Sun. 7/13: Wrapping Up the Pre-All Star Break Schedule
Ro Mueller replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
AAA Nashville can clinch a series win at Durham and LHP Bruce Zimmermann aims to continue his solid 5-game run (1.73 ERA in last 26 IP). Will DH Daz Cameron homer for a 3rd straight game? -
The High-A Timber Rattlers have lost 4 straight at home to South Bend. RHP Tanner Gillis makes his 2nd start since returning from injury (2 IP, 0 R, 1 K in 32 pitches last week). Despite being last in scoring in the Midwest League, 3B Jadher Areinamo (95) and 1B Blake Burke (92) rank 1st and 3rd in hits.

- RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez sent on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers -
That DSL Gold game ended up being rather exciting (as far as box score watching goes). They led 5-1 much of the way, had 3 errors to allow 4 runs to score, then won it in the 9th. Alexander Frias delivered a 2-out, 2-run hit for a 7-5 lead. But he exited with the game 7-6, a runner on third and 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. Hope he’s okay. I don’t think I’ll be posting lineups tonight. In transit with awful internet. Enjoy the games!

Mitch White has been throwing well (2.90 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 in 80.2 IP) for SSG Landers in Korea, as they battle for a playoff place. -
Transactions: LHP Nestor Cortes’ rehab assignment transferred to High-A Wisconsin Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 3, Durham 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Stallings' Quality Start Helps Sounds Tame Bulls Preparation + Opportunity = Garrett Stallings Seemingly thrust into a spot starting role on a Need basis on June 8, the soon-to-be free agent keeps getting the job done and is now notching some Ks to boot: 6 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 6 Ks. He's only tossed 46 1/3 innings thus far in 2025, but the 2.91 ERA and 0.82 WHIP become more meaningful with every start. On the third pitch of the game, OF Daz Cameron (2-for-4) took a step in his road back to the Show: 109.8mph, 402-foot homer: C Jorge Alfaro and DH Jeferson Quero form one of the best AAA catching tandems, combining on a 4-for-9 evening with a double and 2 RBIs (both with 2 outs): Sounds’ Extras: Solid work from RHP Craig Yoho (1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks), LHP Bryan Hudson (0.2 IP, 0 R) and RHP Joel Payamps (1 IP, 0 R, 3 Ks – 97.4mph peak) locked it down, despite the Sounds stranding 6 baserunners over the final 3 innings. Friday’s outlook: After a solid 19-game run (3.52 ERA in 94 2/3 IP) in his first Major League opportunity, RHP Chad Patrick finds himself back in AAA due to the return of Woodruff and rise of Misiorowski, looking to lead Nashville to a 3-1 series lead. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Birmingham 5, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Kuehner Ties Career-High with Six Innings in Shuckers Loss to Barons Starting LHP Tate Kuehner delivered a solid start (6 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 4 H – all singles, 1 BB, 4 Ks – 82 pitches), but had to work a bit harder due to a 2-out, 2-run error in the 3rd inning and two bunts in the 4th inning. Playing in his 73rd straight game, 1B Zavier Warren continued to climb the Southern League leaderboard (season and career, undoubtedly) with his 2-run, 4th inning blast. His 54 RBIs this season are one short of the league leader’s 55. The Shuckers loaded the bases with 1 out in the 6th inning and later earned back-to-back walks to open the 8th inning, but left all 5 baserunners stranded, with C Matt Wood (rough day) an unfortunate strikeout victim in both innings. Shuckers’ Extras: DH Mike Boeve had a 2-for-4 day, while RHP Bo Bowman and LHP Mark Manfredi (2 Ks) both produced 3-up, 3-down innings in relief. Five of the first 6 batters reached base (including a catcher’s interference) against RHP Zach Peek in the 8th inning, but he came back to induce a ground ball double play to limit the damage to 3 runs. I see no reason to fault 2B Adam Hall for his 3-error game, as he’s been a full-time outfielder for the past year. Hopefully Cooper Pratt (last played on Friday, July 4) will return to action very soon. Friday’s outlook: Impressive RHP Tyson Hardin (2.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 in 80 1/3 IP) is scheduled for his 16 start of 2025, with Biloxi needing a victory to counter their 3 consecutive defeats. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: South Bend 12, Wisconsin 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, more game details: Rattlers Drop 12-3 Decision to South Bend Despite a third straight loss at home in this series, Wisconsin’s fabulous media team continues to put together video highlights: Please also catch the 21-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring rehabbing LHP Nestor Cortes (4 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks). Cortes’ second rehab start went as smoothly as the first, only conceding 2 infield singles amongst the first 12 batters faced, before ending his outing with a single to left and two line outs. His 54 pitches were 17 more than his last outing. RHP Jaron DeBerry (4 IP, 7 R, 9 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks) entered with a 2-0 lead on the back of OF Hedbert Perez’s 10th homer of 2025 and registered two outs to start each of the 5th and 6th innings before conceding 3 runs in that 5th inning and a homer in the 6th frame (and 7th too). Timber Rattlers’ Extras: C Blayberg Diaz’s 3 hits (including a double) from the 9th spot in the lineup give him 7 hits over his last 4 games. 1B Blake Burke’s 2-for-3 evening with a double and a walk lifted his AVG to .311 and OPS to .836. 3B Jadher Areinamo’s streak of 3 consecutive 3-hit games came to an end in an 0-for-4 day (0 Ks), but he’s still hitting .300 on the season with a .828 OPS. Friday’s outlook: 19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 32 IP) is scheduled for his 4th start since returning from a 2-month injury, having tossed 3 scoreless innings in 35 pitches five days ago. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 4, Fredericksburg 2 (in 5 innings) Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Big Inning Lifts Mudcats to Victory RHP Travis Smith enjoyed his first professional Win last week so much that he decided to grab another: 5 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 1 BB, 7 Ks. Batting 8th in this game, DH Gery Holguin is starting to figure out the Low-A Minor League level, doubling and scoring in the bottom of the 3rd inning and also moving the line along with a 1-out single in the 4th inning. SS Luis Pena (1-for-2, 2 RBIs) brought him home for the game’s first run: But of course, the big hit was 1B Eric Bitonti’s Carolina League-leading 14th homer: If the rains had postponed this contest, our full season affiliates would be sporting a 2-9 record this week, so we’ll gladly count the 5-inning victory in full. Mudcats’ Extras: LHP Bjorn Johnson pitched to 2 Nationals in the top of the 6th inning, garnering a strikeout and conceding a double before rains halted the contest. Apparently, that was enough for Johnson to earn his 3rd save of 2025. Jesus Made is away from the club, representing the organization at the MLB Futures Game in Atlanta on Saturday. Friday’s outlook: 19-year old RHP Jayden Dubanewicz (2.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 6.7 K/9 in 47 1/3 IP) is scheduled to start, as Carolina aims to even the series 2-2 with a victory. Final: ACL Brewers 8, ACL Reds 4 Box Score and Game Log Thanks to @sveumrules for an assist with summaries of the three Rookie games: Top of the order – rehabbing 2B Josh Adamczewski (two singles, walk), OF Handelfry Encarnacion (HR, double, two singles) and SS Jorge Quintana (HR, single) – propelled the ACL Crew to an 8-4 win with OF Engel Paulino (double, walk) and OF Jadyn Fielder (double, stolen base) also chipping in. RHP Tyler Renz allowed three runs with 6 H | 0 BB | 3 K over 5.1 IP to start things off and RHP Ayendy Bravo finished with three innings of 1 R | 4 H | 0 BB | 3 K work for his first save of 2025. The game was 8-3 by the 4th inning, allowing the Zona Crew to cruise from there and boost their record to 26-24. Final: DSL Brewers Blue 5, DSL Padres Brown 1 (in 7 innings) Box Score and Game Log Blue won 5-1 to improve to 15 W – 12 L on the season. SS Moises Polanco homered (the first of his career) & walked while OF Carlos Done doubled, with RHP Carlos Galindo going 4 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 5 K to run his record to a perfect 4 W – 0 L. 17-year old RHP Brailin Aguirrez of the Dominican Republic got the start in his professional debut (1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K), while RHP JC Rodriguez tossed 2 scoreless innings to finish the game. Six different Brewers collected a hit apiece, with 1B Angel Gonzalez going 1-for-2 with a walk and C Yoneiker Lugo producing a 1-for-2 day with a sacrifice fly. Final: DSL Brewers Gold 4, DSL Cubs Blue 1 (in 7 innings) Box Score and Game Log Gold prevailed 4-1, inching closer to .500 at 12 W – 16 L. RHP Jose Arias handled the bulk of the pitching with five innings of 1 R | 2 H | 2 BB | 2 K work while 3B Juan Martinez (single, two doubles, stolen base) and DH Eryks Rivero (single, triple) provided most of the offense. 1B Jonathan Rangel also singled and walked twice to keep that OPS north of a thousand. The game was 2-1 through 5 innings, in part due to back-to-back caught stealings of Gold runners in the top of the 5th inning. A 6th inning double from Martinez, RBI single from Rivero and RBI single from OF Nicolas Barrios (1-for-3, SB) gave the Golden Men some breathing room. 17-year old RHP Enrique Velasquez was the team’s starting pitcher, delivering 2 scoreless frames with a strikeout. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, we’ve got the customary 7-game MILB slate, starting with the DSL squads (Blue hosting Red Sox Blue, Gold playing at Astros Blue) at 10:00am CST. Carolina has a 5:30pm CST start and the Milwaukee Brewers host the Nationals at 7:10pm CST, while the ACL Brewers host the ACL Padres at 8:00pm CST. LHP Tate Kuehner (2.82 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 in 76.2 IP) seeks his third straight Win, which the AA Shuckers need to avoid a 0-3 series hole at home against Birmingham, who’s sending out MLB.com #38 prospect LHP Hagen Smith. This is 1B Zavier Warren’s 73rd consecutive game. Find that and more amazing stats in Biloxi’s game notes.

Strange day. Timber Rattlers out-hit their opponents by a combined 20-11, but lost by a combined 9-5. 4 hits for Lara, 3 each for Areinamo and Alastre, 2 each for Murray and Restituyo. Bladimir also homered. 4 earned runs off Middendorf in the 8th inning doomed Biloxi, while 2 errors led to 2 unearned runs to hurt Wisconsin.
