  1. Patricio Aquino kept up Logan Henderson’s Saturday scoreless work, Jadher Areinamo doubled and scored in the 7th inning and Yerlin Rodriguez closed it out impressively. 1-0 Mudcats take the continuation game for a 4-1 series lead. Sunday’s game will follow.
  2. I guess we’re not shy about openly advertising: - Help Wanted: Clean Up / Designated Hitter Let’s go Wade & Co.!
  3. 5 and 1/6th innings to play to complete yesterday’s 0-0 game:
  4. I figure we’ll pick whichever of Troy, Shaw or Taylor happens to be available at #18.
  5. Rowdy may also be back mid-month, right? So Taylor and Tellez will likely bump two players from MLB roster just after the All-Star break.
  6. Wisconsin is also knotted 2-2 in their home series against Beloit, with RHP Cameron Wagoner (7.36 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, 6.6 K/9 in 58.2 IP) making his 16th start. 20-year old 3B Jheremy Vargas (.664 OPS, with 28 BB / 33 K ratio in 187 Low-A PAs) makes his High-A debut with Eric Brown Jr. and Eduardo Garcia out injured.
  7. 3B Tyler Black (.928 OPS in 285 PAs) is back for his first action since leaving Tuesday’s game early, AA Biloxi needs a win to grab a 3-2 series advantage in Pensacola. Can RHP TJ Shook produce a 2nd straight fabulous start (6 scoreless innings, 1 hit, no walks, 11 Ks in last game)?
  8. AAA Nashville seeks a home win over Columbus for a 3-2 series lead, with Hortonville native RHP Caleb Boushley getting the start despite throwing 188 pitches over the past 10 days. CF Tyrone Taylor has a 1.059 OPS in 6 rehab starts.
  9. More likely $120k/month, with Milwaukee owing him zero if we cut him. He’d been fully released when we signed him, so anything we pay him likely reduces what Boston owes him. Unless I’m missing something.
  10. RHP Logan Henderson (3.23 ERA with 43 Ks in 30.2 IP) gets the start for Low-A Carolina, who aims to extend their 3-1 series lead at home against Fayetteville. 18-year old CF Luis Lara has the top OPS in the lineup (.816). OF Luis Castillo is absent from the lineup after exiting yesterday’s game one inning early.
  11. Speak of the angel - Juan Baez smacked his first homer of 2023 in the 1st inning of today’s game. 2-run shot.
  12. - RHP Abner Uribe recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville - RHP Jason Alexander activated from 60-day injured list and optioned to AAA Nashville - C Alex Jackson of AAA Nashville suspended for his part in Thursday’s brawl (George “Punch Thrower” Valera got 6 games) - RHP Tyson Miller designated for assignment - RHP Jake Cousins sent on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers
  13. LHP Thomas Pannone is headed back to South Korea on a $350k deal. Good luck to him over there!
  14. 17-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez was getting the job done once again in the ACL before two, 2-out infield singles rattled him in his 3rd inning of work - predictably then leading to walks and runs. His line will end up looking mediocre, but he’s just 17 and learning.
  15. Another big-time double play helps the Mudcats’ cause, this time in the 9th inning and started by Yerlin himself! And he gets the next batter to ground out. Mudcats hold on to win 6-5!
  16. Bukauskas did enough to pin down the win. Sounds 5, Clippers 3. Sounds survive and WIN despite 3 ejections on the day, including Robert Gasser after just one inside pitch. Two Sounds got hit by pitches later, with no drama. Luis Contreras with 3 huge scoreless innings. Skye Bolt 4 RBIs. Luis Urias with a homer. Series tied 2-2.
  17. Yerlin Rodriguez pulls a Houdini: ground ball out, intentional walk, GIDP. Whew! Mudcats still lead 6-5, with one more inning to go. Big-time help from Jadher Areinamo there:
  18. JB Bukauskas is trying to close out a 5-2 win here in the 9th inning for the Sounds. He’d better, since he’s probably the last pitcher available. However, the Clippers have started the inning with two singles. Bear down, JB!!
  19. After allowing all 4 batters to reach this inning in a futile attempt to throw more than 60 pitches, Childers finally exits on that last double. 72 pitches, 32 strikes. 6-5, still nobody out. Yerlin Rodriguez is in now…wish he’d started the inning.
  20. Mudcats lead 6-3 in the top of the 8th inning, but Will Childers inability to throw strikes tonight is finally catching up with him and there’s apparently no reliever to save him. Bases loaded, nobody out. Gulp.
  21. Shuckers are out-hitting the Blue Wahoos 11-8, but can’t get the key hit(s), so trail 8-3. We’ve stranded 8, they’ve stranded 2…that’s how it goes sometimes. Campbell, Collins, Murray and Lutz each have 2 hits through 6 innings. Even with 6 extra base hits, we still just have 3 runs.
  22. Sad to see Strzelecki lose all confidence and control. Claudio will attempt to clean up his 7th inning mess. Sounds lead 5-1, but the bases are loaded with one out.
  23. Getting a LOT of Biloxi road video and quite pleased:
  24. Gasser’s pitch was a (blue font) smidge inside, with everyone already on edge after yesterday’s brawl.
