move to AAA. Let’s see
  14. - LHP Eric Lauer assigned to AAA Nashville from ACL Brewers - RHP Brandon Woodruff’s rehab transferred to AAA Nashville from High-A Wisconsin - 3B/RF Brian Anderson sent on rehab assignment to AAA Nashville - LHP Bennett Sousa’s rehab transferred to AAA Nashville from ACL Brewers - LHP Adam Seminaris sent on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers
  15. Thank you @RedStickBrew for the kind words and support! It’s a real pleasure to contribute to the community that’s brought together here. It’s a particularly exciting period now with likely promotions across the system.
  16. At 6’2”, 210 lbs, we’re probably thinking/hoping that Boeve will be able to tap into some power - e.g. 15 homers a year. On Wilken, maybe there’s no need to rush him to High-A Wisconsin.
  17. Transactions: RHP Justin Jarvis (who had been at AAA Nashville) traded to New York Mets for OF/1B Mark Canha RHP Jake Cousins (who had been at AAA Nashville) claimed off waivers by Houston Game Action: Arizona Complex League Action Final: ACL Brewers 7, ACL Rangers 6 Box Score / Game Log Our hitters in Arizona came through, taking the lead for the fourth and final time in an exciting walk-off victory which improves the team’s record to 21-19. 2023 first round draft pick 3B Brock Wilken (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBIs) knocked in the winning run with an RBI single after the team had loaded the bases with nobody out. In equally exciting news, each of Wilken and 2023 second round draft pick DH/INF Mike Boeve (2-for-3, HR, walk, HBP, RBI) hit their first home runs in the Brewers’ system – a solo shot for Boeve to take a 2-1 lead in the 3rd inning, then 2-run blast for Wilken in the 5th inning to tie the game 5-5. The top five spots in the lineup came through early and often, with 2B Dylan O’Rae, Boeve, Wilken, SS Juan Baez and 1B Yeison Perez combining on two home runs, a triple, four singles, six RBIs and six runs scored. Despite giving up six runs, the mound work was actually encouraging, save for 17-year old starting RHP Manuel Rodriguez (4 2/3 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 10 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks) understandably struggling when pushed to work what ultimately became a four-run 5th inning for the Rangers. Never fear, as 19-year old LHP Anfernny Reyes (3 1/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 Ks, 1 WP) helped the team escape that 5th inning by stranding two inherited runners via a strikeout, then dominating for three more frames during which the Brewers re-took the lead at 6-5 on an RBI groundout off the bat of C Alejandro Rodriguez (debut game for the undrafted free agent – 1-for-4, RBI). For the Rangers, 2023 fourth overall draft pick OF Wyatt Langford was a one-man wrecking crew, singling in two runs in that 5th inning and scoring shortly thereafter, then hitting a solo homer off RHP Gerson Calzadilla (1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K; season ERA 0.85) to tie the game 6-6 in the top of the 9th inning. Dominican Summer League Action Final: DSL Brewers-2 Squad 2, DSL Brewers-1 Squad 0 (in 7 innings) Box Score / Game Log The Brewers obviously have strong confidence in second-year, 18-year old RHP Bryan Rivera, giving him his 9th start of the season. On this day, Rivera delivered his best start (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks; season ERA 4.28), getting the better of 17-year RHP Eric Prado to earn his first official win of 2023. For his part, Prado was respectable in defeat: 4 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks, 1 WP as his season ERA lifted to 1.50. At the plate, DSL Brewers-2 grabbed the game's only runs in the top of the 3rd inning, with C Freider Rojas (1-for-2, SB) singling, stealing second base and scoring on a Filippo Di Turi (1-for-3, RBI; season OPS .800) ground out, then DH/UT Pedro Ibarguen (2-for-3, RBI; season OPS .776) following with an RBI single. Let's hear it for relief pitchers 19-year old RHP Yeferson Tales and 18-year old Lenin Mendez, who combined on five scoreless innings with 5 Ks with no walks. And the catchers both came through defensively, throwing out 4 of 5 attempted basestealers - two each for Rojas and C Yannic Walthier. Finally, center fielder Yophery Rodriguez went 0-for-3 with a K (season OPS .924), but did throw out a runner on at second base. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. 18. In Rookie League action on Monday, newly-drafted Brock Wilken and Mike Boeve each hit their first home runs in ACL Brewers’ walk-off win. Bryan Rivera also pitched DSL Brewers-2 to victory over DSL Brewers-1. 19. Brock Wilken hits his first homer in the Brewers’ organization, a 2-run shot to tie the game 5-5 in the 5th inning. Young Manuel Rodriguez was roughed up for 4 runs in the top half of the inning against the likes of 4th overall pick Wyatt Langford.
  20. DH/INF Mike Boeve was hit by a pitch in the 1st inning and now hits his first homer as a Brewer (solo shot to center) to give the team a 2-1 lead in the 3rd inning. 3B Brock Wilken has K’d twice thus far.
  21. In the ACL Brewers’ game tonight, 23-year old undrafted C Alejandro Rodriguez is making his organizational debut in 104 degree heat. 17-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez is the starting pitcher, making his 8th appearance of 2023.
  22. I think I understand why we saved our best pitchers for the non-Braves games. Let’s Go Brewers!
  23. After experiencing the 2014, 2020 and 2022 trade deadlines, I’m happy to see us acquire two guys who appear to qualify as “bat-first” players. Fangraphs rates Canha’s defense as a negative, so maybe we won’t actually be seeing him much in the outfield. In that case, I assume that Toro will get the boot back down to AAA, since CC obviously isn’t a fan of Toro’s 3B/2B defense. We’ll see.
  24. RHP Jake Cousins (who had been playing for AAA Nashville) claimed off waivers by Houston
  25. Final: DSL Brewers-2 - 2 runs; DSL Brewers-1 - 0 runs The Brewers obviously have strong confidence in second-year, 18-year old RHP Bryan Rivera, giving him his 9th start of the season. On this day, Rivera delivered his best start (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks; season ERA 4.28), getting the better of 17-year RHP Eric Prado to earn his first official win of 2023.
