  1. 6’4”, 22-year old RHP Travis Smith (3.60 ERA, 5 Ks in 5 IP) makes his 3rd start for Low-A Carolina, who seek a 3-1 home series lead over Delmarva. Tyler Rodriguez gets his first career MILB start in center field after Braylon Payne and Demetrio Nadal exited the past 2 games early.
  2. Transactions: INF Oliver Dunn optioned from MLB Brewers to AAA Nashville (not official) INF Caleb Durbin promoted to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville Game Action: Final: Nashville 5, Charlotte 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Score Early and Hold On Late in Win Over Charlotte Outside of a 2nd inning bases loaded double play, starting RHP Carlos Rodriguez (4 2/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 1 WP, 7 Ks) largely cruised through 4 innings before yielding some 5th inning damage. In all, he reached the century mark (100 pitches, 56 strikes), exiting with a 5-2 lead with an assist from RHP Easton McGee (stranded two baserunners). Despite being outhit 9-6 and only going 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position, the Sounds’ offense was powered by 4 extra base hits, including solo homers from DH Wes Clarke (1-for-3, BB) and OF Jared Oliva (2-for-3, 2 BB, SB). McGee stayed in after a leadoff 6th inning single deflected off of him, allowing one run and stranding two more. RHP Vinny Nittoli also allowed a run and stranded 2 baserunners in the 7th inning, handing a tight 5-4 game to LHP Tyler Jay (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K, first save) for the final two frames. Sounds’ Extras: 3B Raynel Delgado reached base 3 times (single, 2 BB), scored a run and contributed an RBI. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. (1-for-4, BB) also contributed an RBI double. C Anthony Seigler’s mini-funk continued with an 0-for-5 day to drop his average to .152 (small sample warning). Friday’s outlook: Rehabbing RHP Tobias Myers gets the ball, looking to prove he’s ready for a return to Milwaukee, as Nashville aims to clinch a series win. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Birmingham 4, Biloxi 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Rodríguez Smashes First Homer of the Year in Shuckers Loss to Barons Biloxi’s 3-game win streak came to an end despite outhitting the Barons 6-4, undone by grounding into 3 double plays, committing 2 errors and allowing 4 stolen bases. RHP KC Hunt was solid through 5 innings (2 runs, 2 hits, 7 Ks) before the first three batters reached base in the 6th (walk, 2 singles), with LHP Brian Fitzpatrick stranding one baserunner for Hunt as part of 2 scoreless innings of work (0 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks). The first 10 Shuckers were retired in order before a OF Luis Lara (2-for-3, BB) single in the 4th inning and C Ramon Rodriguez (2-for-3) solo homer in the 5th frame. Shuckers’ Extras: Kudos to RHP Chase Costello for a 2-K, 3-up, 3-down 9th inning. For the game, the team went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Friday’s outlook: 24-year old RHP Coleman Crow starts Game 4 of the series, representing his first official baseball action since April 2023 with AA Rocket City, as injuries have limited him since. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Lansing 4, Wisconsin 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Wisconsin Comeback Thwarted by Lansing Wisconsin may have come out on the short end of this tight loss, but their wonderful media team have us covered with video highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYH4bj-_uVc And don’t forget to listen to the insightful 15-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, including comments from Brewers’ Director of Player Development (and Acting Wisconsin Manager) Spencer Allen and Jadher Areinamo (with translation by Hedbert Perez). As you’ve now read, seen and heard from the above links, Wisconsin had their top hitter at the plate, trailing 4-3 with the bases loaded, 2-down in the bottom of the 9th inning, but 2B Jadher Areinamo (2-for-4, HR, BB, RBI) wasn’t able to tie it up this time. The team also stranded the bases loaded back in the 5th inning, though they managed to cut the deficit to 3-2 on 2 singles (OF Jheremy Vargas, DH Tayden Hall) and a wild pitch in that frame. 20-year old LHP Anthony Flores (4 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks) commenced with 3 scoreless innings in his first-ever High-A start (3rd appearance). The bullpen of RHP Patricio Aquino and Jeferson Figueroa were terrific, conceding only 1 (wind-assisted) run over 5 innings. Tale of the Tape: Per the podcast, SS Eduardo Garcia’s homer (first of 2025) went 400 feet with an exit velocity of 108.8mph and Areinamo’s game-tying 8th inning blast went 365 feet at 105mph. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Dropping their 3rd straight game, the team stranded 9 baserunners (vs. 7 for the Lugnuts) but only had 3 opportunities with runners in scoring position (0-for-3). Hall, Areinamo and Eduardo Garcia combined for 6 of the squad’s 8 hits. Per the podcast, Manager Victor Estevez is presently in the Dominican Republic with family for Easter. Friday’s outlook: Rehabbing RHP Brandon Woodruff will start the first game of Wisconsin’s Friday doubleheader, after which the stadium will be cleared before RHP Chandler Welch takes the mound for the night cap. Final: Carolina 10, Delmarva 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Offense Lifts Mudcats Past Delmarva After a rare defeat, the Mudcats re-asserted their authority by grabbing a 6-1 lead by the 4th inning and now lead the series 3 games to 1. While the Biloxi and Wisconsin offenses presently struggle to push runs across, here we saw Carolina’s 8 (C Blayberg Diaz) and 9 (OF Luiyin Alastre) batters combine for 6 hits, 4 RBIs, 5 runs scored and a stolen base. Diaz’ RBI single gave the Mudcats their first lead at 2-1 in the 2nd inning, before he followed up with an RBI double for a 3-1 advantage in the 4th inning. Alastre then singled home 2 more runs and also scored on a SS Jesus Made single to lead 6-1. 19-year old RHP Bryce Meccage’s 3rd start of 2025 went far better than his last outing, tossing 55 pitches this time out (3 2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks), with LHP Anfernny Reyes stranding one baserunner for him to enable Meccage exit with a 2-1 advantage. However, the real pitching story of this game was the scoreless relief work of RHP Tanner Gillis (4 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks). Of some concern, OF Braylon Payne (2 walks, 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts) exited in the 7th inning after reaching on an error and moving to 2nd base on a walk. Hopefully, this was purely a precautionary move while leading 7-1. Mudcats’ Extras: Every spot in the Mudcats’ lineup reached base via hit or walk, including 1B Eric Bitonti (1-for-3, 2 walks) and 3B Filippo Di Turi reaching base three times (1-for-2, walk, HBP, 2 runs). Of course, 1100+ OPS man 2B Josh Adamczewski also contributed with a double and a sac fly. Made also had 2 RBIs and a stolen base. From left field, Alastre earned an outfield assist by gunning down a player at second base in the 6th inning. Friday’s outlook: RHP Travis Smith (3.60 ERA with 5 Ks in 5 IP) is scheduled to make his 3rd start of 2025, as Carolina aims to extend its home series lead to 3 games to 1. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Good Friday, 5 Brewers’ Minor League games are on top, starting with the first game of the Timber Rattlers’ doubleheader at 1:10pm CST. 4. The AA Shuckers are shooting for a 4th straight victory and 3-0 road series lead at Birmingham, with RHP KC Hunt (7.94 ERA with 5 Ks in 5.2 IP) making his 3rd start of 2025. 2B Eric Brown Jr. and DH Brock Wilken have 10-game and 9-game on-base streaks, respectively.
  5. 20-year old LHP Anthony Flores (4.50 ERA with 8 Ks in 6 IP) makes his first High-A start (3rd appearance), as Wisconsin needs a home win over Lansing to avoid a 3-0 series deficit. 2B Jadher Areinamo aims to extend his hitting streak to 7 games.
  6. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez has been terrific through 3 starts (0.61 ERA with 18 Ks in 14.2 IP) and looks to lead AAA Nashville to a 3rd straight win at Charlotte. Will 2B Andruw Monasterio extend his homer streak to 3 games?
  7. The Low-A Mudcats get us started today, with RHP Bryce Meccage (6.23 ERA with 4 Ks in 4.1 IP) and the team needing a bounce back as they seek a 2-1 home series lead over Delmarva. Through 10 games, 2B Josh Adamczewski leads the Carolina League in OPS, SLG, total bases and RBIs.
  8. Great insights as always. I was especially keen on a view of Dinges' defense and you covered it (true WIP), though it also means he won't be the bat that saves the Wisconsin offense any time soon.
  9. I assume it’s okay to speculate on possible Made/Pena promotions here, based on recent track record: - Chourio promoted to High-A Wisconsin July 25, 2023 - Lara promoted to High-A Wisconsin August 14, 2023 - Yophery promoted to High-A Wisconsin September 15, 2024 Enjoy them in Zebulon while you can!
  10. AA Biloxi seeks a 3rd straight victory and LHP Tate Kuehner looks to record his first strikeout of 2025 (8.2 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 6 BB), battling in Birmingham. SS Cooper Pratt is 2nd in the Southern League with 12 hits (in 10 games).
  11. It’s RHP Jacob Misiorowski Day (0.66 ERA, 16 Ks in 13.2 IP), as he makes his 3rd start (4th appearance) for AAA Nashville, who can take a 2-0 series lead at Charlotte. CF Daz Cameron has 6 hits (including 3 XBHs) and 3 RBIs in 3 games since joining the organization.
  12. The 9-1 Low-A Mudcats have LHP Wande Torres making his 2nd stateside start (2 IP, 1 R (0 ER). 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K last week), seeking a 2-0 home series lead over Delmarva. An astounding 6 players in the lineup have an OPS north of .850.
  13. I have a feeling the Timber Rattlers will grab a home win on Friday:
  14. OF Luis Castillo placed on High-A Wisconsin's 7-day injured list retroactive to April 14 RHP Carlos Galindo assigned to DSL-Brewers1
  15. High-A Wisconsin needs a home win over Lansing in today’s early game to tie the series 1-1. RHP Manuel Rodriguez (2.70 ERA, 15 Ks in 10 IP) makes his 3rd start of 2025. DH Tayden Hall leads the squad with a .893 OPS in 35 PAs.
  16. The Timber Rattlers host Athletics’ High-A affiliate Lansing this week. RHP Ryan Birchard makes his 2nd start (3.2 IP, 0 R, 4 Ks last week). SS Eduardo Garcia has a 5-game hitting streak and raised his OPS to .781 in 35 plate appearances.
  17. Biloxi is in Birmingham this week to battle the White Sox’s AA affiliate, with RHP Alexander Cornielle aiming to replicate last week’s stellar outing (6 IP, 0 R, 4 Ks). DH Eric Brown Jr. looks to extend his hitting streak to 9 games.
  18. The Sounds play at White Sox AAA affiliate Charlotte this week, with RHP Deivi Garcia (7.1 season IP, 3 ER, 6 Ks) making his 2nd start (4th appearance) tonight. 3B Caleb Durbin has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games.
  19. - RHP Jack Hostetler placed on Low-A Carolina's 7-day injured list.
  20. - Signed 18-year old RHP Albert Vargas and assigned to DSL-Brewers2 - Signed 20-year old RHP Jesus Molina and assigned to DSL-Brewers2 @ARobsBrewCrew had given us a heads up on the Vargas signing back on February 7: "Not much is known about Vargas except that he works in the low 90’s with his fastball at the moment"
  21. Here’s that Mudcat lineup in Game 1 of their home series against Orioles’ affiliate Delmarva, with 22-year old RHP John Holobetz making his 2nd start (5 shutout innings last week, 9 Ks): 1 - Made - SS 2 - Payne - CF 3 - Bitonti - 1B 4 - Adamczewski - 2B 5 - Nadal - LF 6 - Di Turi - 3B 7 - Walling - RF 8 - Diaz - C 9 - Rodriguez - DH X - Holobetz - P
  22. Hopefully he’s able to stack success and maybe this will pave the way for success for other “tool box” pitchers. Is this lesson applicable to someone like RHP Carlos Rodriguez?
  23. - RHP Cristofher Carrasco released by ACL Brewers
  24. Cooper Pratt sparked a comeback, Tyson Hardin notched a shutout start and Braylon Payne delivered key hits in victories for three affiliates. In Nashville, Tobias Myers had a respectable second rehab start. Image courtesy of Biloxi Shuckers For the week, Carolina (5-1) and Nashville (4-2) were series winners, Wisconsin (3-3) managed a road split and Biloxi (2-4) came up on the short end at home. Transactions: RHP Coleman Crow assigned to AA Biloxi from ACL Brewers. Some may recall that Crow was originally acquired from the Mets in December 2023, but has not pitched in an official game since April 2023 Game Action: Final: Memphis 5, Nashville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Drop Series Finale to Memphis The Sounds had already captured the home series victory with Saturday’s win, so I’ll mainly focus on positives despite Sunday’s defeat. Starting RHP Tobias Myers (5 IP, 3 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 1 K) tossed 60 pitches (42 strikes) in his second rehab start. A 2-run homer in the 3rd inning was the first hard hit ball off of him before more significant contact in the 5th frame. His velocity peaked at 94.6mph on his 57th pitch, exiting down 3-1. DH Caleb Durbin and 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. led the day’s limited offense, each singling and walking. Dominant RHP Craig Yoho handled the 9th inning, conceding a 2-out hard-hit triple on a cutter before throwing 5 change ups and a sweeper to strike out his final batter (season ERA 0.00 through 7 1/3 IP). Sounds’ Extras: Two 7th inning runs (1 earned) conceded by LHP Bruce Zimmermann and the defense pushed the deficit to 5-1, essentially sealing the result. OF Daz Cameron also provided more signs that he’s a keeper, singling and throwing out a player trying to stretch a single. Next week’s outlook: Nashville heads 6 hours east to take on White Sox affiliate Charlotte for a six-game series starting Tuesday. Although the Game 1 starter has not yet been named, RHP Logan Henderson is the most likely candidate. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 9, Columbus 8 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Homer Happy Shuckers Win Wild Series Finale Against Clingstones A roller-coaster Sunday contest in front of 1,604 home fans saw the Shuckers come back from two early deficits, concede 15 hits and ultimately close it out for just their 2nd victory of the 2025 season. Starting 26-year old RHP Abdiel Mendoza was not able to dance around trouble as effectively as his debut performance last week, conceding 5 earned runs on 9 hits through 2 1/3 innings before inducing a first-pitch ground ball double play to escape that frame down only 5-2. Four pitches later, OF Luis Lara (1-for-5, double) and SS Cooper Pratt (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBIs) had already cut the deficit to 5-4 on a double and 2-run homer. These efforts were part of 6 consecutive Biloxi hitters reaching base, before Columbus’ starting pitcher mercifully exited after a 1B Zavier Warren (1-for-3, sac fly, 3 RBIs) 2-run single gave the Shuckers a 6-5 advantage. 24-year old, 6’7” LHP Brian Fitzpatrick made a successful AA debut with 4 strikeouts over 3 innings of shutout work, before passing the torch to the high-wire duo of RHPs Stiven Cruz and Justin Yeager (combined 3 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 WP, 3 Ks). Thankfully 2B Eric Brown Jr.’s defensive and offensive contributions had helped Biloxi grow its lead to 9-5, so they could ultimately hold on to the 9-8 victory. Shuckers’ Extras: Credit Biloxi for going 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile, Columbus’ 7-for-19 day in that category tells you how much pressure the Shuckers’ staff was under all game. Turning 3 double plays and going 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts contributed to Biloxi’s win. 7 of 9 Shuckers collected at least one hit, with DH Brock Wilken also walking twice. OF/INF Ethan Murray came through with a 2-for-3, 2 RBI day, including a sacrifice fly. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi will travel 4.5 hours north to battle White Sox affiliate Birmingham for 6 games, with RHP Alexander Cornielle the most likely starter for Tuesday’s opener. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 5, Quad Cities 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Rattlers Bust Out Late to Beat Bandits As you’ve read in the detailed game report, 23-year old RHP Tyson Hardin delivered his 2nd terrific start of 2025, keeping his season ERA at 0.00 with 4 shutout innings and 5 strikeouts. Each spot in the batting order collected exactly 1 hit, including C David Garcia singling and scoring on a 2-out 2B Juan Baez single in the 6th inning (1-0 lead) and DH Tayden Hall singling and scoring on a 3B Jadher Areinamo 2-run double (3-1 advantage) in the 8th inning. Read the link again for details on the stellar bullpen work and down-to-the-wire nature of nearly every contest in this week’s 6-game road series. Of particular note, RHP Yerlin Rodriguez struck out 3 River Bandits swinging while only conceding an infield single. The 23-year old flame-throwing Rodriguez now has 10 Ks, 0 walks and 0 HBPs through 5 innings of 2025 work (1.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP). Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Hall reached base 3 times (1-for-3, 2 walks) as he makes the most of the opportunity in the leadoff role. The team went just 1-for-4 on steal attempts, with 6’3”, 236-pound 1B Blake Burke the sole to succeed. Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers get to return home to square off against Athletics’ affiliate Lansing, with RHP Ryan Birchard scheduled to start the opening game of the series on Tuesday. Final: Carolina 8, Myrtle Beach 6 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Late Rally Propels Mudcats Past Myrtle Beach A see-saw game in front of 4,729 road fans saw the Mudcats come out on top, limiting Myrtle Beach to 4 hits behind the tag-team duo of 19-year old starting RHP Bryan Rivera (3 1/3 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 1 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) and 18-year old RHP Melvin Hernandez (3 2/3 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 HBP, 3 Ks). OF Braylon Payne put together the most complete offensive line (2-for-5, triple, 2 RBIs, SB), with game-tying RBI hits in the 4th and 6th innings: Every Mudcat reached base via hit or walk in the contest, though we’re awaiting word on the early exit of DH/C Dinges, who doubled in the 1st inning and was replaced by Filippo Di Turi in the 3rd inning. Di Turi’s 2-out 7th inning single tied the game at 5-5 and he had an RBI walk to add an insurance run in the 9th inning. Any time SS Luis Pena (2-for-5, 3 SBs, 2 runs) reaches base, he’s a menace for the other team: 6th inning single, steals 2nd, scores on Payne’s single for a 4-4 game 8th inning infield single, steals 2nd and 3rd, scores on OF Demetrio Nadal’s groundout for a 6-5 advantage Mudcats’ Extras: Congrats to 21-year old LHP Anfernny Reyes on his 4-out save, his first save of 2025. He stranded a baserunner for Hernandez in the 8th, then promptly loaded the bases on 2 walks and an HBP to start the 9th inning. A Made-to-Eric Bitonti ground ball eliminated two baserunners as well as Pelicans Manager Yovanny Cuevas (ejected) before a first-pitch pop out ended the contest. Issuing 8 walks, 4 hit-by-pitches and 4 errors (as Carolina did in this contest) won’t win many games, so Manager Nick Stanley will certainly have the young squad work to clean things up. 17-year old Jesus Made (1-for-5, double) committed 2 of the 4 errors in his first 2025 action at 3rd base.
